"A great blessing to stay in the Nook, such tranquility and the standard of the property was very high, decor, equipment etc."
Nice touch was a bowl of roses left for us by the owner on the hall table. Very gracious owners whom we met on several occasions.
"Fabulous home from home."
Really well equipped, beautifully kept, friendly neighbours and friendly, helpful host. The cottage is set in a beautiful spot with a lovely little garden and amazing views. If you like a walk there are plenty of options and even a 1.5 mile walk along the canal to Gargrave which has some great local pubs, serving good food, and coffee shops. Definitely recommend.
Thank you for your generous and positively expressed comments, Catherine Property Owner
"The Nook at Bank Newton is a delightfully quaint country cottage in a tranquil location with spectacular rural views at the rear of the property overlooking the garden and orchard."
In addition, there are some great countryside walks on the doorstep. The cottage is a mixture of traditional (living room and upstairs) and modern (kitchen and bathroom) and is tastefully styled and decorated to an exceptionally high standard and offers a wide range of high quality home appliances and facilities to make the stay extremely comfortable, enjoyable and relaxing.
Thank you for your generous and positive comments about The Nook Bank Newton, particularly your enjoyment of the modern kitchen and shower room contrasting with the traditional yet tasteful sitting room and bedroom. Catherine Property Owner

"Everything was perfect"
"This 2 bed cottage is absolutely delightful and perfect in every way."
Location is superb, view from the cottage garden is lovely with the sheep and the cows. The cottage is cosy, homely and extremely well equipped, the beds are soft and comfy with white crisp quality linens. Bathroom is fabulous and the shower is outstanding, its all so clean and well presented. The kitchens extremely well kitted out with good quality white goods and has every utensil you could wish for. Its a five minute walk to the canal which is great for a flat walk and also the walk to Gargrave's local pub, The Masons Arms is a real bonus. I would highly recommend this cottage, Catherine & William are warm and welcoming and the stunning Dales are on your doorstep 11/10. Top quality holiday cottage.
"I gave Sykes Cottages 1 because of the way we were treated last year in lockdown."
We were told we had to pay in full even if we were not allowed to go and may not get our money back. After much discussion we were allowed to defer until this year. Also you put the price up without telling us. The Nook Cottage was one of the best we have stayed in.
"This little cottage is quite simply delightful with a neat and tidy garden, comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen and superb bathroom."
Catherine’s thoughtfulness which included baking us a delicious homemade lemon cake made us feel very much at home. We would certainly like to return as this is one of the best places we have ever stayed.
"We had a lovely stay in the Nook."
Catherine made us a cake which we enjoyed very much. the facilities are excellent. Kitchen is very well stocked with everything you might need. just bring food, and clothes.Would definitely recommend .
"This is a perfect holiday cottage."
In a beautiful relaxing part of the world. Cottage is spacious, clean and comfortable. Gorgeous garden. Enjoyed a very peaceful break here. Ideal for local walks and short drive to Malham. Can't recommend highly enough.
"We booked last minute and were fortunate to secure 5 nights in October."
The Cottage was wonderful, warm and extremely well equipped. I would imagine that the cottage would be the perfect spot to locate any time of the year. It is a couple of miles from Gargrave in a hamlet called Bank Newton. Catherine lived close and was a great source of knowledge for local walks as well as walks further afield. The cottage is a stone's throw from the Liverpool-Leeds Canal which has pretty walks in both directions. Airedale, Wharfedale, Bolton Abbey, Grassington, Kettlewell, Malham, Settle, Kettlewell, and numerous other Dales Beauty spots (to say nothing of Tearooms) are nearby. The George at Hubberholme is to be recommended, terrific food, local beer and a genial Mine Host. Buckden, stop off at the George for lunch, Scar House, Cray and back down to Buckden is a lovely walk. Back to the Cottage for tea and some of Catherine's super cake...............what's not to like! Geoff
"This was a brilliant cosy, comfortable and well proportioned cottage, excellent bathroom, bedroom."

"A lovely, spacious cottage with a delightful garden and wonderful views."
Good walks from the cottage. We enjoyed the cake made by the welcoming owner and would recommend this cottage.
"Our first time in this part of England, but not our last ."
... The Nook is in a perfect location in gorgeous farmland with cows and calves right at the fence, a short walk to the canal with its towpaths, boats and locks. Home from home would describe the cottage with the owner (Catherine) on hand to ensure that we lacked for nothing. The most comfortable bed ever...great WiFi and stunning bathroom. If the virus prevents our Spring 2021 holiday abroad we will be back for sure. We would highly recommend The Nook and this part of Yorkshire.
"Lovely quiet location."
Catherine the owner makes you feel very welcome. Can’t wait to go back!
"The holiday experience was even better than expected because of the owner's warm welcome and home-made cake!"
"We really enjoyed our week in Nook Bank, it was a great location, close to the village of Gargrave."
It was very clean and warm and cosy. The owner, Catherine welcomed us on arrival and baked us a lovely cake to enjoy whilst we were there. Would highly recommend this cottage.
"This cottage is beautiful and the host is a lovely, kind lady."
All around in the village are glorious walks that lead you through to the canal. All in all a fabulous experience
"This was possibly one of our best holidays ever."
My partner and I have fallen in love with the Yorkshire Dales. The 17th century cottage is right in the heart of the countryside, Bank Newton being a tiny hamlet? and the nearest village being Gargrave. It was so peaceful and relaxing. The cottage itself is beautiful and in keeping with a property of that period. I loved the little garden with the arch and the roses, leading straight onto a field of cows. It was lovely to wake up in the morning, open the windows and hear cows and sheep. The bedroom and the living room were so cosy - impossible not to relax here. The kitchen and the bathroom had everything conceivable that one could need. There is a very good farm shop called Keelan that sold fresh, local produce nearby. We did a lot of walking on this holiday, there was always a sense of space, we rarely bumped into anyone. This part of Yorkshire remains unspoiled. I would thoroughly recommend staying at this cottage. The owner was so thoughtful and concerned that we should enjoy our stay. We are already thinking about whether it would be possible to book the same holiday again this time next year.
"Geweldig mooie cottage in een prachtige omgeving."
De gastvrouw is ongelofelijk hartelijk. Zeer positieve ervaring.
"Beautiful cottage in stunning surroundings Absolutely loved staying there"
"We stayed in this cottage for two weeks whilst having some building work done on our house nearby."
So although we weren't actually on holiday, it felt like we were - the cottage is well-equipped and spotless and surrounded by glorious countryside with many walks and lots of wildlife. Would definitely recommend it.
"A very pleasant and well looked after cottage."
"We had such a lovely fortnight in this cottage."
The setting was so nice with a great view of hills and fields from the rooms. The decor was much less chintzy than the pictures led us to expect and had great artwork and was super cosy. Catherine was very helpful and made us a fabulous apple cake with apples from her garden. Cannot recommend this as a place to stay highly enough!
"The Nook It’s a wonderful place to get away from it all ,very comfortable every think you wanted was there and lots of lovely walks from the doorstep very close to the Leeds and Liverpool canal , we would be happy to book it again in the near future ."
The owner Mrs Downs is very helpful with everything . Was truly a wonderful week thank you very much .
"The owner is more than helpful and the flowers in the Hall on arrival gave that homely touch"
"Our stay at The Nook was an absolute delight."
The cottage is very well furnished and is situated in a very relaxing location. We travelled everyday visiting lots of lovely places and it’s location made this a joy. Kate made our visit unforgettable with a delicious home baked lemon drizzle cake.
"Its a peaceful location in pleasant countryside yet within a mile or two of shops in Gargrave village."
The cottage is cosy, nicely furnished and has a luxurious bathroom. The owner surprised us by baking a cake of our choice! I was able recharged the battery on our hybrid car although an external 13A socket would have avoided cold draughts coming through the front door!
Very Peaceful. Delightful well equipped cottage, lovely garden. Will go again.
