  • "Fernleigh Cottage is lovely with everything you need for your stay."

Immaculately clean and comfortable. The Pheasant Inn is lovely and the food and staff are amazing. One small thing is there is no shop within 2 miles of the cottage but it is a great base for travelling the Lake District

  • "We had a great stay."

The cottage was perfect and had everything we could possibly need (if we were forced to provide ideas for improvement we’d say maybe some cushions for the sofa and a large mirror in the bedroom for dressing). The hosts at the Pheasant Inn were friendly and helpful and the food was great. We will definitely be back to stay and have already recommended to friends.

  • "We found this cottage to be far better than we expected."

The photos of the lounge do not do it justice, there are now 2 new leather recycling sofas and the curtains have been replaced with modern blinds. The whole cottage was spotlessly clean and was well equipped with everything you could possibly need. The Pheasant pub was very welcoming and served delicious food. We parked next to the cottage which was fine for us as we only have a small car however on arrival we were told we were welcome to park in the pub car park if we preferred but we didn't need to. Good location for exploring the Lake District. Had a great week.

  • "The listing didn't say how poor the off-road parking arrangement was."

Very awkward to turn out of the drive because of very busy main road and unable to see both ways properly. Also the driveway was scruffy. We finished up parking in the pub car park. Cleanliness inside the property was wanting - particular attention needs to paid to corners of rooms and behind furniture. The glass tv stand was also in need of a good polish. All generally in need of a deep clean. Loose plug socket in the lounge. On the plus side the bathroom was superb and the pub around the corner gave excellent food and service.

  • "Fernleigh met all of our expectations."

In a lovely location ideal for exploring and close to Grange-over-sands and Cartmel. The cottage was very clean and well equipped. We had a small problem when we first arrived and the owners were very quick to resolve it. Parking was limited by the side of the cottage especially if you have a bigger car but there was no problem in us being able to park at the pub next door which served lovely food and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. We are looking forward to returning soon!

  • "Charlotte was very welcoming and as is only next door at the pub is contactable at any time."

The cottage was immaculately clean, extremely well stocked with anything you could possibly need. There was also a welcome bottle of wine! There are tvs, dvds games books etc, a folder of local info, quality towels and bedding. The bathroom is large and the walk in shower is great! The cottage is exactly as described and pictured and we enjoyed our stay very much. The pub is great, food very good, staff excellent! I would recommend it and stay again if I was in the area.

Owners were fantastic and the local pub food very very good. Highly recommend this cottage the only thing that would’ve made it better would’ve been if one of the beds had been 2 singles.

  • "Not only was the cottage immaculately clean it was extremely well equipped and very warm and cosy."

The owners Charlotte and Gavin made us very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. They also own the pub next door, The Pheasant, which serves fabulous food. All the friendly staff and customers embraced us as though we had been locals for years. All-in-all we can't praise the cottage and the owners enough and will certainly be going back - fantastic!

  • "The cottage itself was great except that the outside space was not nearly as big as depicted on the site."

The owners and staff in the Pheasant were friendly and welcoming and the food was excellent, so good that we ate there 5 out of our 7 night stay. The only downside was that there was nowhere close by the cottage to allow our 2 dogs to run free, however they were quite content to relax with us in the cottage on the (many) wet days.

The parking might be a concern for some, having to reverse into the drive and maneuver close to wall/garage. The bottle of wine on arrival was a nice touch. The pub next door but one is very nice and the meals are very well portioned. The cottage is ideally situated for the southern part of the lakes. we enjoyed our stay and would recommend without hesitation.

  • "On arrival the owner of the property showed us around and mentioned about the next door neighbour complainig about parking and dogs barking."

The following evening the said neighbour asked me to keep my dogs quite she had cats. i felt upset and horrified as this cottage is advertised pet friendly . We have stayed in many cottages and never been made to feel like we were treading on egg shells . Sherry an Angel only make a noise when being fed or distressed . As we couldn't relax and do normal activities with the dogs in case of any noise we cut our holiday short. We feel other dog owners need to be aware of this and can not recommend this cottage as dog friendly.
