Great location for reaching both Ambleside and Windermere but also other lakes easily accessible. Cottage and location information very useful and plenty of books to suggest suitable activities for all ages. Loved the included Leisure Club membership too, fantastic for a rainy morning with the children. Brockhole playground great.

  • "We have just spent Christmas week at Pudding Cottage and thoroughly enjoyed our stay."

There were 6 adults in our party and we found it spacious, extremely comfortable and very well equipped. The kitchen was very modern and the quality of the utensils/crockery etc. was excellent with absolutely everything provided. "Alexa" was a real novelty for us - we loved her! The cottage is situated in a beautiful location, with ample parking and overlooking lovely grounds at the rear, which we imagine would be wonderful during the summer months. The owners provided a large folder giving detailed information relating to how things work within the cottage, aswell as things to do in the local area, transport, recommendations for eating and local walks from the cottage. Although we did not have a dog or any children, I would highly recommend Pudding Cottage as the facilities provided for both were excellent. Another real bonus for us was the access to Choices gym, which we used 4 times during our stay. The gym facilities were brilliant especially the pool and sauna area. Thank you to the owners - a fabulous time was had by all!

  • "Beautiful Cottage in a Perfect Location."

We stayed here for a week with our 3 children (all under 5) and dog. The directions were spot on, cottage lovely and clean and grounds superb. The provisions within the cottage were more than adequate and helpful for our children. There was a lovely assortment of games, books, DVD's and Xbox games for children of all ages. The grounds are well kept, and the garden lovely and big (we really lucked in as the communal garden was unused by anyone else during our stay so had it all to ourselves!) All in all, we had a lovely time in The Lakes, and the weather was kind to us. The cottage was fantastic and we would stay here again without hesitation.

About the location

AMBLESIDE

Grasmere 4.4 miles; Windermere 4.7 miles; Keswick 16.7 miles.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
