  • "Great location of cottage with all basic amenities to hand"

  • "Surrounding views were fantastic outside, property was dirty, very dated and uncomfortable, the front garden was overgrown you couldn't even get out the gate to the street and the patio set had never seen a cleaning cloth in its life, as indeed was the back patio it was filthy, never seen a brush either, very overpriced for what you got."

  • "Really pleasant stay."

Location couldn't be much better to be honest. It would be worth noting on the information sent out that the parking permit is for Zone E and this applies to Craig Walk while North terrace (the perfect place to unload at the back door) is in Zone D. Apart from that small hiccup, I can't fault the cottage. It was cosy and had everything we needed. I would certainly stay there again. Top Tip: If eating out, make sure you book a table in a restaurant well in advance especially in peak season otherwise it will be a takeaway pizza from one of the local supermarkets. Fortunately I did book several days prior to arrival which turned out to be a good move.

the cottage was quite nice but quite cramped and beds were not very comfy

  • "Great location and lovely cosy cottage with everything you need."

The key collection was straight forward, and the little notes everywhere about how things work were very helpful. The top oven/grill is high up unless you are about 6foot tall, but there's a handy little step thing in the bathroom cupboard. We couldn't initially get the heating to come on and spent a while reading all the instructions before we realised the boiler was switched off! Because of the limited parking for the permit, it's useful to know to drop off luggage and pick up on North Terrace where you collect the key but you can't park there. Tell people in advance which is parking zone E and that parking on Biskey Howe Road and other side of Craig Walk is restriction free. This information is in the cottage folder but it would be helpful to know in advance.

However for the price, one would expect lamps to not be held together with duct tape, more than one toilet roll and a small welcome package.

  • "We booked honeysuckle cottage for a last minute holiday and we were glad we did because we had a great stay in the lake district ."

The cottage is in a great location everything in Bowness is in walking distance .Its a quaint little cottage ,which has everything we needed and the owners had put little notes around the house giving clear instructions how everything worked i wish more owners adopted same approach . There were however a couple of things which could be improved - Parking - the access email should make it clear to people to unload/load at end of north terrace ,Craig walk is a nightmare to get parked and turned on . Shower - the electric shower is past its best and has a mind of its own albeit i did enjoy the cold showers in the sweltering heat Front garden - the front garden is a lovely little enclosed suntrap however its overgrown with weeds , the hedge needs trimmed and the table and chairs need leaned or replaced with something more comfortable to sit on. This is a lovely little cottage which needs a bit of TLC . Even as it is we would probably go back just because of its location and it was reasonably priced .

  • "The cottage was lovely and as expected, comfortably appointed abs close to all Bowness has to offer, although quietly tucked away."

We found the arrival instructions unclear though. Would be better to say ‘drop off and unload in North Terrace, or park on Biskey Howe Road. You can then find a spot on Craig walk using the parking permit in the cottage when you’ve unloaded.’ Also the garden could do with a bit of a tidy, it’s a bit overgrown.

  • "I suffer with a lung disorder which means I cannot walk very far without getting out of breath, so I have to keep stopping to recover before I can carry on and walk a little further."

I do not think the description described the issue with parklng in enough detail as there is no parking space allotted to the cottage. This means you have to park where you can, the parking disc covers area E there is no map to show which streets this covers. This meant some days I had to park 3 or 4 hundred yards away from the cottage and hoped I would not have a parking ticket when I returned to the car. For me this was a downside to our enjoyment of Bowness and the surrounding areas that we visited during our stay.

  • "Adequate: Pros: (1) Location, location, location: Bowness is delightful and the cottage situated perfectly."

    (2) Washing machine/drier: loved not taking home dirty clothes. (3) Comfy beds according to the kids - not so much with the double though. (4) Ease of parking: either free or using the supplied permit: we parked within 1 minutes walk every day. (5) Wi-Fi access, books and DVD collection. Cons: (1) The neighbours dogs waking us before 0700 on four mornings and before 0800 on the other two: I would have preferred to rely on an alarm clock. (2) Forget using the garden with unruly canines patrolling the border. (3) It was bit grubby (tile grouting in the bathroom, thick dust on radiators, cobwebs, etc) and could have done with a 'deep clean', and there was a slight smell of damp in the bathroom. (4) Needs a new shower: old and not fit for purpose.

  • "The only difficult we had was with parking."

For some reason I thought there was an allocated space but I must have misread as there is not. There is a permit to park on certain streets if you can find a space. This was not too big of a problem in the end. The house itself is lovely and was perfect for our needs. We had a great holiday with the children and explored lots of fun activities in the lakes.

  • "We enjoyed our stay at Honeysuckle Cottage."

It was cosy and in a great location. Whilst the property wasn’t dirty I felt it could have been cleaner. The bedroom floor needed hoovering and we had to wash some items of crockery before they could be used. The walls of the property must be very thin as we could hear every word of our neighbour’s conversations!

We would like to thank you very much for taking the time to leave your feedback and are really pleased you enjoyed your stay! Please be assured that the above issues have been flagged up with our housekeeper and will be rectified for future bookings. Property Owner
