  • "Fantastic stay at Squirrel Lodge."

The lodge was clean, very modern and very well maintained. Loads of room, more than we expected. Looking at some previous comments someone had mentioned the idea of net curtains... Any kind of netting would not suit this property as it would detract from the modern look and feel of the lodge, there is more than sufficient privacy by means of internal in built in window blinds. We would definitely recommend the lodge and would definitely return.

  • "Very nice Lodge in a quiet location but very easy to stroll into Gargrave where there's an excellent pub plus other basics."

The Lodge was comfortable and clean with generally good facilities. Two negative points = The TVs in the bedrooms were surplus to requirement as they only work off the main TV in the Lounge so can't be operated independently at all. Also though the living areas have good blinds there are none in the bedrooms which hinders privacy. All in all a good booking.

We had great days out in Malham and Bolton Abbey and had fun exploring Gargrave - which is a lovely town to be based in. Accommodation was to a high standard and we'd recommend staying here.

  • "We really loved Squirrel Lodge, we've stayed in a lot of holiday lets and this has been one of the best - the lodge itself is great, an excellent mix of practical (things like having a utility room by the front door, perfect for muddy walking boots!"

) and luxury. We weren't sure how it would be with other lodges around in the same park, but they've been thoughtfully laid out so it feels private. The location was excellent for walking, and there's a great curry house in the village, always a big plus! We're already planning to come back.

This is a wonderful lodge very high standard throughout wish we had stayed longer i am very fussy about bedding and towels and both where hotel quality Loved sitting on front terrace listening to birds very quiet Think the bedrooms should have blinds or netting on windows and some loungers on terrace would be fab as we had wonderful weather Will return ASAP 10 out of 10

  • "It's a beautifully appointed lodge but there are a few points that need addressing."

The lack of wifi is unacceptable in this day and age, and especially considering how much the lodge costs. Cushions and a parasol would have been a welcome addition. And the site where the lodge is situated could do with smartening up. When you approach it looks unfinished and not very attractive and the view from the main bedroom isn't great- a garden shed and machinery being used on site. It should be smartened up and something built to disguise it.

Thank you for your feedback following your holiday at Squirrel Lodge, this is not typical of the comments we receive for this property. The lodge doesn't have WIFI and is not advertised with this feature. The owner has ordered a new parasol and rattan furniture and this is due to be delivered today. The site is very well maintained. The garden shed is visible on the photographs of the property and is essential to store items away. The owner did advise prior to your holiday that there was a new lodge being delivered to the site during your break. Machinery is not usually present. The owner did leave a further note and compensation for this one off event. Once again, we thank you for your comments. Property Owner

Small criticisms are:- No coat hooks in bathrooms. No Wi-Fi Bedroom TV only show what is selected on set-top box in the living room. Channel cannot be selected from bedrooms.. We all enjoyed the time enormously and would certainly return in the future.

  • "Generally the lodge was good, however, there was a couple of issues that need addressed."

Firstly, in the information booklet it mentioned slippers to keep, there were none, when I asked the owner she replied, “ Oh dear I didn’t think that was still there”. The range of kitchen utensils could be better, but as I say mostly good.

Thank you for your feedback. As explained in the welcome booklet, all information was correct at the time of print. This has since been updated, as slippers are no longer provided. With regards to the Kitchen utensils, your comments have been taken onboard and brand new ones have been provided. Thank you. Property Owner

  • "Stayed st Squirrel Lodge, Gargrave, for the second year."

What amazing accommodation, everything you need is provided. We are Grandparents with a grandson aged 9 and granddaughter aged 6. Squirrel Lodge was perfect. There is so much around the area for them to do. Aireville Park in Skipton has a brilliant skate park for scooters and bikes. It has a brand new play area and a tree top adventure. The swimming pool is in the Sports Centre within the park. You can easily walk into Skipton through the park and on the tow path. If it is raining why not try ten pin bowling, the Plaza Cinema, the Play Gym or Coffee and Clay in Skipton. We visited Skipton Castle and did the Castle Woods walk as Nature Detectives. The Welly Walk at Bolton Abbey from the stepping stones to the Strid is a must, with all the obstacles along the way, we spent a couple of hours with them playing on the ship and in the sand at the Strid end. The day ended with paddling back at the stepping stones. Why not try a day by the side of the River st Burnsall, its a fabulous day out. A bucket, a fishing net [yes we did catch fish], and a small dinghy were all we needed, but there is so much space there you can also fly kites, play football and swing ball. This year we did the National Trust Bush Trek at Malham. What a fabulous afternoon we had with the Rangers. We had a lovely walk, ate plants, did den building, toasted marshmallows and played games. In the past we have visited local farms and also dined at Billy Bobs Ice Cream Parlour. They had great fun on the swing ropes in the hay barn. I have already booked for next year and the children can’t wait. Pam West Yorkshire

  • "This holiday lodge is lovely don’t have any complaints about it."

The niggle would no where comfortable to sit as the sofa and one chair are all for slouching in, not comfy. Also no WiFi which in life has become something we have been used to as one of our party had to do some work at the beginning of the holiday which was a struggle as the pub which has WiFi was not close enough. There is work going on at this area as more lodges are being added to the field which can be noisy although they did ask us if we minded, but keep this in mind if you are looking to go here soon and want peace and quiet .

  • "The lodge was as lovely as expected."

However, we agree with previous comments that an extra chair would be a good addition for four guests and that the heating settings need to be altered. Why have it come on so early in the morning and it not be on until later in the afternoon? The lighting over the dining table didn’t work and neither did the DVD player which weren’t major issues but still need fixing. All in all a very nice place to spend a few days. We would recommend the Masons Arms - had a lovely meal there.

    - The instruction sheets for the TV, microwave, oven, etc were excellent! The TV system is a bit cumbersome, so the instruction sheet helped. But there was no sheet for the bedroom TV, so we had to work out that it was fed by the unit in the sitting room. - The sitting room could do with a second armchair for when there are four people.
