And there’s a family shower room with a WC and a hand basin. On the first floor, you’ll find the master double bedroom, with another king-sized bed, and an en-suite bathroom, with a stunning slipper bath.

A triple bedroom has 3 single beds and there’s a gallery twin bedroom, any of which would be perfect for the kids. There’s a shared garden with garden furniture for the opportunity to eat outside, or enjoy a glass of wine while you watch the sunset. Boot village has 2 lovely and friendly pubs, which serve incredible local foods and ales.

In the summer, there’s a village shop, and there’s plenty to explore in the village with the 17th Century Packhorse bridge and the oldest working mill in England, Boot Mill. Scafell Pike and a variety of woodland, river and meadow walks are close by, and a short drive will take you to the Solway coast beaches and Wastwater – winner of Britain’s Best View. The Eskdale Valley is a quiet spot, right in the heart of the Lake District National Park.

There’s so much to explore, with the sandy beaches of the Solway coast, and Langdale and Grasmere an easy drive.

Travel on the Ravenglass and Eskdale Steam Railway, for wonderful scenery and a variety of station stops to explore, culminating in a visit to Ravenglass fishing village.

About the location

ESKDALE VALLEY

Eskdale is one of the most beautiful valleys in the Lake District, often referred to by the locals as ‘True Lake District’. Situated in the quieter side of the National Park, it has a peaceful tranquillity that makes it especially appealing to those who want to avoid the crowds. The nearby village of Eskdale Green consists of a scattering of cottages, some farm dwellings and a number of outstanding traditional English pubs serving real ales and good food. An area relatively unknown to many Lakeland visitors, this great location boasts a skyline dominated by the towering peaks of Scafell - England's highest peak, as well as Great Gable, Hard Knott, Harter Fell and Muncaster Fell, whilst the nearby stunning valleys of Eskdale, Wasdale, Ennerdale and Dunnerdale provide breathtaking and ever-changing scenery to be enjoyed throughout the year. The valley is notable as being one of few major valleys in the Lake District not to have its own lake, although several tarns are perched above the valley sides. Local attractions include Muncaster Castle, the World Owl Centre and the Ravenglass to Eskdale miniature railway, one of the most beautiful train journeys imaginable. With both beautiful Wastwater - the deepest lake in the country and St Olaf's - the smallest church, amongst the many well known landmarks in this awe inspiring and beautiful area.
