  • "The facilities & standard of the property were first class."

It is in a very quiet tranquil setting of glorious rolling countryside. The property is quite far off the beaten track, so may not appeal to some, but we found it restful & rural. The groceries left for us were a lovely thought & the two friendly chickens visited us every day! We didn't see a great deal of the owners, only on arrival & departure, but everything was fine. The only downside was the intermittent signal for the television & wifi.

The views from the cottage are outstanding. Owners are very thoughtful and provide tea, coffee, milk, butter, eggs, bread and Jam. There were plenty of logs included too. There were plenty of books, maps and walks. The owners were very informative in their folder. The chickens are adorable. It was just what we needed. Thank you so much Sue & George

  • "The best staycation I've had."

The photos can't do the cottage justice as it's so cosy, beautifully decorated and relaxing as soon as you open the door. Upstairs was like a 5 star hotel with a wonderful bath, shower and mirror as well as the largest, most comfortable bed I've slept in. The hosts were available but respectful of our privacy and the welcome food pack was delicious too. We will be back and hope it's not booked up too quickly as we'll be back again in the Summer. Thank you so much.

  • "We had a fantastic week at Knotts Rest and the facilities and location were great."

The cottage was presented to a very high standard and everything you could need had been thought of. The bedroom and bathroom were designed to a very high standard and you have plenty of room to relax and rest upstairs. The views from the windows whilst sitting in bed were very nice as well. The cottage does have a washing machine, but we hadn’t noticed this in the details, as the description was at the top of the page rather than at the bottom where you generally find all of the facilities listed. Would definitely recommend this cottage as a location and hope to be back again soon.

  • "The ultimate in hideaway cottages - remote and peaceful."

Owners very friendly and helpful. Upstairs is great - spacious bedroom, very comfortable bed and a superb bathroom. Downstairs a disappointment by contrast. The living area and kitchen was too cramped a space for comfort whilst sitting out the persistent rain which unfortunately dogged our stay.

  • "Knotts Rest is a super cottage for two."

The utility and downstairs loo were a great surprise. Accommodation downstairs is cosy. Everything was very clean and of a very high quality with wonderful accessories. Upstairs is more spacious with wonderful views from all the windows. The dressing room gives a significant amount of storage space and the bathroom is wonderful with a large bath and shower. The cottage is very quiet and peaceful with only sheep and the cheeky hens to disturb guests.

About the location

Settle 6 miles; Clitheroe 12 miles; Skipton 15 miles.

Tosside is a small, attractive Yorkshire Dales village set between the Forest of Bowland and the Yorkshire Dales, six miles from Settle, and fifteen miles from Skipton, popularly known as The Gateway to the Dales. Historically part of Yorkshire, following boundary changes in the 1970s, the village now straddles two counties, with the Eastern part of the village in Yorkshire, and the Western part in Lancashire! The village is home to a local pub, a church and a community centre. To the north, the landscape rises to the fells, moors and picturesque valleys of the Dales, while to the south are the wetlands of the Ribble Valley, which in turn, sweep upward to the magnificent wilderness of Bowland, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Nearby Settle is a bustling market town with a weekly market, the centre being dominated by the Shambles, an historic 3-storey building with shops on two levels and houses above, or for a great day out, travel on the renowned Settle-Carlisle Railway line, which crosses some of the most beautiful and inspiring upland scenery in the country. Venture to Clitheroe, a busy market town full of lively bars and restaurants, friendly pubs, and a castle!
