  • "Lovely cottage right in the heart of Bowness."

Location is great for accessing shops, pubs, restaurants, the lake & walks. The window in the front bedroom would not close, I saw comments about this from a few months ago & thought this would have been addressed, the rooms was very cold due to this & the radiator was turned off. Our allocated packing space was occupied so had to use the one for the other cottage. Also noisy on a night when you are trying to sleep. Rooms were clean other than the kitchen (the oven needs a deep clean & the floor), downstairs toilet was thick dust! Comfortable seating & beds. Beautiful main shower room, although I think the radiator needed bleeding as on the bottom half was hot. Most of the blinds only pull up & down, no tool to close for privacy. Would have been nice to have a welcome pack with instructions of how to work the heating etc. Overall we enjoyed our stay and exploring the area again.

Same in the very small bunk room. Bunk bed needs some attention. Handles falling off of cupboards. Guess work required for correct oven settings. Some of the pots and pans etc have seem much better days. The plug in the bathroom sink does not work. Light bulbs needing replaced. All these issues could easily be rectified. Where are the bins for rubbish and recycling? Good location though, but parking is not ideal

Could use a little more power behind the shower as it trickled out, but we survived. Really a minor detail. One note for yourselves to reconsider on your advert. You advertise that there is only space for a small car to park. We however arrived in a ford transit van and it fitted perfectly with lots of room for others to drive past and park their large car behind in the Aaron cottage. Don’t sell it short it was perfect. The position of the property idealistic, cosy, comfortable and when you’re in you can’t hear anything from outside. The hustle and bustle of Bowness is kept away unless you open doors and windows and invite it in. I will be using your property again. We unfortunately had to leave a little rubbish in the kitchen. We couldn’t find our outside bin so used an alternative one for smelly food rubbish but didn’t want to fill it up.

  • "I liked the location and the property."

Thought it was odd that there was no information booklet with information about things like bin collection day and where to put the bin etc.The smoke alarm is linked to the flat below so when they were cooking bacon it set all the smoke alarms off in the house,so,twice we looked around the house for the cause as the noise was deafening before I realised and asked the people in the flat.Would I stay there again?Yes.It had Internet, just be careful parking as you could easily scratch your car on the wall(the gaps big enough for a big car but there is a part of the wall where you can see people have hit it as its like a block that's lower than the fence wall). The location is great,so close to the lake, shops and bars.No trouble sleeping as its in a quiet spot even though all the amenities are really close by.We would do a short walk with the dog to the waterfront every night(it only does its business on grass and there are lots of bins for the bags).I would recommend this place,if you have small children just be careful when you go out as doors on very quiet road and the staircase is open plan.I have no complaints, just wish there was an information book as I said earlier.

  • "Thank you for a very comfortable stay."

Beds were comfortable, location was great and the details like the new shower, netflix, WiFi, downstairs toilet and hairdryer were a nice surprise. A few amendments could make the experience a little better: - A welcome pack explaining who to call if there was an issue, the system with bins / recycling, recommendations of things to do, wifi password etc. - The key doesn't come out of the front door if it isn't engaged correctly. We thought it was broken and had to call someone out. Maybe some instructions in the welcome pack to explain would help. - The front room was very dark as 3 bulbs had gone on the wall lights. A free standing lamp or more regular checking of the bulbs would help. - The upstairs front window is split and will not open or close. I let skye cottages know about this, but looks like a new window frame will be needed. - An update to the listing would be good (it wasn't clear thar there is no outdoor space & it missed some of the great improvements like the new bathroom) - Dustpan and brush. Overall a lovely stay, thank you for the time and care you have taken into making this such a nice home for us during our stay.

No welcome pack from the owners to show how to use the cooker, central heating,TV or gas hob.The TV remote was hidden down the side of the settee. The gas hob indicators were worn and the electronic starter was faulty. You had to use matches to light the hob but you didn’t know which burner was on as the markings were worn away. The same problem with the oven ,all markings were worn away on the dials so it was trial and error to set up any cooking. All pots ,pans and utensils were awful, worn ,cheap and the cupboards were bare.No coasters to put your wine glass on or tea cup.No salt, pepper or dish cloths ,decent cleaning materials, or proper tea towels. Cobwebs in the bathroom. It was like a students shared kitchen at university. No back door fire exit or access to the yard. The living room was very dark very Poor lighting. The upstairs was better ,beds comfortable and clean. There was a bees nest infestation in the main bedroom loft, which ruined the first nights sleep

.. however... it does feel like it's getting in need of a bit of tlc. The photos on the advertisement are obviously when everything was new and fresh, alas the sofas are now ripped and it's looking a it shabby round the edges. There was a hint of mustiness in the bedrooms and the en suite bathroom paint is flaking off. That said ... it was still a pleasant stay.

It’s surrounded by all you need as far as shops to get food, every kind of restaurant you could think of, coffee shops and the lake is literally 5mins away. Overall the property is great, really good sized rooms and comfy beds, living/dining room is cosy and gives a lovely cottage feel. Has all you need and a real home from home feel, travelling with a 1 year old it was super handy there was a Highchair. Having the free parking was great and as it’s through a gate so felt secure. Our only downsides were the WiFi didn’t work, didn’t make a huge difference, and the sofa cushions were all torn so just looked rundown. That said I’d defiantly recommend and return without hesitation.

The lady placed and contacted I think the owners to ask came back with yes there's going to b a tree and decorations there was nothing. Cottage was surface cleaned we had to clean oven because when we switched it on it set smoke alarms off once cleaned the oven it was fine. Tv and WiFi was shocking. The only down side is there is no outdoor space to let a dog out despite stating it is pet friendly. The car park space was too small for our car and so we had to park elsewhere. The property itself has more facilities then it lists - it has a downstairs toilet. The kitchen has all the mod cons including a tumble dryer which was not listed. There was also a hairdryer in the front bedroom. The property was lovely and clean but due to the the age of the property would benefit with a bit of TLC. Paint work; fan over cooker requires repairing; lamps both side of the bed in the main bedroom. No instruction as to where the bins were for the property. However due to the location and the cleanliness of this property we would not hesitate booking here again.

  • "Well appointed cottage."

Very clean and comfortable and plenty warm enough for us. Just a few points need attention though. I found the bed in the rear bedroom very uncomfortable due to being able to feel the springs. I expected it to be an old mattress but appears pretty new so must just be very cheap. Anyway this would stop me returning as getting a good night's sleep is a top priority for me when selecting a property. The hot tap in the en-suite needs attention as you had to hold the body of the tap when turning off or it all spun. Needs a decent grip so impossible with wet hands so had to dry them before shutting the tap off. Also, the extractor fan doesn't work which has been remarked on in earlier reviews so should have been fixed by now. Another, very small point was there was only 5 forks for a 6 person property. Shame about the mattress as it's the only thing that would stop me returning. As others have mentioned it can be noisy but it's a town centre property so noise is to be expected. Otherwise a lovely property which gave us all we needed.

It’s a lovely place for families with lots of things to do and places to eat. Other people have mentioned that the listing is dog friendly but without a garden, this really is something to consider as you do have to take your dog off round the block for a wee. A few other niggles were that there is no hairdryer, absolutely no basics in the cupboards like salt and pepper or hand soap in the en-suite - I know this is small but it’s the sort of things you don’t expect to have to think about when you stay somewhere for a few days, the microwave is on its way out and that was annoying, it could do with a deep clean - I just think the owners could do with spending a little bit of money on it to combat some wear and tear and ageing. But like I said, in terms of location and size and price, we had a nice break here.

  • "We really enjoyed staying here."

The location was perfect for exploring the lakes as well as plenty of places to eat and drink locally which meant we didn’t need to use the car for most of our stay and even though it is in a central location just off the busiest road we didn’t feel like it. The cottage was lovely and clean and finished to a high standard. The only things I would mention are that the parking is very tight and took a couple of attempts the first time round although after that initial attempt was much easier. Also that even though the cottage is pet friendly there is no where to let your dog out to do it’s business so you need to be prepared to take your dogs out on the lead.

A few details needed attention - the wooden door to the Integrated washing machine was hanging on one bracket (this was removed after a call to the office), the en-suite shower rail came away from the wall (this was repaired the same day) and general cleaning was a bit lacking (bedside table lamp bases very dusty and oven door a bit grimy). All issues reported were dealt with quickly - but really should have been seen to before we arrived. On the whole, a good house with comfy beds and enough facilities for a weeks stay.
