It is extremely comfortable and well equipped and very much a home from home. The Welcome Pack was indeed 'welcome' and Elaine did a marvellous job in ensuring the property was ready for our arrival. She was a good contact prior to our arrival and a good source of local information. The Red Pump Inn was closed during our stay but Waddington has some good pubs. Clitheroe is interesting and has a good market and supermarket.

We had a brilliant time at The Old Forge. The house was cosy even though it was so large, while having four bathrooms for five guests was a tremendous bonus. The house was filled with masses of old books, paintings, samplers, furniture and an abundance of interesting nick backs. Many a Mario Kart race was held on the Nintendo Wii when the weather was poor. Normally a staycation property is just a base, however The Old Forge was a huge part of our holiday. The owners were very helpful too. A five star house without any hesitation.

We've stayed here before so we knew how delightful the Old Forge is and we immediately felt a sense of calm and relaxation when we arrived; the usual welcome hamper and lovely flowers on the dining room table set the scene There were a couple of minor gripes about the central heating coming on in the middle of the night but only the temperature controls are available to tenants - not the frequency or duration - and a power cut that happened to the whole of Bashall Eaves caused the house alarm to beep continuously until we managed to get the access code from the housekeeper, but these were just little irritations and the central heating problem was resolved during our stay Overall we had a lovely time and am sure we'll be booking again

We discovered that going past the property and turning round at the next junction was a much safer approach Exiting can also be hair-raising as you don't have a view of on-coming traffic until you're actually half across the road - perhaps a mirror on the hedge opposite would be a good idea

Amazingly well-equipped and spotlessly clean, it would say that 'It's just like home', but of course it's better than that because it's located in one of Britain's loveliest, quietest and least populated areas. There is simply nowhere to equal the Ribble Valley and the Bowland fells. Forget what other counties say, Lancashire has them all beat but we just don't shout about it like others do. (But I was born in Lancashire so there is a slight elemnet of bias in my opinions) Sykes is our favourite holiday operator having never provided anyhting less than excellent service during all of the years during which we have dealt with them. Extremely glad we got this cottage because it was perfect for us, so much so that we have already booked it again in September. It's very handy for local walks and for Pendle Hill with a great pub 200 yards walk away ( The Red Pump Inn ) as well as other great pubs/restaurants less than 6 miles away. Our only minor criticism is we would have liked more comfortable seating in the garden. Whilst the existing wooden furniture is very good and practical, it could have done with thick cushioned seats and backs to allow us to relax outside for longer periods. Apart from that, it was and is a wonderful find. Can't wait for September.
