  • "This is our 2nd stay in Woolly End and we have no complaints."

Lovely cosy rental with comfortable beds and everything you need for a pleasant stay. It's ideally situated for everything and the parking wasn't a hassle even though the road was full and we had to park in the main car park, it was so easy. We'll definately be back again.

Thank you so much for your feedback, really appreciate it. It's good to know you find the beds comfortable. We're so glad you stayed with us again and look forward to welcoming you in the future. Property Owner

  • "Lovely cottage, very comfortable."

A great place to stay for our young family. It was a real home from home. We appreciated the high standard of equipment in the kitchen and the comfortable beds. A great location and an enjoyable stay. Many thanks!

We're so pleased you enjoyed your stay at Woolly End and glad you found the beds comfortable. We want Woolly to be a home from home for all guests. Hope you can stay again with us sometime. Property Owner

  • "While the cottage is lovely it was a surprising struggle given the only toilet facility was on the top floor requiring two flights of stairs."

The listing does note accurately only one bathroom, but I feel it should have been more obvious in the listing that the only toilet was difficult to access. The lack of a railing on the first level stairs made it exceedingly difficult for my 80 year old father to get upstairs. He needed to use his hands on the stairs. Otherwise, the location is excellent, cottage was clean and well decorated. Additional outdoor seating so the three of us could enjoy the patio together would be a valuable addition. Thank you for sharing your home.

Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry you had issues during your stay. The cottage details have been updated on the Lakelovers website to state clearly that the bathroom is on the top floor. The handrail idea will be looked into also. We hope you had a lovely holiday. Property Owner

  • "Front door lock is a nightmare."

must be resolved. Key box a pain. Esp at night when it’s black. Nothing in the house excluding tea/coffee/sugar/milk sachets. How about passing on the vibe. Salt pepper, oil. Simple basics. No welcome letter, this was poor. Just a simple hello, welcome, WiFi code is heating, garbage days, recycling, instead of tasteless plaques all over the house. Zero privacy re windows, Bed linen way too much fabric conditioner and duvets to hot and too heavy. Final note make it clear the toilet/bathroom is on the very top floor. What I am saying is make your rental more welcoming upon arrival esp when we are paying good money. Other than these notes, I enjoyed my stay, quieter than I thought it would be, peaceful, parking went well, location is the best part. The property is well kept, Lovely brand new carpet. WiFi worked, fully equipped kitchen. Proper size TV. I would go back which is best recommendation I can give you. Just sort out the above. Thank you

We're sorry you had issues during your stay with us, we want Woolly End to be comfortable and cosy for all guests. We have replaced the missing welcome folder, it should have been there for your arrival which shows the wifi code, bin/recycling, heating etc. Salt, pepper, oil has been replenished and the spring/autumn duvets on are all beds. Really hope you will come back and stay again and we do appreciate your feedback. Property Owner

  • "Thought property was really good, clean and had everything I needed."

Facilities were good. The only additional thing that other places like this have offered would be a few board games for people to play if they want. But in reality that is not essential. I thought the night lights on the stairs were a really nice touch too

Thank you for your feedback. We've put some new board games and books back in Woolly End again, appreciate the reminder. We hope you stay again with us. Property Owner

  • "Woolly End Cottage is a lovely place to stay in Ambleside."

It’s very central and although the parking on the street can be very busy we had no problems during the week we were there. The cottage is very cosy and has everything you could possibly need to make your stay comfortable, including hiking poles, which were fabulous as I forgot ours. It’s spotlessly clean and the beds are very comfortable, it’s definately somewhere I will be returning to.

We're so glad you enjoyed your time at Woolly End. Thank you for your feedback and hope you stay again. Property Owner

  • "Lack of communication from Sykes regarding key collection."

The email regarding key collection did not arrive before we set off I had to ring HO to find out where to collect and was told the collection site shut @ 16.00hrs. The office was Lake Overs? Ambleside. Finding the cottage with no info not easy. The cottage was not trimmed up for Christmas ( disappointed) it was cold on entry. Lack of info from Sykes in the cottage . I will think twice before I use Sykes. Steve Budgen.

Thank you for taking the time to feedback after your recent stay. We apologise you did not recieve our two emails prompting you of the changes prior to your stay. We contacted you on the 13th December to make you aware that there were changes and we sent you another 7 days before your stay with the exact changes and new arrangements. Our office closes at 5.30pm so I am sorry that you were given the incorrect information here regarding opening times too. The key collection arrangement has recently changed and moved from pick up at Windermere to Ambleside to make it easier for guests going straight to Woolly End Cottage in Ambleside. We have re-looked at the directions and arrangements and have ensured they are clearer moving forward. Kind Regards, Property Owner

  • "Location great."

Cleanliness great. Would have been good to have had wood for the fire when we arrived...only place we've stayed at that hasn't been provided; I really think that should be sorted. Seating in lounge v limited had 6 people been staying. Newly decorated so felt v 'together'. Would stay again. Thanks v much.

Thank you for your kind comments, we are happy to hear you liked the new decor. We do advertise to accommodate 5 people for the reason you highlighted, it's nice and cosy for 5 though. We don't advertise the logs though for the woodburner as these can be purchased locally in the village. We hope to see you again in the future, thank you. Property Owner
