  • "Lovely cottage, great views, spotlessly clean and fresh."

It was extremely well equipped, with everything we could possibly need. We were a bit surprised at how close it was to High Beck House, but we were not disturbed at all.

  • "Lovely cottage, ideal location to explore the lakes."

Comfortable facilities throughout the cottage, easy to locate, local pubs including the Brown Horse, Black Labrador as well as Base pizza in Bowness were little jems.

  • "Although the description says in 3 acres of grounds, I feel it should mention the grounds are very steep ."

Also for taking dogs it should mention that the stairs are also wooden which could be difficult for dogs to go up and down.

  • "Lovely cottage with stunning views across the valley."

Disappointed with the state of the windows, black mould which had obviously been building up for months. Problems with heating & shower had been reported before but not yet resolved although in hand. However we still enjoyed our stay & would recommend it to others.

Thank you for taking the time to feedback after your recent stay at Highbeck Cottage. We are thrilled to hear you had a great week. The mould on the window frames has now been resolved and we are sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused. The shower has also been fixed and shouldn' be affecting any future guests either. We hope we can welcome you back in the future. Property Owner

  • "Disappointing stay at Highbeck Cottage."

We were 4 adults staying away and therefore having 2 bathrooms was part of our search criteria. When we arrived we discovered that the shower in the main bathroom was broken causing all 4 adults to use the ensuite for our entire stay. I reported the issue whilst we were there but it was not fixed. The ensuite we were all forced to use was covered in mould and the shower chain was black with grime. The windows in the main bathroom were also broken and did not open, along with the windows in the dining room. I complained about the service we received and was initially told there's nothing they could do as we didn't report the issues whilst we were still there, to which I corrected them that I had indeed raised the issues during our stay. They then came back with further excuses and nonsense and have refused to give any money back for all of the issues we encountered. Needless to say we will not be returning to Highbeck cottage, nor will we be using Sykes cottages again who have handled the complaint awfully.

Thank you for taking the time to feedback after your recent stay at Highbeck Cottage. We are sorry to hear you had a less than enjoyable stay. We apologise for the failure with the shower and we understand this is less than ideal. For reference the shower has since been resolved and shouldn't be affecting any future guests either. We are sorry about the build up on the windows, again since your comments these have been deep cleaned and ensured they are kept on top of. We are sorry to hear you found the service poor as we strive high in ensuring our guests are satisfied and are delivered a great service so we apologise we fell short on this occasion. Kind regards, Property Owner

  • "The range and quality of implements in the kitchen failed to live up to expectation."

Guest could benefit from a wider range and more relevant equipment

  • "We were without an oven and grill for the whole week."

It didn’t work on our arrival and wasn’t replaced until the last day. An apology was we had. We understand these things happen but nothing was done to resolve the problem which affected what we had planned. Also the cooking utensils, pots and pans were limited in number and needed cleaning before use.

  • "Absolutely brilliant stay!"

We didn’t know we would have neighbors on the property, however they were so lovely with some very kind dogs that gave our dog some company when in the garden. Some dust, cobwebs and hairs to be found, but generally clean. Such a beautiful property and house - would absolutely recommend and definitely would love to come back! The cooking knives and some equipment need replacing as we ate in most meals, and perhaps the pillows were not the comfiest but that’s being a bit picky perhaps. One main thing is that the locks on all doors expect the back doors were very difficult to lock, with very loose door handles - so we ended up only using the back door. Need fixing. The garden is stunning, perfect location and easy access to all nearby town. Very quiet area with only the sounds of nature. Definitely exceeded expectations!
