  • "Really lovely stay and would recommend the place."

Only a couple of small complaints. Not being able to open the windows is a big pain. Also the noise from the pub was a little loud but only on the Friday and sat night. Also supplying salt / pepper and actual washing sponges would be a big win, however was largely very impressed with how well stocked the place was with utensils.

It’s a lovely place with big patios rooms, could do with a little tlc and it’s up a flight of stairs but as a base to stay in in Ambleside it’s ideal :-)

  • "Excellent property, centrally located and well maintained."

The only issue was recycling instructions needed to be clearer as we are not from the area. Also it needed to be clearer as to where parking was located i.e. entrance between two buildings on the road a bit vague and the height of the fire escape to the property as some older people would struggle

  • "Loughrigg was the perfect little getaway with a beautiful view of the peaks and a lovely modern decor."

It was almost perfect, the only drawback was the noise from the pub opposite the road which continued until 1am in the morning. Of course, I understand that the owners cannot prevent this, but a little forewarning to bring ear plugs to hide the noise or even earplugs provided by the owners would have been appreciated as it was quite disruptive for sleeping. That said, my friends and I had a lovely stay here and it was the perfect location for everything we had planned over our weekend stay. I would definitely recommend it to those visiting the Lakes!

  • "Great location and a lovely flat, decorated and furnished really nicely."

There was a plumber there replacing the boiler when we arrived - not really too much of an issue, we were able to leave our bags and head out until he was finished - however he did say that we should have been informed that check-in would be a little late, but we didn't receive a call or an email from Sykes. It's a pity that the finish of the workmanship was a little 'shoddy' the en-suite door didn't shut properly as the latch is fitted the wrong way around, and the door is so squeaky that it wakes everyone else if you need to use during the night! The bulbs in the living room lights must be the wrong type, as the dimmer switch doesn't work, and whoever painted the bedroom doors managed to get paint all over the handles! We had a great stay, and none of the above was a problem, but thought I'd mention so owners were aware.

  • "Amazing property and probably one of the best I have stayed in."

It would be helpful if the parking spaces were actually labelled for the individual properties. I appreciate we had an issue with my guest parking in the wrong space, but a name plaque on the wall would make it clear, which space was allocated to which property.

  • "We had a lovely time, the apartment was in a great central location in Ambleside and was modern, comfortable and clean."

Would definitely visit again. Only negative was the cleaner who appeared at 9.50am and rudely told us we should have been out for 9am (which seemed very early to me!) Wouldn’t have minded had she been polite about the situation but she was rude and matter of fact! Took great pleasure in showing her our paperwork which clearly said depart for 10am! I suggested she speak to Sykes who had provided us with documentation as we’d have been out before 10am had that been the case. Other than her rudeness which annoyed us all, we all had a great time.

The location is central to all amenities and the parking space was a great bonus (if a little snug). The apartment exceeded expectations and the photos don't do it justice. Would definitely recommend and will stay again on our next trip to the Lakes. The steps need care when wet.

  • "Very nice good sized central apartment with many walks and facilities from the door."

Appreciated the smart TV, Jaccuzi bath and well fitted out kitchen. However some things need attention. The en-suite toilet was moving when you sat on it so we didn’t use this one. The sink in there was blocked with hair and black gunk and would not drain until I cleared it out. Yuk. The microwave turntable didn’t work so we couldn’t use it. The towels provided were also a bit parsimonious.

Everything had been thought of and it was like a home from home - but better! The spa bath was an unexpected treat, the beds were extremely comfortable and the cleanliness was impeccable. Even the music/chat at night from the bar opposite did not bother us, it couldn't be helped and our host had provided a box of earplugs anyway - we slept very well. Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
