"We had a lovely stay at Barn Owl."
The accomodation was beautiful presented, well equipped, clean and set in gorgeous countryside. The small outdoor seating faces east so would have been lovely for breakfast if the weather had been better. The couple we shared with did mention the downstairs bedroom lacked a bit of privacy as it was opposite and near the stables. On a personal viewpoint we found the pillows to be uncomfortable but others may disagree. However overall we would highly recommend the cottage and would stay again if in the area.
"Best UK holiday we've had ."
Complete relaxation. Very helpful owners
"Lots of space for 4 adults."
Very friendly owners of this working farm.would be heaven for anyone interested in horses or fishing. Plenty to do in immediate area including an excellent collection of independent traders within walking distance. Access to Liverpool via a very rural train service from station within 2 miles. The local folk we met were all extremely friendly. A part of the country that is well worth a visit.
"Everything you need is there, lovely warm and comfortable cottage, lovely comfortable beds in ideal location for scouting around."
It is on a working farm so be prepared to be woken by the sound of horses going out on their trek. On the doorstep are two interesting shops. Would recommend the cottage to anyone, there are also two other cottages on the site which look equally gorgeous.
"We had a wonderful break at Barn Owl Cottage."
Set in a rural location but with good links to all attractions in the area. The cottage has everything you need, it’s well equipped, beautifully furnished and provides a comfortable stay and exceptional value for money. Lovely seeing the horses go back and forth to their stables each day. Can also highly recommend the local pub for amazing evening meals. Will definitely return if in the area and it’s available.
"We had a lovely relaxing time in a Lovely Location, the cottage was warm and welcoming and lovely walks around the ponds, it was lovely to see the Horses and of course the visits from Percy the Border Terrier."
"Really enjoyed our stay at Barn Owl Cottage."
Owners are very friendly and helpful. Very comfortable cottage with all the facilities we needed. Complimentary eggs, ground coffee and biscuits were a real treat. Pub and farm shop within a 5 minute walk. Farm shop has a great range of local produce, beers and wines. There is also butchers located within the shop. Had a great meal at the pub - I would recommend booking as it is popular. Great wi-fi and off road parking directly outside the cottage. For those who enjoy fishing, there are 3 ponds on site that you can fish for free. Lovely countryside surrounding the cottage with lots to do and see in the area. Note: the cottage is located on a working farm.
"Lovely cottage spotlessly clean very comfortable 2 good size bedrooms with own bathrooms, owner next door if needed, fishing on site, pub and shop 5 mins walk away, and in gorgeous countryside."

The owners were extremely helpful and friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. The cottage was also very comfortable - the beds in particular !! If I'm ever in the area again, I would definitely book this cottage again Thank you again, Cliff and Claire, for a very memorable stay !
"Has it was our first time booking with sykes cottages, we found Barn owl cottage to be big and very spacious and not cramped, with lots of room to move about."
Cliff andClair were very nice and helpful.and we hope that we will retrun.
"Booked this weekend away for my husband's 50th Birthday."
Absolutely beautiful cottage, situated in lovely surroundings. The cottage was spotless and little added touches like the box of cookies and complimentary eggs from the chicken were wonderful! The owners, Cliff and Claire, were so welcoming and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. Even when we found our car wouldn't start in the morning - Cliff dutifully brought out his tractor and helped us on our way. Would definitely recommend staying here and would love to stay again ourselves in the not too distant future. Joanna, Southport.
"Great pub and farm shop a few minutes walk down the road."
"This is a delightful property which mum and I both found extremely comfortable."
Accommodation was simple and tasteful with country tastes and extremely well equipped. The grounds of the farm are open to guests which adds to the interest and charm. Proprietors are very attentive but never intrusive. Location is excellent for coastal visits and country arts, crafts and food farms.
"We have used Sykes before and had absolutely no problems so we knew we were in safe hands again this time too."
The cottage we stayed in this time was fantastic and we had a wonderful holiday.
"Lovely comfortable stay with quality finish."
A good base to explore the countryside. We really enjoyed our holiday.
"This was a lovely cottage, really well furbished and comfortable."
There is plenty around to do if you feel like being active, lovely walks and pubs, an extremely well stocked local farm shop with a butchers. One thing I would say is that this is a working farm so there is some noise, didn't bother us much but it starts pretty early so if you like a lie in take some earplugs :)
"The picture did not do the property justice."
Great pub just down the road for food and drinks.
