  • "Absolutely loved our stay at 5 Laurel Mount."

The house was exactly as described and the beds were insanely comfortable! Also one of the best welcome packs we've received at a holiday cottage. It's clear the owners have gone above and beyond to make their guests feel comfortable and at home. I just wished we could have stayed longer! The only downside for me was the lack of mirrors in the bedrooms / near plug points which made blow drying hair a bit of a challenge. I hope we get an opportunity to return to this gorgeous house.

  • "We loved the house, it was very clean and comfortable."

The standard of furnishing was very good, kitchen was well equipped, the beds were comfy etc. Very spacious inside. Loads of parking and great location. It does need a blind in the bathroom. It needs bins. We had to contact about a wasp invasion which hopefully has been sorted, it was quite funny and is a tale to tell. Close to Appleby and Penrith. Lovely pub nearby called The White Horse which had great food.

Thanks for the feedback, apologies about the wasp issue which is sorted now. Glad to hear you had good time and hopefully welcome you back soon! Property Owner

  • "The property is excellently kept, with most items in pristine condition and fully functional."

It has been carefully designed to cater to the needs of families with children of various ages, offering a range of entertainment options such as board games, a multi-sport table, and a diverse collection of both fiction and non-fiction books. We were never at a loss for activities during the evenings after our days of exploring the beautiful Lake District. Additionally, the property boasts TVs in the kitchen/dining area, living room, and the main bedroom, allowing you to easily catch up on your favourite shows or movies via Netflix or any streaming service of your preference.

  • "This is a beautiful, immaculately presented property and the attention to detail in the design and facilities available are second to none."

As its all on one level this made it easy for a family member to get away even with mobility issues. Set in a tranquil location in a small village. The food at the local pub, 2 minutes walk away, was delicious and the staff extremely welcoming. The only suggestion we have is for a blind to be put up in one of the bathrooms. Would highly recommend this property!

Thanks Sarah, for your kind feedback. Will look into your suggestions and hope to welcome you back some time in the future! Property Owner

  • "Very clean and spacious."

Checkin time of 5pm too late. Knives not great as weird shape and don't spread butter very well. Not impressed with journey instructions as we were given the incorrect postcode which resulted in us having to ring the housekeeper for help. The postcode given took us miles out of our way and used half a tank of petrol and wasted time. We had our 89 year mother in the car who has dementia and was getting stressed with the longer journey. This needs to be addressed please. Accomodation very nice, and of a good standard, expensive for two nights though.

Thanks for taking the time to leave us your kind feedback. With regards to address instructions, the details provided are indeed correct, however appreciate this is a new built site and some satnav may not have recorded these yet. Please do reach out if you have any issues in the future. Your feedback is important and we will make sure to address your points going forward. We hope you had a pleasant stay and looking forward to welcoming you back in the future. Property Owner

About the location

KIRKBY THORE

Appleby-in-Westmorland 5 miles; Penrith 9 miles.

The small Cumbrian village of Kirkby Thore is situated within easy driving distance of both Appleby-in-Westmorland and Penrith, due to it being close to the A66. Kirkby Thore sits on the site of a Roman cavalry camp, with amongst other items, Roman coins, sandals and urns having been found in the area. Today, the village offers a church, a shop with Post Office, a bistro/pub and a petrol station. The historic town of Appleby-in-Westmorland is located in the loop of the River Eden, in the heart of the Eden Valley. Appleby is a major stop on the Settle-Carlisle Railway and every June the town plays host to a three hundred-year old Horse Fair. Also within reach is the bustling market town of Penrith, which was once the capital of Cumbria. The town offers a number of specialist shops, sandstone buildings, attractive cottages and gardens, along with a wide choice of pubs and restaurants. With wonderful Ullswater, the Lake District National Park and even the Yorkshire Dales National Park to visit, Kirkby Thore makes a convenient base for exploring the area.
