  • "A beautiful property in a fantastic location."

The property was perfect for our family stay, plenty of room for 4 adults and 2 children. The property is very modern and finished to a high standard. The bathrooms are particularly of a high standard and very clean too. We particularly liked the extra sitting room upstairs which gave us all extra space and a place for the kids to play. The gardens are also amazing with far reaching views over the hills, however it is deceptively steep so young children need to be supervised. The park to the side of the property also helped to keep the kids entertained. The location was perfect for us, 20 minute drive to Bowness, close to the zoo, and we took the steam train from Haverthwaite to Windermere where there is an aquarium and ferry which goes from Lakeside to Bowness and then to Ambleside. I would definitely recommend the property to anybody looking for a comfortable stay in a very good location.

  • "The house and gardens were very comfortable and well-equipped."

The house is also close to Booths supermarket and was easy to find. The driveway is also more than spacious enough for 4 large cars. We had glorious weather, so really appreciated the gardens and the high quality seating options outside, as well as the stunning views. The bathrooms were particularly lovely and very luxurious. There is a fire pit outside which we also used most nights which was a lovely touch. I would mention that the kitchen is a little small and difficult to navigate for lots of adults (there were 7 of us), although the owner had equipped the kitchen with lovely Le Creuset crockery and cookware and we had everything we needed in there. The main reason I didnt give it 5* was that we had quite a lot of contact from the owner, who wanted to meet us at the property as there was no key box (although there was one advertised on Sykes), and then tried to arrange to meet us again the next morning, and tried to arrange to come and cut the grass and water the plants throughout the week whilst we were there, as well as wanting to meet us on departure rather than allowing us to post the keys through the letterbox. Although we understand that some owners want to meet the guests upon arrival, and the owner was friendly, we found the constant requests to come round during our stay quite intrusive and had not experienced that in another Lake District property before.

I would like to thank you for taking the time to post this great review and pleased you enjoyed your stay. However, as I pointed out to you Sykes had posted about the key safe and I wasn’t aware of this. I do like to meet you on arrival to go through things, again when people check out I like to come and check you have enjoyed your stay. I have been running a guest house for 30 years and always want to make sure my visitors have a great holiday! We cut the grass when you were out which hadn’t been possible to do on the change over day and due to the extreme and unprecedented temperatures during this week it was vital the plants were watered which I courteously came and asked if I could water them ( this was the only time I knocked on the door during your weeks stay) and came back when you were all out to do so, only once and really they should have been done every other day through that heat. As the house is of a very high standard I like to maintain the garden to a high standard too - I only want to keep the outdoor space beautiful for you. Best wishes Jane Property Owner

The property is of a high standard with quality equipment in the kitchen. The bedrooms were all beautifully furnished and again featured high quality bedding and towels. The bathrooms and en-suite were also of a high standard. We cannot thank the owner enough for renting this beautiful home.

  • "This is a great house decorated tastefully throughout and with top quality fixtures and fittings."

Even the garden had tables and chairs on three levels to catch the sun at different parts of the day and blankets provided in case it was chilly. So much to do in this area we enjoyed a boat trip, steam train, the motor museum was great, ate at Some great pubs and restaurants but a car is essential here.

  • "Bishop Fell is stunning!"

The attention to detail and the beautiful furnishings from the lounge area, the bedrooms to the bathrooms have been chosen with care. The kitchen is well equipped and accommodated all 8 of us around the dining table. We had plenty of space to relax. The children enjoyed the little play park next to the property. Staying in such a lovely property really was the icing on the cake of our family weekend away and we all want to return next spring.

  • "We have just had a fabulous week at Bishop Fell."

There were seven of us (3 couples + 2 yr old grandson). The property was amazing - the luxury of each couple having their own bathroom was lovely. Bishop Fell is fitted out to a very high spec, even down to the crockery and pans etc which are all Le Creuset! Our host Jane was lovely and presented us with a nice basket of goodies on our arrival. The property is only 10 mins drive from local supermarkets and is ideally placed for exploring the southern lakes, and Windermere, Bowness, Hawkshead etc. We had a day at the South Lakes Safari Zoo at Ulverston which we highly recommend and its only a 30 min drive away. All in all we had a great week and cannot recommend Bishop Fell highly enough.

  • "Great location with excellent walks and activities close by and others within easy access of a short drive."

House itself is outstanding. Beautiful design and decor throughout and equipped with everything you could possibly need. Our party included 8 older and younger adults and we were all comfortably able to socialize and have our own space. Jane the host was very helpful and knowledgeable. All combine to make a highly recommended holiday home and location.

  • "The cottage was beyond our expectations."

It was clean and fresh. Very modern but also comfortable. Seven of us were there and we still had loads of room due to the careful design of the house which gives plenty of breakout space. Lovely garden so we were able to sit in the sunshine and look at the views, occasionally hearing the Haverthwaite train and it’s gentle rising steam through the trees. Marvellous!

Could do with a slightly softer one..otherwise everything about the house and location was brilliant. Jane was very friendly and helpful as our host.

The owners live nearby, were very helpful and have paid attention to detail in making the property comfortable, relaxing and functional. As a family of four we couldn't fault it.

It is a lovely, modern house decorated beautifully throughout. The bedrooms were spacious and there was plenty of room for the whole family. The three bathrooms are of a very high standard and were an extra bonus when staying with a large group. The facilities were ideal for groups/families staying together and we found the kitchen to be exceptionally well equipped with everything we needed. The owner, Jane was really helpful before and during our stay and the welcome hamper was much appreciated. The house is in a great location to explore the South Lakes with lots of mountains and fells to walk. We made a short drive to the beach and took the train and boat trip to Bowness. There are plenty of lovely pubs and restaurants close by, with the supermarket only a short drive away. We would highly recommend Bishop Fell for your family holiday and would love to stay again.
