  • "3 generations spent a week at this amazing property."

There was so much room in this house that we could all spread out if we wanted to or all be together in one area. It was very comfortable and well equipped. A short walk into bowness, where there was a good choice of cafes, bars and restaurants and a good base for exploring the Lakes. I would recommend trying the Spa day at Low Wood Bay Resort.

  • "This was one of the best houses we have had and we've had a fair few over the years!"

The room wasn't set up as twins when we arrived, even though sykes had been asked twice to do that. The maintenance people though were fabulous and came the next morning. Lots of room for everyone to do something different. Beautiful views from every room in the house. Back garden was great but isn't particularly safe for large dogs. We have a 3 year old lab and she jumped straight over the rear wall and ended up at the front of the property! Wasn't an issue though just kept her on her lead outside. We had ages ranging from 87 to 8 years and we all loved the area and house so much! The walk into Bowness took about 30 minutes. Bowness was lovely, likewise so was Ambleside and Windermere. So much to do all all-round the area. All in all an extremely lively winter break, thank you to the lovely owners that let this property out! We will be back very soon x

  • "This is our second time at Brackenlea and we think it is a fantastic house."

So spacious, so comfortable and in a fantastic location. We love the fact there are 4 bathrooms and 5 bedrooms spread out throughout the house. The kitchen is large and is well stocked with cutlery and crockery plus kitchen utensils and baking trays. The seating in the lounge is very comfortable. 2 dining rooms allow for flexibility. The garden is amazing, but as we have only stayed during winter we have not had the opportunity to sit outside but there is a choice of seating and it is well maintained. A wonderful place to stay and we hope to be back next year.

  • "We all absolutely loved staying in this property."

It was just Wow ! From the moment we arrived, It felt comfortable from day 1. It caters for everything you could possibly need. We stayed as a family of 7 plus our beloved dog. The house was so large we could all do our own thing then come back together as a family for meals and play games. The garden was secure for Hugo, so he was more than happy too. I booked this as a surprise for my daughters 30th, but booked before we left for next year as we did not want to leave. The walk into the village is beautiful too alongside the lake. Some days we just sat and admired the views and simply watched the wildlife in the fields opposite. It was just a perfect stay.

  • "We did have a good stay overall however it Wasnt the cleanest."

Kick boards in kitchen werent clean. Had to hoover under the sofas when we arrived. Was quite dusty everywhere. When it rained, next to the front door where it had been boarded up on the ceiling was leaking water. One of our friends stayed in one of the rooms with a 1 year old but did find damp so was a bit concered. It also did feel damp during the night once temperature dropped. Wouldnt put us off staying again but thought you should be aware of these concerns.

  • "Beautiful, well equipped house in a lovely location."

Perfect for our family holiday. Great that we could also take the dog. Would benefit from ventilation in the 2 lower bedrooms & bathroom (windows were locked & no extractor fan). There was also no toilet paper! Thank you for letting your property, we all had a great time.

Thank you for your feedback. We are delighted to read that you had a great holiday. The owner hopes to address the issue of ventilation in the bedrooms and bathroom in the coming weeks. Our cleaners should leave a toilet roll in each bathroom, please accept our apologies if this didn't happen on this occasion. We hope to welcome you back to Brackenlea in the future. Then on the Thursday the roof started to leak in the hallway and several pairs of shoes got wet. We put a bowl down to catch it then rang Sykes, someone came out and took photos but no maintenance or cleaning of the mould took place.

  • "This house has absolutely everything you could possibly need."

Everything is of a high standard , The 2 back rooms were ideal as we had small children so it was quiet for them although I agree these rooms are cooler than the rest of the house. Some houses you go to have some basic kitchen necessities like tinfoil or salt etc this house didn’t so remember to take everything you want . Tesco in Bowness not well stocked , found the coop better or a trip to Booths in Windermere. I would definitely return and use this house again

  • "The house was simply amazing."

We had a lovely time with our family, and the house and gardens really made it. I have only given 4 stars due to one side of the house being very cold as u think there was a problem with the hearing. The house would definately benefit with providing electric car charging that could be charged back to guests. Last point is the photos of the location doesn't do it justice... simply stunning.

There were enough facilities, rooms with great views, heating, hot water and a wonderful kitchen with all the equipment (may be a small frying pan was needed). It was very comfortable with lots of room to sit, eat, lounge and not forgetting the games, table tennis and pool. We spent lovely evenings chatting and completed the 1000 piece jigsaws! The xmas trees were a wonderful surprise! Once again many thanks for a lovely stay this xmas.
