Beautiful accommodation, beautiful site and friendly owners. Cannot fault our stay, the whole family loved it and our teenage children have asked to return. High praise indeed. Thank you for a fantastic break!

  • "Fabulous stay at Billy Boo."

Loved the property which was ideal for us since our plan had been to spend majority of our time there since we were using it as a family catch-up. The videos showing how appliances work were a brilliant idea. We very much enjoyed the decking area, the hot tub and also a competitive game of bowls (our own) on the lawn. Lots of attention to detail which were very appreciated inc the regular and decaf coffee pods. The few items in the fridge were also a lovely touch. Thank you so much.

Really pleased you enjoyed it Gillian. Thank you xx Property Owner

  • "Gorgeous place, great location, close to lots of activities."

The cottage was fabulous, very comfortable and very well maintained. There’s a lovely walk you can do just off the grounds and the views are beautiful. Just a couple of things would make the stay even better, maybe a welcome basket of a few little bits (ie some fresh bread, snacks etc) would be nice considering how much it costs to stay there. Also only one frying pan, we did a lot of cooking so another one would have been handy. But we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to come back.

  • "Wow, what a wonderful family holiday at Billy Boo."

...Everything was fantastic inside and out. The lodge was contemporary, of a high standard and immaculate throughout. The hosts were welcoming and helpful. Its position is away from the hustle and bustle, allowing a peaceful retreat surrounded by countryside and nature when required. However, its also close enough to be a short drive to Windermere and easy access to the rest of the Lake District. Too much to summarise here...but its all good,an easy decision that we plan to return soon. Tell everyone...no keep it a secret!!

  • "Billy Boo is a truly fabulous holiday home."

We spent the most perfect Christmas there. The owners could not have done it enough for us, their communication pre arrival was superb and so helpful. On arrival all the extras made such a difference and showed how much they cared about us having a good time. The experience of Sykes cottages was also excellent. Information was always provided in advance and was clear and concise. We are already browsing for next year!

About the location

BACKBARROW

Newby Bridge 1 mile; Bowness-on-Windermere 10 miles.

The small village of Backbarrow sits by the banks of the River Leven and the southern tip of Lake Windermere. The famous Haverthwaite Steam Railway runs close by the village between Haverthwaite and Lakeside. Enjoy magnificent views across Windermere and the surrounding fells, or visit the Aquarium of the Lakes, where the naturally themed habitats bring the history of the Lakes vividly to life. Bowness-on-Windermere provides a lovely day out, and the picturesque village of Hawkshead still retains the charm and character that so endeared it to its most famous residents - William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter. Set amidst the charm of the Lake District, close to the fringe of Windermere, this attractive village makes an inspiring choice from which to forage further into a magical heartland of silver lakes, lofty towering peaks and lonely gorse clad moors.
