    The owners had helpful labels & ties throughout the house & provided a comprehensive set of instructions prior to arrival. The house was exactly as described, the rear garden was nice and secure and so we were able to let our dog roam without concern. The Upsteps pub around the corner was very friendly & welcoming. A good stay & base from which to explore the Liverpool area.

  • "As regular Sykes Cottage visitors this is one of the most fantastic homes we have stayed in, everything we could have wished for was available it was clean and fresh, local shop & pub nearby nice steady ½ hour walk into Southport and approx."

    15mins to Birkdale Village which is a lovely friendly place. Welcome Wine & Shortbread very much appreciated. We will definitely be visiting again.

  • "We really enjoyed our stay at Brandon’s."

    The owners have definitely gone the extra mile to make it a very good home from home. Very tastefully decorated and various extra touches that make the house feel homely and not just a holiday rental. The kitchen had everything you would need to cook a banquet. Bed very comfortable and the en suite a bonus. There is a very pleasant garden fully secure if you have your dogs with you. The property is within a a 20/25 minute easy walk into Southport town centre and promenade. A very slight minus it’s on quite a busy road. We would definitely go back

  • "This holiday was extremely satisfactory both for comfort cleanliness etc, but it might be worth mentioning that both toilets are up stairs as we are both in our 70s and the times we went up stairs was something else although I do think it strengthened my thigh muscles."

  • "Brandon’s was a perfect location for me because it was in close proximation to Hillside GC."

    I played in the Sr Open Qualifier there. Condo was very well appointed, clean and stocked with everything you would need for your stay. If you are not used to it, the road noise was a bit overbearing. Brandon’s is located on one of the busiest streets in Southport. It was also very warm during our stay and the upstairs bedrooms became quite warm. Opening up the windows let in more road noise. Also, the master bath shower fluctuated hot and cold. This might be a problem when the other shower is running, dishwasher or clothes washer is running at the same time.

  • "The cottage was located an easy 20 minute walk to the sea front and not far from the local golf courses so an ideal base for the weekend."

    The cottage was the best equipped we have ever stayed in you name it, it was there. Beds, bedding, towels and toiletries as supplied were of a high standard and the showers in both rooms excellent. If we head up that way again we would defiantly rebook this cottage. Southport its self was also a surprise lots of things to do and places to eat and drink, food and drink is very reasonable compared to prices in the South of England. If you had a good evening out and you don't fancy the walk back a Taxi cost just over £4.00.

  • "The house was exceptionally clean and tidy and comfortable."

    The description on Sykes website was accurate and pictures were true to what we found when we arrived at the house. The kitchen was particularly well stocked with utensils and crockery. The house owners made good efforts to liaise with us prior to arrival, at arrival -checking all was as we wanted (by text) and were available by text for any queries during our stay. There was a dvd player that was easy to operate. The totally enclosed rear garden made it safe for our medium sized dog to spend some time safely outside without incident or concerns. There are good golf courses nearby or within 1 hours drive and some good dog walks and dog friendly cafes too. I would have no hesitation in staying at this property again and would recommend to others looking to stay in that locality. A peaceful, relaxing break for family including our medium sized dog.

  • "Brandons is a lovely holiday home, very spacious and comfortable with a really nicely designed kitchen and décor, very clean and very well equipped."

    We stayed over the Christmas week to visit family and the Christmas decorations and welcome pack were really lovely and very much appreciated. There is off street parking right at the front door and the back garden is very private and fully enclosed so no problems letting our dog out. There's a great dog walk adjacent to the Royal Birkdale golf club only a few minutes drive away.

The property

This heart warming semi detached house is conveniently located near Birkdale Village in Southport, in the North West of England.

Comprising of two beautifully presented bedrooms with lovely co-ordinated colour schemes, this property comfortably sleeps four guests.

Pleasantly keeping you toasty and warm with full gas central heating throughout.

The house also has an electric feature fireplace in the living room.

There is free WiFi and a large Smart TV for the guests to use.

A wonderfully appointed kitchen is situated to the rear of the property with helpful, modern fixtures and a breakfast bar with little touches like the Nespresso Coffee machine which will help to ease you into a relaxing coastal break.

This room leads outside to a lengthy garden, privately enclosed with furniture on the patio so you can sit outside and enjoy the garden.

Back inside a lovely feature archway separates the sitting area from the dining area creating a spacious open plan interior with laminate flooring, luxury sofas, and a dining table with chairs.

Climb the stairs over the plush grey carpet where you will come to the family bathroom, and another few steps reach the bedrooms.

The zip and link kingsize room has an aspect overlooking the rear garden, thoughtfully presented with your comfort in mind.

The double bedroom located at the front of the house, boasts an ensuite shower room with a modern fitted basin, WC, alongside a good sized fitted shower.

There is also a TV for guests in this room.

Off street parking is also an additional convenience that this property offers.

Throughout your stay you can enjoy the pleasures of far reaching sand dunes along the shore line in Ainsdale, recognized as one of the premier beaches in the UK.

The National Nature Reserve at Ainsdale is an area to be thoroughly explored, with glorious wild and natural beauty abounded by rare, interesting plants which spring up a riot of colour in the summer months.

There is plenty to do in Southport itself with the long pier, Lord Street and countless other attractions.

Further afield are the vibrant cities of Liverpool, Manchester and Chester and the Lakes are just over an hour away by car.

The area is renowned for its large selection of good golf courses.

Nearby is the home of the red squirrel at Formby Nature Reserve.

Ainsdale 4 miles; Ormskirk 8 miles; Formby 8.5 miles.

Southport, along with its neighbour Ainsdale, lies on the coastline where the Irish Sea meets North West England. The town was founded in 1792 when an innkeeper, William Sutton, built a bathing house at what is now the south end of Lord Street, the main road running through the town. The town was small and not very widely populated until the turn of 19th century, when it became popular with tourists due to the easy access it provided to Leeds and Liverpool Canal. It quickly expanded and now boasts the second longest pleasure pier in the British Isles, the Southport Pier Tramway and Lord Street, an elegant, tree-lined shopping destination. From Birkdale to Woodvale, sand dunes stretch along the coastline and in Ainsdale in particular, the dunes have now been listed as a National Nature Reserve and a designated Ramsar site. The coastline stretches for 22 miles, with plenty of beaches to be discovered, making this classic seaside resort the perfect place to relax and unwind. Stroll down the UK’s oldest iron pier and try the old penny slot machines in the Pavilion, or ride traditional carousels at Silcock’s Funland. Family attractions include Splash World, Martin Mere and Farmer Ted’s, while The Atkinson, an £18 million arts venue, is set in a Grade II listed building hosting a variety of visual and performing arts events. Southport’s extensive events programme includes the World Musical Fireworks Championships, the Southport Food and Drink Festival, Southport Air Show, Southport Flower Show and the Southport Jazz Festival. It is part of England’s Golf Coast and is home to seven championship courses, including Royal Birkdale, which hosted The Open Championship in 2008.
