This was our second visit. We love the isolation coupled with access to Clitheroe and the Forest of Bowland. Beautiful scenery even in the snow. It has been akin to living in a christmas card in December; a cosy warm, well hosted get-a-way.

It has all the attributes of a peaceful break in the country. It isn't the easiest place to locate and the access road can be a bit of a challenge, though none of this is the fault of the owners. On the whole, a very enjoyable stay.

We normally have a couple of self catering breaks every year, and have enjoyed over 35 trips in the last 20 years, our stay at Knotts Rest was definitely in our top 3! This is a rural property, accessed by rural country roads, but this shouldn’t put anybody off considering a stay here. If you crave peace, quiet and rest then add this destination to your shortlist.

Thank you for your positive feedback. The council has now filled the potholes and the lane is looking better! Property Owner

It is in a very quiet tranquil setting of glorious rolling countryside. The property is quite far off the beaten track, so may not appeal to some, but we found it restful & rural. The groceries left for us were a lovely thought & the two friendly chickens visited us every day! We didn't see a great deal of the owners, only on arrival & departure, but everything was fine. About the location

TOSSIDE

Settle 6 miles; Clitheroe 12 miles; Skipton 15 miles.

Tosside is a small, attractive Yorkshire Dales village set between the Forest of Bowland and the Yorkshire Dales, six miles from Settle, and fifteen miles from Skipton, popularly known as The Gateway to the Dales. Historically part of Yorkshire, following boundary changes in the 1970s, the village now straddles two counties, with the Eastern part of the village in Yorkshire, and the Western part in Lancashire! The village is home to a local pub, a church and a community centre. To the north, the landscape rises to the fells, moors and picturesque valleys of the Dales, while to the south are the wetlands of the Ribble Valley, which in turn, sweep upward to the magnificent wilderness of Bowland, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Nearby Settle is a bustling market town with a weekly market, the centre being dominated by the Shambles, an historic 3-storey building with shops on two levels and houses above, or for a great day out, travel on the renowned Settle-Carlisle Railway line, which crosses some of the most beautiful and inspiring upland scenery in the country. Venture to Clitheroe, a busy market town full of lively bars and restaurants, friendly pubs, and a castle!
