  • "A fantastic luxury apartment!"

    We were a family of 4 (2 little children) staying here which meant we could enjoy everything Bowness has to offer just on our doorstep without being confined in a hotel room in the evening. We thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub and all the rooms were high spec making it a perfect stay. We’d be back in a heartbeat.

  • "The place was ideal for its central location."

    And the property had everything you needed. It was extremely clean and had quality furnishings. However, due to its central location and single glazing it was extremely noisy during most of the night. Even the cafe next door when setting up its kitchen for breakfast very early, you could hear the music they were playing. As though it was in the room next door. We also found that the cafe next door (Magic Roundabout). Was utilising their outdoor space for outdoor seating. Which unfortunately encroached onto the entrance door of our property. The first incident, cafe visitors using the door step for their dog to sit on. 2nd occasion, a pushchair on the door step and the third was a number of suitcases. All of these items including the dog, blocked our access, when opening the door to go outside. We actually ate in the cafe next door which was very good. But it was extremely annoying when the entrance door to property was being blocked by visitors to the cafe.

  • "This was a great property, well decorated and at the top end of the rental market."

    A lot of thought had gone into making this a perfect holiday retreat, equipped with everything you need. The hot tub is an added bonus with great views for watching the sun go down. It is right in the centre of town which is very convenient but does suffer with nighttime noise, you get great views of what is happening from the first floor lounge!, don’t be put off by this just take ear plugs if you think it may disturb you at night. The property does come with parking permits for the car park two minutes away, there is a loading bay literally two doors down outside the Tesco, you just need to be organised for this, which we were. I would consider this an adult only property for people who are used to a quality home, and respect other peoples property and belongings, also those knowing to take shoes/boots off before stepping onto the carpets, not your chavs on a boozy weekend away from ‘their estate’, in my view! I would definitely like to return at sometime and would recommend the property.

    Lovely apartment clean and well presented and very spacious, lounge was very large enough seating for the 6 of us, the TV was very good with smart function with Netflix and Amazon, was a few board games which was a great touch had a few games 2ith the kids, kitchen was well equipped took me a while to figure out how to work the ovens and the hob but got there in the end

  • "A lovely property with a central location."

    It was a perfect setting for a Christmas break. We particularly enjoyed the hot tub on the cold Lake District nights! All of the rooms were stylish and spacious. Very warm too. I agree, though. with previous comments about the lack of kitchen equipment (we had to buy a cafetiere and oven glove), and a Christmas tree over the festive period would have been nice (only provided were a floor latern which didn't work, and a string of tinsel over the fire place). Also, one key between 4 of us was very inconvenient. We also had some maintenance issues which really should have been checked before we arrived (reported to management company), but on the whole, a great apartment!

  • "Bank Chambers is in the heart of Bowness with Shops, Bars and Walks on the door step."

    This was the reason we chose to stay here. However this was also the reason we would not make it our first choice again. The apartment is of a very high standard with minor wear and tear. The property Window's are in need of an upgrade. We had very little sleep before 3.00am every night. The traffic is very busy day and night with surprisingly heavy traffic as well. The Albert pub and The Magic Roundabout Bar are very busy. We were a party of 3 couples and only 2 keys are provided. I requested use of the key safe to make it easier for us but this was refused as it was Housekeeping use only. One of the keys was newly cut and was very difficult to use. It took us 15 minutes to get in the property on arrival, we even thought we were in the wrong house until we tried the other key. Bownes is a beautiful place and we have stayed many times and will continue to do so.

  • "The studio apartment is lovely and has a nice ambience."

    It can appear a bit bare though and needs a few more home touches. We would also recommend that the property is photographed again as what is currently displayed on Sykes website is not reflective to how some of the rooms look now. The Welcome pack in the property was very comprehensive and informative. The Champagne was a nice touch however a welcome pack of essentials would have been appreciated instead eg. Bread, butter, eggs, milk, bacon etc as not everyone drinks alcohol. The hot tub was a real winner for the ladies and we spent several fun hours just chilling and chatting with a nice glass of fizz. The hot tub was serviced twice during our stay and we were surprised that the engineers had keys to the property. Guests need to be made aware of this and recommend placing a small safe in the property to keep valuables in. We would also recommend that you highlight the parking challenges during peak times. When we arrived on the Saturday we were struggling to park our 3 cars and had to wait some time to get a space for each of us. In addition, whilst it was suggested by Sykes that we could unload the car in a road in the next street along, collect the parking permit and then park in the main car park approx 50 yards away on Rayrigg Road, it was simply not practical due to the traffic being so busy. As a result we ended up parking in the car park first and then doing a number of trips backwards and forwards to unload everything we had bought including groceries for the week. Would therefore highlight this as could be logistically challenging for a couple with a small baby or someone with a physical disability or limitation. Would suggest that the parking permits are collected with the keys from the office for convenience rather than having to get them from the property before parking. Appliances were great but could have done with more crockery such as serving plates and dishes, larger saucepans, some baking trays as well as a few ice cube trays. We were advised yesterday that there was an issue with getting the property cleaned and ready on the day we arrived however it would have been prudent to let us know as we found there were a few cleaning and maintenance issues on arrival which we have subsequently fed back to Zoe from the Lakes offices in Windermere to follow up on. Bowness is a very popular tourist area as a result it was very noisy at night over the weekend and in the early morning when the deliveries were made to the local shops and restaurants. This did not detract from us enjoying our holiday but could be an issue with families and small children. Have noted the Sofas highlighted in other reviews as being particularly uncomfortable and low. We would agree with this. I am quite short and was either perching on the sofa edge or left with my legs dangling which was quite uncomfortable. Appreciate that cushions were removed because of COVid however one sofa had them and the other didn't so a bit confused by this. An armchair and a footstool in the lounge would also be welcome as it is a squash to get 6 adults on the sofas at once. Overall we had a great time staying in the Bank Chambers for the week. A great location for dining out with pubs and restaurants galore and a few minutes walk to the lake where you can access the ferries with ease. Finally, Bowness has a lovely vibe and we would certainly revisit in the future.

  • "The location of the property was brilliant easy access to the lake ferries and boat hire."

    Would recommend the Goat Trip bus which takes you into the National Park and other lakes. Local walks a must with waterfalls at Ambleside and Hill Top all easily accessible . Plenty of local restaurants but do book as due to staff shortages not all open everyday .

  • "The appartment being centrally located does mean it is noisy, especially at a busy time in August."

    Traffic noise, pub chucking out time, cafe owner setting up at 6am etc Appartment is smart and generally comfortable, however seating in the lounge is limited and one sofa is very low & uncomfortable. Kitchen well appointed but cooking equipment is very limited for 6 people - pans and trays far too small. Step on balcony is very narrow &may be a challenge for people with limited mobility. Parking is a challenge in high season and is not convenient.

  • "On first impression the apartment looks lovely, and as described and pictured in the photos, right in the centre of Bowness with easy access to lake, shops, cafes, restaurants etc."

    however, on further exploration the first floor traditional bedroom is not pictured, on closer examination of the photos it is what looks like was previously a 2nd sitting room, as in photos 6&8, with a partition added to accommodate a dark grey en suite shower and whb with no shelves, hooks or door. The cast iron fireplace, which is situated at the end of twin beds, means the granite hearth has to be carefully negotiated to access the cloakroom across the corridor during the night, also the wall sockets are either side of the fireplace not by the side of the twin beds ,so no bedside lights. The 2 second floor bedrooms and bathrooms are much larger and more in keeping with the character of the apartment. The nice leather sofa is no longer there in photo 21. The bath is massive looks fab but uses all of the hot water. The large lounge has 2 sofas, one so low you feel you’re sitting on the floor, the other beautiful blue velvet one too deep for your average height persons feet to reach the floor, no armchair either so bit of a squeeze for 6 adults, the lounge therefore had very little use. Dining chairs look good but appear to have a hard plank across the middle. The step down from kitchen doors to roof terrace is very narrow and high, which we all found very awkward to negotiate. Washing machine in utility room but no laundry basket, airer nor anywhere to hang washing such as towels or swimming gear inside or outside to dry. Only one door key supplied for 3 couples, the agent has more on request. The owners boathouse appears to be 30+ miles away in Wray. The hot tub was fabulous, very clean with a sun trap roof terrace. The gas bbq came in handy as no local restaurants taking bookings. They may seem like trivial points to some, however a few small alterations/additions would make the holiday experience so much more comfortable and luxurious, and easily up to a 5 star grading.

  • "Bank Chambers is lovely and its central location in Bowness is fabulous."

    However, it should be noted that unless you are only bringing a small amount of luggage, unloading/loading your vehicle outside the property can be difficult due to it being on a busy roundabout in the middle of Bowness. The car park is not far away but with buggies, babies and all the paraphernalia that goes with them, we had a tense time unloading. Furthermore, there are a set of stairs to negotiate once inside the property to the first-floor living area and a further set to the principal bedrooms. While these are not steep, they may cause some difficulty for older guests. There is no provision of stairgate(s) or a fire guard for very young children.
