The property

Church Cottage is a picture postcard holiday home in the very heart of the Lake District in picturesque Ambleside, just 100 yards from the centre of this vibrant village. Said to be located on one of the most photographed streets in the Lakes, this Grade II listed cottage offers cosy and comfortable accommodation in Lakeland for a family or two couples and their pets at any time of year. Step in through the front door to an open plan living and dining room that's packed with character.

There are exposed beams and a floor flagged with local Lakeland stone and the comfortable seating includes a high quality sofa bed.

The fully equipped kitchen looks out onto a pretty little courtyard garden and there's a contemporary ground floor shower room with double shower cubicle.

Upstairs are two king-sized double bedrooms and a bathroom with bathtub and overhead shower. Outside, the courtyard garden is a really pretty place to sit at any time of day.

Garden furniture and a barbecue are provided for those balmy evenings.

There's a gate to a pedestrian only lane, which leads to the reserved on street parking provided at Church Cottage. If you want to leave the car behind, one of the great attractions of Church Cottage is the wealth of amenities right on the doorstep.

You're just 100 yards from the heart of this delightful village, which has a cinema, shops and pubs.

Don't miss the stunning desserts at renowned local restaurant Lucy's, or a trip to the idyllic Hill Top, Beatrix Potter's home.

Enchanting Wray Castle and Wordsworth's home at Rydal Mount, with its beautiful gardens, are both within easy reach.

Ambleside is just minutes away from the northern tip of Windermere, with its famous steam cruises around the islands.

This is Swallows and Amazons country and there are plenty of family attractions, including Go Ape and the Aquarium of the Lakes.

All the sites of the Lake District are easily accessible from Ambleside, and a trip over the breathtaking Kirkstone Pass will take you to lively Keswick and beautiful Ullswater, which is said to be the most romantic of all the lakes. With so much to do literally on the doorstep, Church Cottage is the perfect getaway to the Lakes at any time of year.

About the location

Windermere 4 miles; Grasmere 4 mile; Keswick 15 miles.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
