“We had a wonderful 2 nights break at this beautiful cottage.”

It was hard to find (especially when dark) but after a quick call to the owner we managed to find it tucked away through a small alley to the left side of another cottage on the road. We had to park down the road but it wasn't a problem. The cottage was extremely clean and quaint. Kitchen had aga and fridge. No toaster or microwave but that's what made it great. We took a quick walk into the little village which took about 20 minutes and stopped off for lunch at one of the pubs. Would recommend ...

Be welcomed into a spacious sitting room home to a classic inglenook fireplace, with a woodburning stove for those chillier evenings.

Cosy up on the plush and inviting sofa to rest your feet and enjoy some entertainment from the TV.

A wonderfully appointed open-plan kitchen/diner to the rear is host to an electric AGA cooker, so you're sure to enjoy whipping up some delicious dishes on this impressive appliance.

The dining area is the ideal space for enjoying a hearty breakfast whilst planning the week ahead, while in the evening it brings a way to enjoy a peaceful moment across from your loved one.

Historically the Howgill Fells were some of Alfred Wainwright's favourites, and are well-worth visiting for those keen explorers and hikers.

Sedbergh has a number of historic houses, plenty of independent shops and a local pub, whilst its market dates back to the 13th century.

Sport enthusiasts have the choice of three golf courses within driving distance, as well as tennis courts, horse riding and even fishing.

Travel further afield into the Lake District and take a long lakeside walk at the famous Lake Windermere, where you can get involved in watersports such as fishing and boat trips.

About the location

SEDBERGH

Kendal 12 miles; Hawes 15 miles.

Sedbergh (pronounced Sed-Ber), set at the foot of the dramatic and wild Howgill Fells, is an ancient market town in northern Dentdale. Sedbergh is situated just inside the Yorkshire Dales National Park and is only 12 miles from the Lake District National Park. The town, with its narrow streets, little shops, traditional pubs, famous school dating back to 1525 and its 12th century church, has an olde worlde atmosphere. Leading from Sedbergh is Dentdale, the jewel of the Yorkshire Dales with its rolling hills and dry stone walls, stretching 14 miles from the windswept moors below Whernside to the confluence of the Rivers Dee and Rawthey. At the centre of the dale is Dent, with its cobbled streets, which has existed since Norman times and nearby Dent railway station is on the renowned Settle-Carlisle railway line. There are three golf courses nearby, as well as tennis, riding, and fishing, and the area is a paradise for walkers, ramblers, runners and cyclists. This, together with the tranquillity of the surrounding valleys, the two National Parks and it being England's book town, makes an ideal year-round holiday destination.
