The quiet village of Blencarn is situated in Cumbria, between the North Pennines AONB and the Lake District National Park. Its name means ‘summit crag’, given for the presence of Cross Fell that looms over the village. Experienced hikers can enjoy wonderful views from its peak, of the surrounding region, and there are an abundance of circular walks for all abilities also in close proximity. As well as walking and cycling, Blencarn also has its own lake stocked with Rainbow Trout making it a great base for fly-fishing. The nearest pub is three miles away in the neighbouring village of Culgaith, whilst the bustling town of Penrith has a whole host of amenities just 10 miles away. Enjoy more fishing in the River Eden, as well as riverside walks, canoeing, cycling and climbing opportunities. Six miles away is the third largest stone circle in England, Long Meg and Her Daughters, an excellent afternoon out. A wonderful location for a holiday exploring Cumbria and the Lake District!
