  • "Would have been 5 starts but when we arrived the cottage had not been changed over."

We arrived quite late and with two little ones so panic set in. Lake lovers got it resolved in less than two hours which was fantastic. The apartment itself lovely with nice original features kitchen living area was nice a great space to have breakfast. The great thing about this apartment is the walking distance to local shops pubs and the lake. We will definitely be back.

  • "The apartment was lovely again and we could see it had been recently painted, shame that there was no welcome pack not even a bottle of milk."

The new “smart TV” had no instructions with it and we couldn’t get any channels, so we had to call maintenance out to try to sort it and she wasn’t very sure about it, so we ended up with no free view channels to watch over Christmas. Loved the underfloor heating in the hallway!

  • "Absolutely gorgeous place in a great location."

Super apartment that was just perfect fir our family and with decor that was just up our street! Would be an idea ti have the TV attached to Netflix etc so that more channels and programs can be accessed after a busy day when we needed a chill. We were fine though as we brought board games to play. Thanks again, we will be returning! Xx

  • "The property is excellent, ideal in many ways."

Only niggles were, the skirts could do with a wipe down, the entrance could do with a tidy up, the keybox is too fiddly took forever to get into it and finally, it could do with a smart TV.

So cosy, quirky and clean. The property owners are so lucky to have this gorgeous place in the heart of Bowness. The kids loved it too and we can’t wait to come back. Memories were made that will last forever, thank you x

  • "Curlew is a basement flat with very little natural light."

The owners have made the very best of this with thoughtful lighting and bright decor. The main bed is extremely comfortable and the living area is spacious. The bathroom is tasteful but the light turns on automatically when the door is opened, which is great in the day but not pleasant in the middle of the night! We felt that there was a lack of generosity in relation to the absence of soap and minimal supply of toilet paper [only one roll for each toilet]. We bought some liquid soap, which we left for the next occupants so hopefully this hasn't been removed. The kitchen equipment was basic but we really appreciated the milk frother! A recycling bin would have been a useful addition. There is only one full-length mirror, which is in the kitchen/living room, plus an inaccessible small mirror in the main bedroom. This is something that previous occupants had drawn attention to in the guest book. A large mirror in both bedrooms would be a great addition. The kitchen blind was broken when we arrived, which wasn't a problem as we didn't want to close it, but it is something that needs to be fixed for the next occupants.

  • "Parking for this apartment is a bit vague, on the listing and on arrival at the property ."

There is a designated space but this is suitable only for a small car so bearing in mind that this is a 2 bedroom apartment the parking is inadequate. The other 2 bedroom apartment ( Peregrine ) has 2 spaces which we have used 6 months previous but Curlew is a bit awkward especially if you have a larger car. The apartment is beautiful and very cosy in December when we were there, very well equipped and spotless. The heating controls however were blank and we had no control of temperature, having to open windows sometimes to cool down ! Only other issue which had been commented on by many in the visitors book was the Smart TV which isn’t. The tv is a high quality item but is simply outdated, an upgrade to a more flexible modern one wouldn’t be very expensive and would be more in keeping with the high spec of these apartments. My comments are intended to helpful and constructive, we have now stayed in 3 of the 4 apartments and intend to again. Regards, Robert and Jeanette Gilmour.

Dear Robert, Thank you for reviewing your recent stay at Curlew. I am delighted to hear your a regular at the Stonecliffe Apartment. As you rightly say, the parking is for one vehicle at the apartment due to it's central location, in walking distance to a variety of restaurants, shops and activities and the train station 25 minutes away on foot. We have listened to your feedback and plan on adding SMART TVs to the apartments ready for Summer 2023. We very much look forward to welcoming you back again soon. Property Owner

  • "We contacted Sykes to ask if there was a freezer section in the fridge."

They said that they would contact the owners and came back with the answer that there was not one. We thought that as this was a self-catering property, having no freezer would be an inconvenience. When we arrived at the property however, there was a very large freezer section attached to the fridge. Why did Sykes not tell us this? The property was renovated to a very high standard but my wife and I felt that it was let down by the cleaning staff. The coat rack in the hallway was covered in dust, in the lounge, in the corner by the Standard Lamp, there was a two foot spiders’ web with two spiders in it. Also there was a big floating cobweb above the bed in the second bedroom. There was a couple of other things hadn’t been cleaned properly. We had a great week’s holiday in a lovely apartment so thank you to the owners.

Dear Robert, Thank you for reviewing your recent stay. I can only apologise for the confusion around the Freezer and the oversights by the housekeeper. Please let me assure you these remain isolated occurrences and delighted you were still able to have a great holiday. We hope to have the ability to welcome you back again soon. Kind Regards. Lovely place for babies first holiday , comfortable beds and sofa , in a perfect location, was hard to get the pram up and down the stairs to the property door which would have been good if we would have known prior to our stay , we also requested a Highchair which wasn’t at the property, other then that , tidy , well equipped to cook , would stay here again

Dear Lisa, Thank you for reviewing your stay at Curlew. We are pleased that you enjoyed the property and it's location. I am sorry to hear you struggled with the pram and we missed your request for a highchair on this occasion. We look forward to welcoming you back again soon. Property Owner

  • "We had an amazing week."

On arrival we were a little apprehensive about the apartment. The steps leading down to the entrance were rather dirty and unkempt. Weeds, cobwebs, damp and generally rather grubby. However - once over the threshold our faith was restored. Curlew was very smartly appointed with comfortable modern decor and very clean. We couldn’t praise it highly enough. Perfectly located for everything Windermere has to offer and so quiet and peaceful. We would not hesitate to recommend this property.

Dear Ann, Thank you for reviewing your stay at Curlew. We would like to apologise for the entrance-way on your visit and will ensure it's kept on top of more in future. Despite this, we are pleased you had a super stay and found everything you needed within the property. We hope to welcome you back again soon. Property Owner
