  • "Property was exactly as described."

Spotlessly clean, very well equipped, comfortable and welcoming. The welcome treats were very thoughtful (and tasty) and included home baked cake and a lovely cut flower display which looked like it had come from the owners garden. Even the dog was not forgotten. It says dog friendly and the cottage certainly was, he was made to feel very welcome! Gosforth is an ideal location to holiday with 2 pubs within 5 minutes providing good food, nice Italian restaurant and a bakery. Perfect for coast and country. I would have no hesitation in recommending this property.

Garden perfect for our dog, secluded and south facing. Would have liked some comfortable deck chairs instead of wooden ones but this is a minor thing. The owner made you feel welcome and Barbara the housekeeper also very accommodating, bringing us scones mid week when she cut the grass. Area is a bit far from the main attractions of the lakes so for that reason only we wouldn’t stay again. But an all round fantastic fortnights stay

Local pub opposite is a must, their pies are delicious and the Italian was also fabulous! 20mins from main supermarkets Great Central location to walks around lake district. Lovely welcome gifts for humans and pooch- this was a great added bonus and very much appreciated! The following feedback wouldn't stop us returning but wanted to be honest- Shower could be better, not powerful at all- not ideal if out walking all day and want to shower/ warm up- faff to wash longer hair. Kitchen floor tiles cracked Hoover lead very short. Some decor here and there could do with tlc Noisy from passing traffic if bedroom window open - unfortunately we stayed on a week where tractors were passing continuously throughout the night. Putting these fews things aside, All in all we had a wonderful stay and the location was fab!

Close to Wastwater and Scafell or if you like the coast Drigg and Seascale are close by . The village itself has a country store 3 pubs an Italian restaurant craft bakery and a cafe , Can thoroughly recommend the Gosforth Hall Inn and Wild Olive restaurant for eating out . As dog owners we were so impressed with all the little touches to make our doggy’s stay most comfortable, the lovely home baked human treats were also very well received along with the other groceries that were left for us-very kind and thoughtful. Loved the area as you have the best of both worlds, with the country and the coast and don’t have to travel far for some lovely walks. The village has everything you need and the locals were friendly and welcoming, the Kellbank fit us in for food at short notice (with dogs) and we had a lovely meal. The village bakery was closed as was the Wild Olive for New Year but both looked very good and worth a visit. The cottage has everything you need for a very comfortable stay, the drying room came in very handy with the wet weather. Like other guests I cannot finish without mentioning the beds, so comfortable for a great nights sleep. Thank you.

The wood burning fire had a basket of cut wood ready. The cottage was immaculately presented and ready for a holiday on opening the door. The building itself is perfect for a couple or small family. We, 3 adults and a large, well-behaved dog felt very comfortable throughout our stay. The living room and dining area downstairs was large and well lit with comfy sofas and a nice size TV. Bedrooms were good sized with plenty of clothes storage and nice comfy beds. The kitchen had all that you’d expect with all facilities easy to use. There were none of the frequent, restrictive not-so-dog-friendly rules about which parts of the property dogs are not welcome. All in all we had a lovely stay and can only praise the owners for a very welcoming and relaxing visit. Highly recommended.

Milk in the fridge on arrival (thankyou!) and other essentials in the kitchen. The location is wonderful, Wastwater is our favourite lake so it was perfect for visiting and for Eskdale. The village was fab with food from the bakery (great pies and eclairs!) and Wild Olive Pizzas for a takeaway on a rainy night. Great local shop also. Cannot recommend enough, also the beds are AMAZING! So comfy. A big drying room which came in so useful for all dirty/wet clothes that the Lakes inevitably delivered.
