    “We really enjoyed staying in this property however we feel that it would have been better if there had been another comfortable chair in the lounge as the settee was a three seater and we were four adults.”

You are greeted into the property by a hallway, hosting a convenient cloakroom to freshen up in, before making your way into the kitchen, certain to entice any budding chefs, while the living/dining room allows you to come together with loved ones to enjoy an evening meal or gather round the woodburning stove as you get the popcorn ready for a family film night.

Upstairs there is a bathroom with both bath and shower, to allow you the choice of how to freshen up for the day, as well as a master bedroom and a twin room where you can catch up on rest ahead of an exciting new day.

Outside there is a sought-after off-road parking spot at the rear of the property, and a suntrap patio that boasts furniture to allow you to take your dining alfresco.

Backbarrow itself is home to the Lakeland Motor Museum and the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway, a 3.2-mile-long heritage railway where you can take a nostalgic trip between Haverthwaite Station and Lakeside Pier, or you can test your brain power at the Cliffhangerrooms, an award winning escape room.

Head north towards Lake Windermere to visit the National Trust Fell Foot Park, the aquarium, the historic Stott Park Bobbin Mill, or get in touch with nature as you take a scenic walk around Hay Bridge Nature Reserve.

A short drive in the opposite direction, you can head to the town of Ulverston where you will be spoilt for choice between traditional pub food with real ales or fine dining with a bottle of wine, and there is also plenty for the children with the Laurel and Hardy Museum, surrounding playgrounds and gardens, as well as just a little further to the South Lakes Safari Zoo.

Slightly further afield is an action packed day out at the beautiful Morecambe Bay with its famous stone jetty, historical clock tower, cycling path and trampoline park, or head to the north side of Lake Windermere to find plenty of picturesque walking routes setting off from the tourist town of Ambleside.

Ulverston is a traditional market town built around a cobbled main street. It boasts a fine selection of independent shops, café’s, and pubs with open fires and real ales. There is an extensive selection of eating places to suit everyone, from fine dining to traditional pub food. Ulverston is also well known as a festival town, with events ranging from flags and walking to art and music festivals throughout the summer months and with the renowned Dickensian Christmas festival in late November. It is the birthplace of Stan Laurel and world record holder of the biggest foam pie fight in the world giving a glimpse into the fun community spirited little town. There are excellent walks around the town and beautiful countryside, with views of the southern Lake District and Morecambe Bay. Home to the deepest, widest and shortest canal, which makes for a lovely afternoon walk with a pub at the end and views over the bay. All of the attractions of the National Park are also easily reached. The Furness Coast boasts sandy beaches and good birdwatching. Nearby family attractions include the South Lakes Wild Animal Park, Lakes Windermere and Coniston and popular Birkrigg Common, with its incredible panoramic views across Morecambe Bay.
