The cottage was lovely and the weather hot and sunny. The only thing we could have done with was the use of a sun parasol as some afternoons it was to hot to sit outside without some shade. Thankyou to our hosts for providing a spotlessly clean and very well equiped cottage. We would have no hesitation in recommending Bill's Place to family and friends.

New windows, carpets and fully decorated throughout since our visit last year. Everything within is of good quality from the teaspoons to everything else in the fitted kitchen, the lounge and bedroom. There is a small but charming garden in a sunny position at the front with a seat to relax and watch the world go by, all add to make a stay there just as it should be. Very pleased that it is non-smoking and that animals are not allowed.

The bed was extremely comfortable and the water pressure fantastic.(Two important things for us on holiday) Wifi signal was amazing! Bainbridge itself is ideally situated for some beautiful walks. Due to the fuel situation we didn't venture more than a few miles in the car (although there is actually petrol and diesel in the village and there were no queues!) The local pub and the cafe were welcoming. We will return!

Bainbridge is a great base for the Dales and beyond - we visited York and Hebden Bridge without too much hassle - and Hawes is a good and near spot for shopping. And the best Eccles cakes ever! Bill's is such a lovely spot, so cosy and comfy and everything where and as it should be.

The owner contacted us to make sure we had all the details we needed prior to arrival. The standard of decor, furnishings and appliances is very high, modern and good as new but still appropriate to a country cottage, which really made a difference during a wet half-term. Everything was exactly as advertised. Great location for walking and exploring the area. The cottage has been renovated to a very high standard. It was spotlessly clean and lovely and warm. Ideal for two people. We would recommend walking to Askrigg and buying frozen home made meals from the BAKE-WELL cafe in the Market Place. Would also recommend a visit to Tennants Auctioneers in Leyburn with excellent parking, cafe and shop. Viewings are usually the day before the Auctions - very interesting! Very informative, chatty and warming and when we got to the cottage, everything was exactly as she’d advised. It was spotless, possibly one of the cleanest cottages I’ve stayed in! We had a baby with us too (who crawls and is in to everything) so we were confident it was clean enough for him. I’ve already recommended the cottage to my parents, it would be perfect for them too. Thank you.

We found Bills Place comfortable and cosy with everything we needed. It was a pity not to have a visitors book or maps to peruse but we understood that was the case before arriving so came well equipped. This is the second year we have visited Wensleydale and we thoroughly enjoyed all the walks and wonderful scenery, especially the waterfalls. We are very grateful to Mr and Mrs Dobson for providing tea, coffee milk and biscuits + notes on local restaurants so that we could prebook our evening meals. All in all a wonderful holiday.

Well equipped, good sized rooms, comfortable sofa and beds. Excellent for the two of us and would be very happy to go back again. The cottage is well located, and, being well set back from the main road, is very quiet. The village has a good butchers shop, village shop and tea shop so essentials are available if you don't want to go far. The local pub has mixed reviews, but we found it to be fine, and with friendly staff. We did walks directly from the cottage, used the bus service to go into Hawes and then walked back via footpaths across the hills. Lots of other lovely places to drive to, in stunning scenery. A very welcome break from a very good base

Kitchen very attractive and well equipped. Very sorry we had to leave early due to illness in the family. Didn't see one negative comment in the guest book - everyone else (and many had been 3, 4 or 5 times) had found it as warm and welcoming as we did. It's our second visit, and I'm certain it won't be our last. Bainbridge is an excellent base for visiting the better known areas of the dales - Ribblehead Viaduct, Ingleton Waterfalls etc - but also less-visited spots like Upper Wharfdale, and almost remote places like Muker. Even for a Bronte fan like me, Howarth is an easy day trip. Also, the bakers' in Hawes sells the best shortbread on the planet.

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Bill's cottage in Bainbridge."

This was a lovely, clean, well equipped and thought out cottage in a wonderful setting which was well located for exploring this part of the northern Yorkshire Dales. Stephanie, the owner, was very helpful in our initial 'access' conversation about the cottage and in providing local information. She also checked with us whilst we were there that we were happy and enjoying our stay with our needs being met. We initially struggled with the technology of a new tv set in the property but that was quickly resolved for us when we raised it. Lovely TV although we did not need to use many of the extra features available on it. Perhaps more of an ' idiots guide' could be left for future foolproofing the use of this TV. Don't like Sykes new website with the cottage reference search down the bottom and the ' hard sell' messages (one booked two minutes ago etc) when you are looking at a cottage online. Also popups adverst when looking at other sites reminding us of properties we had booked.
