    Great location quality home with lots of wonderful walks and areas of interest around. Comfortable beds and the log burner was a welcome addition. Small suggestions lights for the make up mirrors, a rack in the shower for toiletries otherwise top notch!

  • "We had a lovely stay in Granary Cottage."

    The owners were most welcoming and gave us lots of good information about the area, places to visit, good places to eat and much more. It was a particularly cold week and they were most obliging, by altering the heating to be on longer for us. The cottage was well equipped and the furnishings were all lovely. The town of Bellingham is beautiful and plenty to do. A great relaxing break.

    Spacious, comfortable, beautifully furnished, luxurious bath sheets - everything you could possibly want/need with the possible exception of egg cups! The welcome hamper our hosts provided was much appreciated. Margaret was extremely friendly and more than happy to share her local knowledge, offering suggestions about the best places to visit and where to eat. All in all, a wonderful holiday.

    The location of the cottage couldn’t be better in that although it’s on a working farm is just a few minutes from the centre of Bellingham village There’s good off street parking just outside the cottage The smart tv’s are superb quality and wi-fi rock solid for ipads , iphones etc All in all an outstanding cottage which we are more than happy to recommend

    We had everything we needed for an excellent stay. The owners were very friendly and welcoming too. Bellingham is a lovely large village / small town, with local shops, places to eat and drink (including an excellent small brewery) within a few minutes walk of the cottage, with lots to do and see in the surrounding area. We also had a few sheep for neighbours!

    30 am each weekday morning. We were not there at the weekend so can't comment on that. We think potential bookers should be given some warning of this.

  • "Absolutely beautiful barn conversion."

    Inside, the furnishings and decoration were so well done. Our bed was very comfortable and the showers and bath worked so well. It was very cosy and kept us warm when the temperature outside went down - in fact we turned a couple of radiators down! The kitchen diner was perfect and the underfloor heating much appreciated. The only suggestion I would make - a new large frying pan - probably well used on most holidays!

    Margaret and Robert were great hosts, and gave good advice on places to visit. It was a huge treat to have a wonderful home to come back to after a day’s walking. Spotlessly clean and furnished superbly. We would say this is by far the best holiday cottage we have stayed in, and would recommend it to anyone wanting a break in Northumberland, with lots to do locally, and great National Parks (Cragside/Wallington, Hadrians Wall walks, The Sill). Thanks for the use of this lovely home, and we look forward to a return visit.

    Spotlessly clean, furnished with style and comfort and equipped with everything you could need including a lovely village, craft butcher, bakery, useful co-op and a choice of places to eat. Lots to see and do in the area. Really appreciate being able to stay in a property that is pet free which is so helpful for anyone with allergies or asthma. Tip: If Margaret recommends anywhere to visit or a place to eat do follow her advice. You will be delighted you did. This is definitely a five star plus property.

  • "What a wonderful place, so well appointed, all you require from a cottage and more."

    Very spacious, even a utility room. Very well positioned right in the heart of Bellingham, there are a couple of pubs, the Cheviot is the best, a post office, coop, chemist, Chinese takeaway (really good), bakery (lovely pies), 2 gift shops and The Fountain Cafe is a must. Just a short drive (8 miles) away., near Kielder is the Pheasant restaurant, really good, but you must book. Kielder Water Bird of Prey Centre is well worth a visit as is the village of Corbridge. Enjoyed our stay very much, I recommend this cottage, pure luxury.

    The decoration and finishing touches are superb. For we older people the walk-in showers are much appreciated and the huge bed is luxurious. The laundry room, though we didn't take advantage of the washer and dryer, is a very useful place for hanging up coats etc. The huge kitchen is delightful and extremely well equipped. A warm and comfortable place to stay, and lovely to see the friendly sheep in the adjacent field!

  • "Blissful holiday stay in Bellingham Lovely, spacious and very clean holiday cottage with wonderfully comfortable beds and excellent en-suite bathrooms."

    Well-stocked kitchen and care has been taken to make your stay stress free and enjoyable. The owners are super friendly and will offer useful tips about places to visit and things to see. The local Co-op is open every day and has most things you might be looking for. Bellingham is not big but I found no less than 3 public charging points for my hybrid car! During our 1-week stay we explored places like Cragside, Wallington, Vindolander, Corbridge, Banburgh Castle, Amble and the Holy Island amongst others. Tea on the train, an advertised local lunch or afternoon tea venue is definitely worth the visit (especially as it is just around the corner!). Negatives: Nope, can’t think of any!

The owners are lovely, the village has everything you need, there are walks from the door and there is lots to see and do within a short drive. (The cottage is on a working farm and positioned on a lane, so there is the associated noise. This didn’t bother us in the slightest but it’s something to be aware of, if looking for total peace and quiet.) Would highly recommend!

    Extremely comfortable bed, which is exactly what is needed after a days walk. Margaret and Robert (owners) are lovely people, offering lots of ideas for walks, restaurants ensuring we had the perfect stay. They are very hard working (cottage is on a working farm) but still had time to meet and greet. This is the best cottage we have stayed in … from well equipped spacious kitchen, lovely snug and super cosy bedrooms. Whilst we had to keep an eye on work emails, (just a little)wifi is super fast. Bellingham is a fab location, don’t miss the walk to the waterfall, and pop into the local shops/cafes … we were lucky to be there when there was a classic car show on Sunday morning… great show of cars, Tea on the train and a visit to the Heritage Centre… to learn about Kielder Forest/dam is a must. A stay at Granary Cottage was so enjoyable, we loved it C&D

    The accommodation is second to none – carefully planned to provide a very pleasant and restful atmosphere within this delightful friendly country town. We liked the feel of living in a re-juvenated farm building which has served in one way for many years and which now has found an ideal new characterful use. For us the location of Granary Cottage within the heart of Bellingham was a bonus – so close to shops, café’s and places of interest and within striking distance of all the North Tyne Valley has to offer.

We couldn't fault it, the only thing I'd say is to add more to the listing, likes of: basket of wood in winter months - underfloor heating - generous kitchen area (photos can be deciving when first looking on website) - utilities room, was a god send, I could imagine walking families would be attracted to this - smart TV's - large beds with towels supplied. A great place with quality in mind from host Margret.

    Fabulous facilities with a brilliant kitchen that has every implement and utensil you could need as well as a lovely welcome pack and some gorgeous fresh lilys. The cottage is really well placed for any kind of adventure and we found lots to do from walking to playing golf. Margaret had thought of everything and the decor in the bedrooms is just lovely - had such good sleeps in the comfy beds. We would love to return but need to make sure this gem isn’t heard about by too many as everyone will want to go!!!

    I was in trouble with my wife for procrastinating about booking accommodation in Northumberland. For once in my life, it worked out to my advantage. We were able to book a week’s stay within just a few days of the property being advertised by Sykes for the first time. Margaret’s records showed we were their 5th booking in less than a week. If I had booked somewhere else sooner, as instructed, we would have missed this wonderful place to stay. You will not be disappointed by Granary Cottage. Very well furnished; central location in Bellingham, which is a delightful small town. Lots of space; stylish furniture with big, comfortable beds in the two bedrooms. The kitchen must surely satisfy the most discerning and demanding guest, whether male or female. Margaret, the property owner, is friendly, thoughtful and kind; one of the best we have encountered. We can’t rate this property highly enough; very satisfied customers!

    Margaret and Robert are extremely dedicated, hard-working hosts, always on hand for local recommendations yet respectful of our privacy. The cottage was immaculate in every way with many personal touches and in a great location to explore the many attractions Northumberland has to offer. Thank you so much for making this such a memorable (and much-needed, due to the pressures of the pandemic) holiday for us all........we absolutely loved it and will undoubtedly be back to hear how Coco the calf is doing. We would highly recommend this cottage.

Arriving at the property, step into the sitting room where you will find a relaxing blue colour scheme which runs through the property, a Smart TV and quality sofas you can look forward to snuggling up on, as well as a warming woodburning stove and characterful exposed stone walls.

From here, make your way into the spacious kitchen/diner which will make the ideal social hub throughout your stay; the space offers a large dining table where you can enjoy your meals as a group and catch up the day's events, as well as all the appliances you need to concoct mouth-watering meals for your group, including an electric range cooker with a five-ring hob and a double oven.

Enjoy your morning coffee at the breakfast bar on the stylish kitchen island; the skylights allow the morning sun to peek through and allows an abundance of light into the space, while the original wooden beams keep with the character of the cottage.

Known as the ‘capital’ of the North Tyne Valley, this delightful town of natural stone houses nestles close to the banks of the River North Tyne.
