  • "Lovely, spacious property in a great location for bowness , windermere and exploring the lakes."

    Property has been renovated to a very good standard On site parking for one car (behind the property and is quite tight) and another car can park on the road.

  • "Just returned from a lovely stay at woody’s."

    Great location and house was spacious and clean. We called before booking regarding a previous complaint about the shower tray filling up but was informed it had been fixed. The main bed was huge and very comfortable with good quality bedding. The living room now has wooden flooring so has been updated since the photos online were took. There are 3 two seater sofas in the lounge that all recline, which was great after a day of exploring. There is a bit of a musty smell in the en-suite, but nothing too bad and the bathrooms were clean and inviting. I would take your own tea towels as the ones supplied are quite small but the kitchen is well stocked other than that. We will definitely return to woody’s and highly recommend it to others.

  • "Lovely place, good location, good size."

    Comfortable beds and nice dinning and socialising area. Had everything we needed. Slight difficult with the stairs and the kitchen and toilets all in different levels though understanding that this is a part of the character of the property.

  • "We stayed at Woodys cottage after reading the reviews and looking at the location and the standard of the property."

    Woody’s is a good size with ample of space in the property. The beds was very comfortable and the bedding was clean and comfortable. The lounge area was comfortable also for a holiday let. I understand why wooden floors would help for maintenance but it made the property lack warmth and comfort. The essential items was good, washer dryer , fridge and cooker that was difficult to use but we got there in the end. What was disappointing was the main shower water is flowing out from behind the shower and filling the tray very quick resulting in standing in water that you have showered from. The shower area was unclean and looked very worn. The small bathroom in the main bedroom was a bath and not a shower and the bath was not welcoming. Both bathrooms was poor and not as expected. There was not book to advise us when the bin collection was , how to use the cooker , how to use the washer and this is basic stuff and also who to contact to report the shower. It also made me anxious that there was no fire exit on the one door in and one door out to the main outdoors, I know there are fire doors but this didn’t feel safe for me personally. Would we stay again NO would we recommend NO

The property

Arranged across the first and second floors of a centrally located town house, this apartment has been tastefully refurbished throughout.

Woody’s is ideally situated for guests wishing to make the most of the lively villages of Bowness and Windermere, while having easy access to Lake Windermere with its walks, lake cruises, water sports and boats.

A private staircase runs from the entrance hallway to the first floor with its bright and spacious sitting room.

Light floods in through the room’s large bay window, while comfy sofas and a feature fireplace gives it a cosy feel when the sun goes down.

The kitchen is fitted with modern appliances including a large fridge-freezer, induction hob and coffee machine. The first of the two double bedrooms is situated on the first floor, with the second double and a twin being on the top floor of the apartment.

The double on the second floor benefits from an en-suite bathroom with wc, while the house shower room comes with shower cubicle, basin and wc.

Outside the property there is private parking for one car, with additional free on street parking close by.

A car-ferry crosses the lake from Bowness, ideal for those wishing to visit Beatrix Potter’s Hill Top in Near Sawrey and to explore nearby Hawkshead or the Grizedale Forest.

Windermere Train Station 1.5 miles: Ambleside 5 miles; Kendal 7 miles.

The vibrant twin towns of Bowness and Windermere hold enduring appeal for visitors to the Lake District National Park, with each providing a range of nearby attractions, amenities, shops and restaurants to suit all tastes. A variety of boat trips and boat hire are available from Windermere Lake Cruises in Bowness to Brockhole, Ambleside and Lakeside (at the southern end of the lake where the Lakeside Aquarium and the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway are situated). The World of Beatrix Potter attraction and the Old Laundry theatre are 1.5 miles away. Orrest Head, where Alfred Wainwright was inspired to write his series of iconic guidebooks, is a 30-minute walk to enjoy the spectacular panorama of far-reaching views over the lake and surrounding fells. Brockhole, which offers high wire tree top experiences, is less than two miles away, and the historic villages of Grasmere, Ambleside and Troutbeck are a short drive away. There are also a variety of watersports on offer for the more energetic at marine centres along the lake. The area is ideally situated for exploring all that this region has to offer, whether by foot, bike, car, railway or bus; and is within easy reach of attractions such as the spectacular Langdales, Beatrix Potter’s Hill Top House at Far Sawrey, Coniston, Grizedale Forest Park, with its delightful walks and famous outdoor sculptures, mountain biking and “Go-Ape” adventure park, Ullswater, Kendal, Keswick, stone circles, Roman forts and England's highest mountain, Scafell Pike.
