Very clean and had all facilities we needed.

  • "We loved our stay."

When we walked into the property it smelled clean & fresh & felt lovely & warm, a real home from home. The bed was very comfortable. Maybe take a look at the toilet flush it was a bit temperamental. The bottle of prosecco was a really nice gesture & the pint of milk much appreciated. We would love to return to 2 The Old Coach House in the future.

  • "Lovely cottage, everything there we needed for a nice weekend in Ambleside."

Very comfortable an clean. Only downside is the very tight parking, which actually didn’t affect us as there was nobody in the other cottage while we where there but would have been a very tight squeeze if another car had been there, but on the upside at least it has its own parking.

  • "A cosy cottage in the heart of Ambleside, we could not have asked for a better location to spend 3 nights for our 1st wedding anniversary."

The cottage is so close to everything Ambleside has to offer. We spent 3 nights with 4 adults and our 2 dogs. They have really made the most of every bit of space. I would recommend those people who generally get up first in a morning to take the largest bedroom as this looks out on the living area so could be woken up but this was not an issue for us. The parking space is tight as previously written in other reviews but totally doable and great to have a parking space right in the centre of Ambleside. The cottage has everything we could want and would not hesitate to stay here again.

  • "Lovely cottage only slight issue is the size of the parking space."

Having a large estate made unloading and loading quite difficult when the other space was in use.

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry that you had difficulty with parking, however Ambleside is an old town where providing larger parking spaces is not possible. We are glad that you enjoyed the cottage. Lakelovers Owner Relations Team Property Owner

  • "Arrived after a day walking in the rain to find the property had not been serviced."

No clean towels or bedding and not cleaned. There was mess in the toilet but found out not really previous occupiers fault as toilet flush was faulty. Might be called dog friendly but nowhere within 10 minute walk to let dog out at night or in morning. Place itself was lovely and i expect if it had been cleaned and we didnt have dogs it would have been ideal

  • "We had a lovely comfortable week stay."

Parking was fine for our Golf, traffic will go around if you need to adjust in order to reverse in which is a must unless someone can back you out. The selector dial on the oven seems to be broken, could manage but took a while to find the right setting and then had to switch off completely to turn it off. All in all though everything was great.

  • "Really nice cottage ideally located with Ambleside centre just a few minutes stroll away."

Very well equipped and gave us a feeling of a real home from home after a busy day out. Parking was tight but once parked in our allocated space on the first day we didn't need to get the car out again all week with all bars, cafes etc so nearby and buses regularly accessing the likes of Windermere and Grasmere on the doorstep and so cheap. The cottage was exactly as advertised on the website and we really couldn't fault it .

  • "We were very happy with our stay at 2 The Old Coach House."

It's perfectly located at the bottom end of Ambleside within easy reach of everything we needed. The mezzanine bedroom is a super feature and the bed was really comfy. There's plenty of space and the kitchen is extremely well stocked with all the pots, dishes and utensils you could want (however, the cafetiere was broken unfortunately). Thanks for the Prosecco and the half pint of milk too - much appreciated! There was actually a heatwave in the Lakes while we were there, but the cottage is naturally cool (thanks to thick stone walls, I guess) which was fantastic. Parking is tight but really not a problem. If we had to find fault, a more powerful shower would have been good, and it took us a day or two to work out the "knack" for flushing the toilet but that would really be nitpicking. Most important Rosie the dog loved the cottage too :-)

Thank you for your comments. We are pleased to hear that you had an enjoyable stay, and found that the property had everything that you needed. We hope to welcome you and Rosie the dog again. The Lakelovers Owner Relations Team Property Owner

It has a very well equipped kitchen, great heating and hot water and comfortable seating area. One downside is that there is only one bathroom but otherwise it's all fabulous and I would absolutely stay there again!

Perfect location for Ambleside and walking and very little need to use the car. I thought with 4 of us in the house for 3 nights it would be noisy but it wasn't at all. Very warm and cosy cottage with very efficient heating.

  • "We had a nice stay but we did find a few things that assisted in our decision to come home a day early."

The open plan nature of the property means noise travels a lot, the fridge made a noise all night which is heard in the main bedroom. This was also the case for traffic, which went on till early hours and the boiler coming on and off, which we couldn’t change on the hive system. The open plan nature also doesn’t help rain noise on the velux windows, (which in the lakes is obviously frequent) not sure anything could be done about this though This bedroom has a very firm mattress also which wasn’t to our taste. The shower screen needs attention as after use it allows water to collect on the wooden floor and bath mat which ended up sodden. As per other reviews, sofa very uncomfortable for any period of time. The cottage was really nice, but I don’t think we would stay again bearing in mind the quality of sleep we got. The parking is also a slight issue, we couldn’t get out the car once parked when the neighbouring property had a car parked, had to climb in from the passenger side. We used the public car park in the end. Much easier and less risk of damaging the car. If you go with these things in mind, you will enjoy your stay, but they did impact on ours.

Thank you for your feedback on your holiday at 2 The Old Coach House. We've taken on your, and other guests' comments, and we have now replaced the sofa and chairs, and have installed a new, Quiet Mark Approved fridge-freezer. We love the quirky layout of the property and agree that with it being open plan, sounds sometimes can travel, but hopefully this will help. As stated, the cottage is on a main road, albeit set back. Unfortunately there is nothing we can do about the Cumbrian weather! The parking is tight - parking is at a premium throughout Ambleside - but as mentioned in a previous response, we can safely park our 4x4 while the other space is occupied. We are pleased that you were able to find alternative parking for your car close by. Our Agent, Lakelovers, are based only a few minutes away and would have been happy to attend to look at the heating settings and anything else so that you were not disturbed unnecessarily. Liked the milk and Prosseco left for us. We would definitely return. Only downside was the parking space provided will only suit a small car. I could not get my SUV into the space with another car parked. Free parking is available a couple of minutes away though.

Thanks for your review, we're glad you enjoyed your stay. Yes, the space is quite tight. We can manage to get our 4x4 in there with a car parked in the other, but we've had practice! it's easier if you back in ;-) Property Owner

  • "Very comfortable and unexpected space considering the small frontage."

Just as a suggestion - we felt that some coat hooks near the front door would have been very useful ( for coats / dog leads), and if there had been space for a shoe rack for wet boots. But it was such a great use of space and the main bedroom was beautifully lit and decorated. Thank you.
