  • ""Parking" is ludicrous at this property."

Small spray painted rectangle not adequate for even our medium sized car but also curved fence to negotiate at the same time. Very experienced drivers but managed to mark the car and will now pay over £300.00 to get fixed. Also without heating for 3 days. Not even an apology from the owner.

  • "Only issue we had was taps on sink in ensuite were e tremely hard to turn off, water became very very hot."

Extractor fan in kitchen was inadequate as when we opened oven door it set off alarm. One comment, not a criticism, but it would have been nice to have been able to have the lanterns and candles on to give a warmer feel to the sitting room. We will definitely book again as location and parking were a bonus.

  • "The location of this property is amazing and everything you need is within walking distance."

The only down side is there is no outdoor space to let a dog out despite stating it is pet friendly. The car park space was too small for our car and so we had to park elsewhere. The property itself has more facilities then it lists - it has a downstairs toilet. The kitchen has all the mod cons including a tumble dryer which was not listed. There was also a hairdryer in the front bedroom. The property was lovely and clean but due to the the age of the property would benefit with a bit of TLC. Paint work; fan over cooker requires repairing; lamps both side of the bed in the main bedroom. No instruction as to where the bins were for the property. However due to the location and the cleanliness of this property we would not hesitate booking here again.

  • "Perfect from start to end a home from home."

Central location, everything just a short walk away, parking at the side. The house has all you need lots of space, very clean and comfortable, full kitchen including washing machine and drier. Great Wi-Fi for the whole family to use and a perfect retreat and a wonderful way to bring in the new year. Sykes couldn’t do enough advising of a broken light switch before we got there and repaired before we had unpacked the car. Already looking at dates to go back again.

  • "Well appointed cottage."

Very clean and comfortable and plenty warm enough for us. Just a few points need attention though. I found the bed in the rear bedroom very uncomfortable due to being able to feel the springs. I expected it to be an old mattress but appears pretty new so must just be very cheap. Anyway this would stop me returning as getting a good night's sleep is a top priority for me when selecting a property. The hot tap in the en-suite needs attention as you had to hold the body of the tap when turning off or it all spun. Needs a decent grip so impossible with wet hands so had to dry them before shutting the tap off. Also, the extractor fan doesn't work which has been remarked on in earlier reviews so should have been fixed by now. Another, very small point was there was only 5 forks for a 6 person property. Shame about the mattress as it's the only thing that would stop me returning. As others have mentioned it can be noisy but it's a town centre property so noise is to be expected. Otherwise a lovely property which gave us all we needed.

  • "The accommodation was basic but the location was excellent."

There were problems with the dishwasher and the heating which I alerted you about but we heard nothing back. The property was not well cleaned and we had to clean parts before using it (like the table). A frying pan was also left dirty in the drawer which had to be washed before using.

  • "We really enjoyed staying here."

The location was perfect for exploring the lakes as well as plenty of places to eat and drink locally which meant we didn’t need to use the car for most of our stay and even though it is in a central location just off the busiest road we didn’t feel like it. The cottage was lovely and clean and finished to a high standard. The only things I would mention are that the parking is very tight and took a couple of attempts the first time round although after that initial attempt was much easier. Also that even though the cottage is pet friendly there is no where to let your dog out to do it’s business so you need to be prepared to take your dogs out on the lead.

  • "The cottage is a good size and in a good location in the town."

It’s a lovely place for families with lots of things to do and places to eat. Other people have mentioned that the listing is dog friendly but without a garden, this really is something to consider as you do have to take your dog off round the block for a wee. A few other niggles were that there is no hairdryer, absolutely no basics in the cupboards like salt and pepper or hand soap in the en-suite - I know this is small but it’s the sort of things you don’t expect to have to think about when you stay somewhere for a few days, the microwave is on its way out and that was annoying, it could do with a deep clean - I just think the owners could do with spending a little bit of money on it to combat some wear and tear and ageing. But like I said, in terms of location and size and price, we had a nice break here.

  • "The house is very well situated in the very centre of Bowness, with allotted parking."

A few details needed attention - the wooden door to the Integrated washing machine was hanging on one bracket (this was removed after a call to the office), the en-suite shower rail came away from the wall (this was repaired the same day) and general cleaning was a bit lacking (bedside table lamp bases very dusty and oven door a bit grimy). All issues reported were dealt with quickly - but really should have been seen to before we arrived. On the whole, a good house with comfy beds and enough facilities for a weeks stay.

  • "The parking at the property is an issue."

There is a designated parking place for the property and signage on the fence stating parking is only for 2 properties however 3 cars were parked on the driveway which meant that I could not take my car out because I could not get past one of the cars. This really needs looking into for the future
