It is clean, very well equipped and maintained, and with the added bonus of a garden of delights— red squirrels, a range of colourful birds and dramatic views in every direction. We have already booked to come again in the spring. Thanks to the owners. PS- A tiny request for more than 2 small loo rolls to be provided as they were difficult to source locally!

Really impressed! A gorgeous cottage in a fantastic location. Beautiful views from every window and the added bonus of having a red squirrel visit the garden every day, as well as the lovely little birds. Lots of lovely walks closeby and a nice cafe down the road serving food, drinks and snacks. We would definitely recommend this cottage and hope to return in the near future! Thank You!

There are great views from the cottage of the surrounding mountains, sheep in the field at the bottom of the garden and it’s great for watching Red Squirrels lots of blue tits woodpeckers Sparrows and goldfinches in the garden too. The weather was mixed but we still walked from the cottage around Derwent water. The Cottage is cosy and well equipped with everything you need for a brilliant holiday. We will be going again next year.

  • "We had a really lovely stay in Rock Cottage earlier this month."

It's in a beautiful setting with glorious views of the fells from every window. We even had a red squirrel visit a few times! We've stayed in many holiday cottages over the years and this is one of the nicest. We always say that the most important things are a comfortable sofa and bed and a good shower - and Rock Cottage has all three. Parking is very good and the garden a lovely place to sit and relax. Only one minor negative: the wifi doesn't reach the master bedroom very well, but a booster would easily solve this. The kitchen was well-equipped with plenty of storage/fridge space. We would definitely return again so thank you to the owners.

  • "Property was described well, it was clean and had everything needed for a week away."

What was not acceptable was the bedroom curtains without blackout lining. The daylight streamed through the curtains from 5am; not what you want on holiday. The exit time of 9am on the last day was unnecessary and unachievable which meant we left a day early. The picnic bench in the front garden is unsafe. the wood has shrunk which has revealed raised screw heads which ripped a cut in the back of my heel putting an early end to the hiking I was enjoying.

  • "We had a wonderful time at Rock Cottage and will certainly aim to book again in the future."

The cottage itself was ideal for us and Grange is a great location to relax in and get quickly into the fells for hiking. Had the added bonus of watching a red squirrel in the garden every morning. There's a good cafe in the village too. We only have one very minor comment, which didn't affected our stay. Would it be possible when staying out of season to have more wood and some kindling. We only use wood for our own fire so would prefer not to use the coals. A lovely place and we'd certainly recommend it.

  • "Delightfully comfy, warm and welcoming property."

We really enjoyed our stay. Spotlessly clean on arrival, we found it very well furnished and equipped with everything we needed. The stove was most welcome for the evenings, with the Christmas tree twinkling. Situated in a lovely quiet position in the village, with outstanding views from all sides of the stunning local fells, with plenty of walks straight out of the gate. The shower and bathroom is very good, beds comfy and bedding / towels of very good quality. We would definitely return to rock cottage.

Thank you for your kind feedback. I am pleased that you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

  • "Great holiday home, my wife and I spent a week with our 3-year-old and the house had everything we needed."

It was very wet and windy but the fireplace was great (and there was a basket of wood provided and even an axe in the little shed outside). The area was great lots of walks straight from the house, and nice areas along the river (walk down next to the cafe towards the campsite and lots of forests and rivers for the kids to play in). And the WiFi at the house was really good, made for a good movie night next to the fire. The only downside was the shower was extremely tricky to keep warm, there was hot water in the taps that would burn you, however, the shower while starting hot got lukewarm quickly no matter the pressure or settings. But we were able to shower which was fine.

Sadly the weather was wet and windy, but then you expect that going away in October, so the log/multi-fuel burner would have been an ideal comfort. It seemed strange to me to advertise the log/multi-fuel burner and not provide even one basket of logs. Cottage itself was well equipped and very clean and the views were out of this world.

The only thing I would point out to anyone with issues with steps is - there are a couple of steps up to the front door and one down from the back door - we had our own mini ramp with us. There is a grip at the front door to hold however. It was lovely and clean and very well equipped in the kitchen. I appreciated the dishwasher and washer dryer. Great shower.

  • "The cottage was great, lovely and clean, in a beautiful situation."

Our only complaint was with the kitchen knives, it was a real struggle even to cut an onion, in self catering you hope to prepare your own food. A couple of comments: we couldn't find pegs for the washing line and the sign to Grange is very small and partly obscured by foliage. We were about 3 miles beyond Grange before we found a local resident who told us it was 3 miles back. Even 1.1 miles beyond Lodore Falls Hotel would be helpful in the directions. It is a busy, twisty road from Keswick to Grange.

I was disappointed to read your comment about the knives as new knives were purchased in December last year. I will make sure they are sharpened and leave a sharpener at the cottage. The pegs are usually kept on the top shelf of the cleaning cupboard. Otherwise I hope you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner
