  • "The property was lovely - very scenic and secluded."

The location is great, being close to Bowness and Windermere and not far from Ambleside. Really enjoyed staying there, was very comfortable and nicely laid out and the garden area is expansive and relaxing. A great place to use as a base for walks and also chill out. Will certainly be staying again.

Thank you so much for all your lovely comments, We are so pleased you really enjoyed your stay at The Whins and we look forward to welcoming you back again. Property Owner

  • "Very well furnished and good quality of all furnishings and kitchenware."

A heating problem on arrival was quickly resolved by the owner. I tried to contact lakelovers, you were unavailable. As always contact with owners provides better results than agents. A phone number /email address would be useful I had to ferret it out from paperwork at the property. Just as well the house was so comfortable since the Lake District weather was atrocious for most of the week.We are used to mountain weather!!

Thank you so much for your feedback and excellent scoring. We were so pleased you found The Whins very comfortable and well equipped, particularly as the weather wasn’t good and you couldn’t get out much. Hopefully you will return again in better weather and enjoy the mountains as well! Property Owner

  • "We enjoyed our stay here and found the Whins very well appointed, clean and comfortable."

Our only criticism is that it was advertised as having log burners but these were not available for use.

Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased to see that you enjoyed your stay, finding the property to be clean and comfy. We take all comments on board. Thank you- The Lakelovers Owner Relations Team Property Owner

The cottage was beautifully appointed and all prepared for our stay. The grounds were delightful and much enjoyed during the recent excellent weather. Thanks for everything at Sykes Holiday Cottages - so professional and amazing service.

Thank you so much for your lovely comments - we are so pleased you had a wonderful experience staying at The Whins, and that the weather was good so you could enjoy the garden and the wonderful lakeland scenery. Property Owner

  • "Spacious, well equipped, fantastic TV."

Negative: noise from nearby road, beds in need of an upgrade.

Thank you for your comments and we are pleased you found the house well equipped and enjoyed the large smart television! We are sorry you found you heard noise from the road, which is the first time anyone has commented on this, as all the windows are double glazed and at night there is very little traffic. We are also sorry you thought that the beds were in need of an upgrade - again, no-one has commented negatively on them - in fact recent feedback commented on how comfortable they were. The super-king bed and the double bed were both purchased new just over 18 months ago and have good quality expensive mattresses. We ourselves use these beds when we come to stay regularly and would certainly upgrade them if we felt that was necessary, as we have high quality beds at home. Property Owner

  • "The cottage was fantastic , it really gave us a cosy but luxurious weekend."

The property was well maintained, had all the features we could have hoped for and even clear instruction manuals to help us with our stay. It was also in a lovely location close to nature and a short drive to the local town, lakes and hiking trails. The owner, Christine, was extremely friendly and helpful when we sent some questions about the property. We would absolutely recommend this cottage for a holiday.

Thank you so much for your lovely positive feedback and recommendation. We are really pleased you enjoyed your stay at The Whins. As our very much loved second home, rather than just a holiday let, we are so delighted when we hear guests staying at The Whins have enjoyed their holiday there. We hope we can welcome you back sometime for a bit longer stay! Property Owner

  • "The Whins is a beautiful property, with plenty of outside space."

Very comfortable beds and furniture; a large screen TV, and good quality furnishings and equipment. It was let down by the provision of little sachets of long life milk, a pint of fresh milk in the fridge would have been appreciated as would a spare toilet roll!

Many thanks for your feedback. We are so pleased you liked The Whins and found the beds and furniture comfortable - we do strive to provide a really good experience for our guests, so your comments re providing a pint of fresh milk are very helpful, and I will see if this is something we can arrange going forwards. I am very sorry that you found there wasn't a spare toilet roll, as there should have been two. At each changeover, the cleaner puts a new roll on the holder and a spare one on a shelf of the table stand next to the toilet to start guests off with, so I will find out on this occasion why this wasn't done and make sure there is always a spare toilet roll provided at the start of each guests' stay. Thank you again. Property Owner

Spent a very cld day the first day! Managed to understand on the second day!

We are so sorry you could't find the notes on the heating - they are contained in the 'Welcome Letter and Housekeeping Notes' file, which should have been left on the worktop in the kitchen for you to read through on arrival, but glad you managed to understand it on the second day and were warm. Thank you so much for your very positive scores, and so pleased that you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner
