  • "We have just returned from Ambleside for a birthday celebration for my husband."

6 of us shared NETHERBECK, and we were all very comfortable and enjoyed our stay. The kitchen space is so accommodating, and easy to enjoy leasurely family meals. We were all so impressed on how centrally appointed the property is. Anyone wanting to stay in Ambleside would be very impressed with this property. Thankyou for the earlier check in too. Much appreciated after one party members 5 hour journey.

  • "A lovely property, well furnished and in a great location in Ambleside, very near the shops."

The parking permit is invaluable as parking otherwise would be difficult. We woud definitely return. The only small issue would be the poor lighting on stairs, but that could easily be remedied.

Spotlessly clean throughout and equipped to a very high specification. The showers were great and the beds were extremely comfortable. The parking permit provided for one car was very greatly appreciated.

We had a really enjoyable stay and were impressed with the high standard of the accommodation. Would definitely recommend. Very central location. One small suggestion would be to provide a full length mirror in one of the bedrooms.

Thank you for your comments. We are so pleased to see that you enjoyed your stay. We take your suggestion about the mirror on board. We hope to welcome you back again. The Lakelovers Owner Relations Team Property Owner

  • "Lovely property, beautifully decorated furnished and lots of space for 4 adults and two children."

There’s a great dining and family space, three bathrooms and a comfy living room. Immaculately clean and everything looks virtually brand new. Clearly a lot of thought has gone into the property. Located right in the heart of pubs, shops and restaurants and a 20-30 walk from waterhead pier. We went to the great north swim and it was easy to walk to the pier and get the ferry to the swim launch point at brockhole. One parking permit provided - we travelled with two cars and parked one on the big car park behind the cottages which was a couple of mins walk and reasonably priced. Basement room smells and feels a little damp but enough to stop us using it. Two of the beds are rock hard which suited one of the adults but not the other three but one room has a lovely soft bed. This wasn’t enough of an issue to stop us booking again in the future though.

Thank you for your comments. We are pleased to read that you found the property to be immaculate. We take all comments on board, and our Maintenance Team will look further into the damp issue. We do find that beds and mattresses are down to personal preference. We hope to welcome you again. The Lakelovers Owner Relations Team Property Owner

Great kitchen and dining spaces, very comfortable living room and cellar games room and the bedrooms are well appointed with comfy beds and matching oak wardrobes and drawers. A truly lovely place right in the centre of Ambleside amongst the shops, pubs and restaurants. I’m sure we’ll be back

  • "Netherbeck is absolutely stunning and in a great location."

Close enough to shops but still nice and quiet. WiFi isn't the best, and the property would probably benefit from a WiFi booster in the kitchen area. Beds were also a bit hard, but I wouldn't let that put me off, and I would definitely book here again.

Thank you for your comments. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay. We take all comments on board, though we do find beds to be personal preference. We hope to welcome you back. Property Owner

  • "Netherbeck has been thoughtfully refurbished."

The modern kitchen / diner provides a large space and is well equipped. All bathrooms are all of a high standard. The bedrooms are nicely furnished with comfortable beds and ample storage. Downstairs in the basement the TV room has a comfortable large sofa, ideal for four or five people to watch the television. An earlier review commented on the chilly living room. I agree, but would go further in commenting that we struggled with the central heating system in general, to the extent that Heart of the Lakes kindly provided us with a couple of electrical convector heaters to use in the front room and TV room. We also had difficulties with the door locks. As we later read in an owners response to a review, the inside knob needs to be pulled out to enable the door to be locked from the outside. This is not intuitive and it would have been helpful if there were instructions on the door. It would also have been helpful to have instructions to the kitchen appliances, in particular the oven and dishwasher.

Thank you for your kind feedback. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay at Netherbeck. We take all comments on board. We hope to welcome you back again. Property Owner

Well decorated and spacious house. The living/dining kitchen is beautifully done and we spent most of our time there enjoying the space and furnishings and light. Boot/utility room was very useful after winter walks. Downstairs snug very cosy for catching up on box sets after a day walking and a beer in one of the many good pubs and restaurants. Front room a bit chilly (it was January though) so didn’t use as much, but great and huge sofa.

We were a party of 6 adults and had a fabulous stay at Netherbeck Plenty of room for us all to enjoy spending time together and less than a 5 minute walk to the Ambleside shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs As mentioned by someone else, we also struggled with the anti snap front door lock but didn’t see any information about it in the cottage - Possibly worth adding something in the key collection email I’d definitely recommend staying her but, a basic supply of tea, coffee, sugar and milk plus two toilet rolls per toilet would have made it even better

About the location

AMBLESIDE

Grasmere 4.4 miles; Windermere 4.7 miles; Keswick 16.7 miles.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
