  • "It was our best stay in Ambleside or any AirBnb ever."

Very tasteful furnished. Nothing we missed. We felt actually at home. It was very clean and it felt like recently refurbished. The only downside are the windows, that you actually can not leave them open during the night as they tilt/open to the wrong direction in the bedroom. Luckily it was not toooo warm, so we could cope. But we love to sleep with open windows. So we missed that. But other than that an absolute joy to stay in your apartment. We'll try to book it again if we come again to Ambleside.

  • "A very nice property conveniently located in Ambleside."

A short stroll down a very steep path takes you to the shops and restaurants and also onto the route to visit the waterfalls. The property is modern and very comfortable, an added bonus is the small garden area which we enjoyed in the late afternoon sunshine.

Many thanks for your positive feedback! The apartment is west facing so it does get the afternoon/evening sun - very glad you enjoyed it! Property Owner

  • "We stayed here as a couple for 6 nights and this was our first visit to the Lake district."

Pros: The kitchen has everything you could need, nothing seems to be missing. The bedroom and the living room have large windows with lots of light and nice view of the hills. This is main reason I chose this place, it would be delightful to sit in the garden in the nice summer days. No noise from the street. It is 5 minutes of walk to the city of Ambleside (a very short steep path on the way back). There is a large Tesco, bakery, Mexican food take away place in the walking distance. You can walk in 15 minutes to the lake, there is a park with Roman ruins. The mattress is high quality and comfortable. It was completely clean when we arrived (maybe some minor dust). Cons: The parking is only appropriate for a small car and there was one day a large SUV had parked behind our car and it was difficult to get out of the parking lot.

Thank you very much for your positive comments. Ambleside is notoriously short of parking and many properties cannot offer it at all. We are sorry you experienced difficulty on this occasion. Property Owner

  • "High Pike is a wonderful place to stay with just a few negatives as below: No cafetière."

The bed squeaks (on side nearest shower room). Nowhere to put toiletries in shower cubicle, just a simple metal hanging crate would do it. Apart from these tiny issues we found the property exceptional and intend to return. Thank you.

Thank you for your comments. We have replaced the missing cafetiere - sorry it wasn't around for your stay. We've also taken on board your other comments. Property Owner

  • "A very comfortable, warm, well equipped apartment."

Ideally situated with fantastic views across the fells, with easy access to the little town of Ambleside with its many outdoor shops and eating and drinking venues! It's central position in The Lakes is ideal to enable many walks straight from the door or accessing walks by car in any direction. Have visited 4 times and will definitely be back to enjoy another holiday! Thank you!!

Despite the 3 storms we had during our stay it was very comfortable and warm and despite the rain we managed to do many walks around the area with one walk very close (Stock Ghyll Force)

  • "On the downside the parking was extremely tight as has extre large SUV’s."

I phoned Lakelovers as we had water dripping down the corners of the bedroom which we have photos of also the rad in the bedroom wasn’t working (error 30 overheating). I have heard nothing from you thus far. Needless to say we enjoyed our stay and overall the apartment was very good.

Thank you for your feedback. We were very sorry to hear about the problems you encountered but pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay and overall considered the apartment very good. The Dimplex heater was newly installed in June and there should not have been a problem. It has now been replaced with another new heater.. As soon as we became aware of the water on the walls action was taken to seek to remedy the situation. Property Owner

  • "Lovely accommodation and very well equipped."

What would have made it absolutely perfect would be if the shrubs outside were pruned a bit. They are currently a bit high and partially obscure the view of the fells. Thank you.

  • "Lovely apartment, very spacious and an excellent view extending towards high peak and Loughrigg."

The view is slightly diminished by the overgrown hedgerow opposite the living room windows. The finish of the apartment is excellent with two newly refurbished bathrooms, a large and comfortable bed and smart living area. The pillows were too soft, but this is more our preference. The apartment has a spacious terrace which was a welcome addition on a sunny afternoon, post a long walk! The patio furniture has seen slightly better days and could benefit from replacement. The kitchen is spacious but lacks some essentials that we would expect to find in a holiday let, particularly one pitching at the upper end. For example, there is no washing machine, despite there being a clothes airer! This would be very helpful to those who are on longer stays in order to wash walking attire. There was also no cafetière and a lack of usable oven trays. The position is superb and a short walk down a very steep hill takes you to the centre of Ambleside and many restaurants and shops. Whilst there is an allocated parking space, it is incredibly tight and if others don’t park in their space, you can be left without anywhere to park. This happened to us and another owner was less than helpful in trying to resolve the issue. This was disappointing. Overall, a lovely place to stay in a brilliant location to enable good exploration of all the lakes have to offer.

  • "Accessing the apartment was very difficult and not as in the instructions."

The lady in the facility building next door was extremely unhelpful considering I think she worked for Lakelovers. I had to ring up to gain access and needed another code to access the building to allow us to get our keys from the key box,. We even had to help the couple next door gain access to their apartment.

  • "Sykes - Our experience with Sykes wasn't great."

We tried to call them before our holiday to ask about the property and COVID arrangement and was unable to get through to them and no ability to leave a message. I did receive a voicemail, but on ringing back was again not to connect or leave a message. On arrival, the towels in the property had a bad smell. We were again unable to reach anyone at Sykes, or on the number for the caretaker (appeared to divert to the same number for Sykes). After trying multiple ways, we were only able to contact them via the app. The towels were replaced the next day. The Property - First to good things, this property is in a great location. A short walk down a very steep hill and you are right in the centre of Ambleside. Great views over the hills, in a quiet part of the town. Can't fault the location. However, a number of areas with the property itself could make it much better. Firstly the parking. The car park is in a busy cul-de-sac and the car park spaces are very narrow. We don't have a large car and are used to tight parking, but on more than one occasion we could not park without blocking ourselves or other cars. Parking a large car would be problematic and challenging for those uncomfortable with parking. The other main problem was the kitchen equipment, it is very basic and limited. For example, only 2 bowls, one water glass, few pans, very blunt knives & equipment. Photos show a cafetière, which was not there. Given most options for food are still closed due to COVID restrictions, we ate in most nights - the facilities really did not help this. Additionally, we were accessing the property via the patio doors due to the main access closed due to COVID. It would have been nice to provide some additional mats for muddy boots, wet umbrellas etc. Also there is no washing machine, unusual for a self-catering property. This was not on the listing we discovered, but unusual not to have one. Overall, we expected better. Great we were able to go, but more effort could have been made to accommodate for the COVID situation we are still in and better communication from Sykes.

Thank you for your feedback, we are thrilled that you were pleased with the location and surroundings. We are very sorry to hear your comments regarding the lack of cutlery and crockery at the property, these have been reduced due to Covid but we apologise that you did not find the amount left sufficient. With regards to the property not having a washing machine, this is stated on the website as you mention but we are taking this feedback on board and will look into adding this to the property. We really appreciate your comments and we hope that these issues do not deter you from staying with us again. Best wishes. Property Owner

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes.
