"First time in this lovely area, and the property was first class."
Friendly hosts, very comfortable, great views and lovely walks. Would definitely book again 5*

"Had a wonderful time at Low Bank, the accommodation was clean, comfy and welcoming and could not fault it."
It has a fridge freezer which was handy, the Wi-Fi was first class and we would definitely recommend this property and hope to return in the near future. For book lovers the church opposite has a book shed of preloved books. There is a bus almost at the door if you want to leave your car behind which takes you to Kirby Lonsdale, Settle and Skipton. From Settle and Skipton there is rail connections. So in conclusion although it is in the countryside it’s is easily accessible by public transport. All in all in our top three accommodations based on our experiences over many years of staying in self catering.

"Low Bank is a lovely bungalow situated in the middle of the delightful, peaceful village of Austwick."
It was spacious, clean and comfortable and the addition of a tumble dryer was most appreciated. There is no rear garden and the rear windows face directly onto a neighbour’s garden which at first we found to be very off putting. The steps leading to the front door may not be suitable for everyone. We enjoyed our week here but some things would benefit from the owners attention to bring the property up to its 5 star rating. There were insufficient baking trays for 4 people, they were well used and we had to scrub them before use as food was baked on them, the oven was also in dire need of a thorough clean. There was no bread bin, or plastic / Pyrex jugs or a gravy boat. The duvet cover and pillow slips were torn on one of the single beds and a mattress had a very large stain on it ( photo evidence retained ). We also had to keep the windows closed in both bedrooms as the boiler flu was situated between the rooms and the fumes were very unpleasant. No reading material, local maps or walking guides were provided which was a shame and the outside lights did not work, which made it difficult to negotiate the steps in the pitch dark as there is no street lighting in the village. The description of the accommodation was described accurately and provided the points we have raised are addressed we would happily recommend the property for a happy holiday.

"A great holiday in a delightful village setting."
The house was very comfortable, exceptionally clean and a lovely place to relax in. A good base for a walking holiday which start at the door and can be as short or as long as you wish. We've already booked it again for next year!
-
"A lovely stay in a delightful cottage with great facilities."
The cottage was so spacious and comfortable and the village very peaceful. Many walks from the village and good local pub close by. I would comment like other people that is would have helped if there were little gates at either end of the verandah to help keep our dog in but we did manage to barricade the escape routes..ha..ha…thank you for a lovely stay.
-
"The owner of this cottage keeps it clean & tidy."
Instructions are all in a folder. The only thing that would stop us going again is as follows and is the most important thing to people like us who actually self cater. To get to a cottage and find out that the hob is an induction hob is very frightening.T understand how it works and how it needs some working out.the other thing that you need is special pans etc,now these were in the cupboard but both frying pan and saucepan were in a terrible state with the non stick coating coming away. I am not sure if I have digested any . The last complaint is about the toilet seat As you can see I’m told this has been mentioned for over two years , do you not visit your port-folio to check on the standard of the property? After 5days we returned home due to illness and were unable to complete the required rubbish clearance.
-
"The only problem was the noise from the central heating boiler It is located outside the main bedroom and starts up around 06."
30 and is very loud The boiler needs a service and that should reduce the noise Everything else was great
-
"Lovely, comfortable cottage with everything we needed."
Very quiet location. Great communication with owner before our arrival. Local pub that had a patisserie was a welcome bonus. Would definitely recommend.
-
"A warm and very comfortable place in a lovely village."
Lots of walks from the doorstep. Highly recommended.
-
"Absolutely beautiful bungalow in a picturesque village."
The bungalow was perfect for us and nothing had been overlooked. It’s an absolute credit to its owners. Plenty of walking around the village and good base for travelling around the Yorkshire Dales. Enjoyed Low Bank so much we have booked a return visit next year.
-
"Lovely location in a quiet village between Settle and Kirkby Lonsdale."
Information about rubbish and recycling would have been helpful. Clothes airer and tin opener need attention as neither work. Comfy beds and good quality furnishings.Off street parking was a bonus.
-
"It was only a short stay but we were very happy and comfortable."
Wish we could have stayed longer!
-
"We had a lovely holiday and found this to be an excellent property that we would gladly visit again."
-
"Modern comfortable bungalow in a peaceful place."
Plenty of light in the rooms. Austwick is a lovely village with a useful shop and good pub. Booth supermarket is in Settle if you need a bigger shop. Lots of walking from the village. Circular to Clapham good and we included the Norber Erratics in the walk. Did each of the 3 peaks on different days, such wonderful scenery. Would have liked a visit to White Scar cave but ran out of time. A wonderful holiday location.
-
"Everything about Low Bank is very spot, being in a super location with lots of attractions close by, a great village pub serving quality food, country house hotel for fine dining and typical village shop selling everything."
-
"We really liked our stay in your cottage ."
Well situated, calme with walks from the doorstep, lovely fourniture, we appreciated the terrasse and had a wonderful time. We definitly recommend the cottage for anyone looking for a perfect break.
-
"The perfect Dales holiday property!"
All boxes ticked from me and my Boston Terrier Merlot! Low Bank is light, bright and airy with a modern feel situated in the ideal position for walks from the door, supplies from the local shop and 2 mins from the dog friendly local pub complete with their own bakery. The nearby dog friendly Traddock Hotel is also great for a drink in their peaceful, picturesque garden. The walk to neighbouring village Clapham and back on footpaths across farmland is highly recommended.

"Lovely cottage in a lovely location."
Could not fault it. Had an enjoyable stay. Thankyou.
-
"A fantastic stay, great location."
The owner of the property extremely helpful. Shop close by very useful unfortunately the pub also close by closed for the week we were there due to change of ownership. I would have no problem recommending this particular property.

"We had a great week."
The cottage is very comfortable and felt spacious. It was such a pretty and peaceful location. Austwick is a lovely village - the Gamecock is a must-visit for the delicious food and also the bakery/patisserie. We also enjoyed a drink in the Traddock. There was loads to do in the area; Malham Cove, Ingleton falls, White Scar Cave and the walk to Elaine’s Cafe in Feizor. We hope to be back! Thank you.
-
"First class cottage with everything you need, clean and well maintained."
A good village location especially for those that like peace and quiet. Good walks on the doorstep but within easy reach of Settle and Skipton. Village shop stocks the essentials and a meal at the Game Cock is a must, but need to book. The village has no street lights so if venturing out at night a torch might be a good idea. Excellent wifi coverage. Would certainly recommend and its one to keep on our list if we return to that area.
-
"This property is extremely well prepared, comfortable and clean, cannot find any fault except the the toilet seat needs some adjustment or change, very loose and for male use the seat will not stay upright."
This is one of the best we have experienced.
-
"Very comfortable indeed."
I hadn't really thought of Austwick as a walking base, but for a less strenuous range of walks, particularly the 5 miles to Settle, it was excellent. There IS a little microwave oven in the property, although not listed.
-
"Our return visit to Low Bank did not disappoint."
We enjoyed a relaxing week in Austwick with great walks straight from the door. Everyone is very friendly in the Village and the local shop is an added bonus. The accommodation is very comfortable, clean, well equiped and warm.
-
"This is a lovely cottage."
Spacious, modern and flooded with sunshine. We loved everything about it. Perfect for couples, or a family with older children. The furniture and fittings were excellent and we would highly recommend it. There is no garden but there is a lovely, very large, raised patio to the front which is ideal to sit out on. No gates to this area though so not suitable to contain young children or pets. There are lots of lovely walks to take directly from the cottage, a village shop and a pub - The Gamecock (you need to book weeks in advance as it’s very busy.
-
"Low Bank is a lovely property in a perfect location."
Spotlessly clean with good quality furnishings. Access is easy, driveway and parking more than adequate. The decked terrace overlooks the old church and dales beyond. The village pub is busy and the local shop is ideal with friendly owners. The only downside for us was that there are no gates, making the terrace not so dog ( or toddler ) friendly.
-
"Another very enjoyable holiday at Low Bank Cottage."
This cottage has everything we need and is very clean and comfortable. It is quiet and peaceful and ideally situated for accessing the beautiful surroundings. The owners are very helpful with any queries. We will definitely be coming back.
-
"Lovely comfatable bungalow with everything you could need,we found low bank very clean and I would certainly recommend it."
Austwick is a lovely village situated on the marvellous yorkshire dales also within reach of the southern parts of the lake district.this was our 2nd holiday in 18 months on the dales and certainly won't be our last thanks to the owners for providing us with a truly memorable holiday.
-
"A quality, well equipped cottage situated in a picturesque village."
Great walks are available from your front door to suit a variety of abilities and ambitions. The weather was against us, but we still managed a visit to the nearby Norber Erratics and also ventured up Crummack Dale. The local pub, The Game Cock, focusses on food and does get busy, so booking is advised. They are very welcoming and do a cracking Sunday dinner. The living room and kitchen have wooden floors, so slippers or woolly socks required in cold weather, though the rooms are very cosy. The oil fired heating (situated in an outside unit next to the double bedroom) was a bit noisy at night /first thing in a morning. However turning the thermostat down last thing at night worked wonders as the bed and duvet was comfortably warm and snug, even in February. Would definitely recommended this property as a great base to explore the Yorkshire Dales and would love to visit again.
-
"My parents stayed here for 2 weeks end of October/beginning of November."
They were extremely comfortable and very impressed with the quality of the fixtures & fittings. Ideal location close to the village shop and pub. They said they would certainly recommend Low Bank to family & friends looking for somewhere to stay.
-
"Fantastic clean and well furnished property."
Close to all amenities. Great base for walking In the area and surrounding areas. Would definitely recommend and will be returning.
-
"Very well equipped property - the only drawback is that there is no back garden at all - the adjoining properties back directly onto the property, which I found a little disconcerting and would also be a drawback if you had young children or pets but it was O."
K. as long as we kept the blinds drawn in the kitchen and bathroom! Otherwise, very good quality of fixtures and furnishings and everything worked well. We did have a power cut on our last full day but this was for the whole village and was communicated to us by the owners so we could plan to spend the hours affected out. The surrounding countryside, and Austwick itself, is very pretty and Skipton Castle was worth a look. All-in-all a very enjoyable stay.
-
"Wonderful cottage, great location."
We’ll be back
-
"Lovely cottage clean and comfortable."
Good location for what we wanted to do. Quiet little village with a lovely little general store and bakery. Would definitely stay there again.
-
"Low Bank is a beautiful cottage in a wonderful location - I was a bit unsure about staying somewhere in the middle of a village (I usually prefer cottages that are more remote) but the location was perfect."
Austwick is a lovely, friendly village with a lovely village shop just a short walk from the cottage, and there was also a refill shop (Green living - more or less opposite the pub) which also sold lovely children's toys. There is also a highly rated pub although we tried to book one evening only to find it was fully booked, so you may have to plan ahead if you wish to visit. The cottage is only 4 miles from Settle, which is a lovely place as well with plenty of good pubs (I'd recommend both the Talbot Arms and The Golden Lion - both dog friendly and family friendly pubs), cafes and shops. The cottage itself is very well appointed, it has a smart TV (with all the latest apps) and the wi-fi connection was excellent. The beds were very comfortable, and the shower room was fantastic. The kitchen is also very well equipped with an induction hob, oven, washer and drier as well as a large fridge/freezer with ample storage space. I would definitely return to Low Bank as we had a lovely holiday - just a few things prevented it from being perfect for us. * The cottage is advertised as dog friendly, but I'd say it was more dog tolerant. Dogs are not allowed on furnishings or in bedrooms (bedrooms are carpeted whilst rest of the cottage is wood flooring so this is understandable) - this is fairly standard so no real issue with this. The main drawback though is there is not really any secure outside area for the dog, the decking has no gates, so if our dog wanted to sit on the decking outside (we visited w/c 16th July - when there was a heatwave!), we had to put her lead on which was a shame - two gates at either entrances of the decking would solve this issue. Additionally, there is no grass that belongs to the cottage (there is a small patch that appears to belong to the cottage in front), so at night we had to walk our dog to the small green near the church (not even a 30 second walk, but it does get very dark!). *Again, this is somewhat connected to having a dog, but we were unable to locate a mop and bucket, and the vacuum provided wasn't very effective. (nor was the broom). There was a small garage next to the property, but it wasn't clear if this was ours or not. I always like to clean the cottage before we leave, but couldn't do a particularly good job and I can see this being an issue for walkers etc in rainier months if you want to get rid of muddy footprints etc. *A tumble drier and washer is provided, but we only found the clothes airer the day before we were due to return (master bedroom wardrobe) - so we had to hang some clothing over the decking fence to dry which wasn't ideal (not all clothes can go in a drier). You are provided with an information pack prior to arrival, but the location of some items would have been helpful (i.e. drier in master bedroom wardrobe, vacuum behind door to kitchen in living room). *This may be due to covid, but no oil or salt was provided (salt seller was empty, but pepper seller had some peppercorns in it) . A bottle of milk, coffee and teabags as well as some delicious tea biscuits were provided though - which was much appreciated!

"Exceptionally clean and immaculately presented accommodation in lovely area of the dales, with village facilities at hand."
-
"Lovely cottage in a beautiful village."
Very friendly village shop who provided us with a map of local walks and took the trouble to go through the routes with us. The cottage was clean, bright and spacious.
-
"Wow! What an amazing week we've had."
The cottage was well equipped with everything we needed. It was comfortable, clean and beautifully decorated. It most definitely felt like a home from home. We will be booking again. Close enough to amenities but far enough to feel secluded.
-
"I can not recommend this cottage highly enough."
It has everything you could possibly need in the most delightful setting. It is very clean and very comfortable. There was easy access from the door for both walking and biking, which we did plenty of. And luckily the weather was kind to us, dry and sunny. The scenery is magnificent and the village has a convenient and friendly shop, which was open. Unfortunately both the very nice looking pub in the village and the country hotel, were closed, presumably due to Covid, so I cooked everyday in the cottage's well appointed kitchen. I had expected this to be the case. But we will be back!! And we will try the pub, and eating at the hotel.

"This cottage is just perfect ."
Very spacious and couldn't fault it. Great location and lots of great walks .
-
"Wow, just wow!"
Absolutely blown away by this holiday cottage. Really clean, modern, stylish, comfortable and dog-friendly. It is clear to see that great care has been taken in modernising this property to a very high standard, making our week-long stay really relaxing and enjoyable. Cottage is in the perfect location in the heart of Austwick, only a couple of minutes walk from the local pub and shop. It is very quiet and peaceful as well as being a brilliant base for many great walks.
-
"Good holiday in a very comfortable recently converted barn in a lovely village with glorious country around"
-
"Low Bank is a lovely newly renovated bungalow, it has been done to a very high standard."
It had everything needed to make for a lovely relaxing holiday. Everything was very new and of a good quality, we were lucky with the weather so were able to make use of the lovely new decking and outdoor furniture every day during our week. Austwick is a great location if you want a quieter village but still with good facilities (Pub and Shop). There are great walks from the door so you do not need to use your car. The pictures of Low Bank do not do it justice as they were obviously taken before the property was fully furnished. We will book this property again.
