The property

Townfoot Farmhouse is a detached property dating back to the 17th century.

The property exudes character and has an abundance of 21st century indulgences; ecologically heated throughout and accomodation for up to 8 guests.

Luxuriously furnished for comfort, Townfoot Farmhouse is the perfect holiday and is located in a sublime Lakeland setting.

The interior oozes character, but has been designed and modernised to the highest of standards. The ground floor consists of a living room with original oak beams and a wood burner set in an inglenook fireplace.

There’s oak paneling and even a spice cupboard dating back to 1694, the farmhouse kitchen/dining room is well appointed and there’s a day room/conservatory.

Double doors lead into the garden, where you’ll find a lawn and patio area - with a table and seating for 8 guests, breathtaking views across the valley and a boundary fence that is dog-proof. This property benefits from a luxurious monsoon shower room which serves an adjacent king size bedroom, with beautiful views and a door into the garden.

The oak staircase leads you to the first floor where the views are outstanding - here there are three more spacious bedrooms, one super king, one king size and one double.

Plus, there are two further bathrooms. Townfoot Farmhouse is surrounded by beautiful countryside, perfect for walking - with a footpath directly from the house onto Wansfell.

The pretty conservation village of Troutbeck is noted for its listed buildings and vernacular architecture.

There’s a village shop and tea room and a country pub serving hearty meals and local ales.

About the location

Windermere 3 miles; Ambleside 4 miles.

The small Lakeland village of Troutbeck can be found between its more famous neighbours Windermere and Ambleside, close by the Kirkstone Pass. A mixture of houses, cottages and farms, the village is scattered along a narrow lane bordered by a drystone wall. Many of these buildings date back to the 17th Century with features such as mullioned windows and heavy cylindrical chimneys and the northern end boasts its own 17th century inn. Close by, the bustling towns of Windermere and Ambleside are popular with visitors, providing a range of amenities to suit all tastes. Lake Windermere offers boat trips, including the lakeside ferry to the Lakeside Aquarium and Grizedale Forest Park. The ‘Windermere Steamboat Museum’ displays a fascinating collection of boats whilst children will enjoy the ‘World of Beatrix Potter’ in Bowness, where technology brings her characters to life. Within easy reach of destinations such as Coniston Water, Kendal, Keswick and the Lakeland Mountains, Troutbeck is ideally situated for exploring all that the region has to offer.
