  • "Excellent accommodation in AONB, very quiet."

Advised about local walks and facilities. Excellent base for Hexham, and Corbridge and to access Hadrian's Wall and various sites. Have walked the Wall in was good to view Vindolana, the Roman Military Museum and Housesteads and seeing updated facilities and displays. Good local co-op in Allendale Town close by. The accommodation was well equipped and comfortable and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

  • "Sadly, this property was a disappointment from the approach road & farmyard access, to the unkempt gardens, paths & the outside appearance."

While we understand that the Owner wants it to be a 'Wildlife' garden, it appeared to be a hayfield. The path to the cottage was overgrown with grass & nettles & very uneven to walk on, large stones & bits - which caused a health & safety hazard. Inside it needed renovation as some double-glazed units had 'blown' & blind cords were held together with sellotape. A welcome pack plus washing-up liquid & bags for rubbish are required. (paper or biodegradable plastic for the environment- if wished) The positives were that the the cottage was excellently equipped . fridge, freezer, oven, hob, dishwasher & washing machine. Plenty of crockery & cutlery & kitchen utensils.

Lovely relaxing stay in a property that had everything that we needed.

  • "Great location for a wonderfully quiet holiday."

Beds comfy, pillows a bit lumpy. Bath and showers excellent. Bit of an odd smell in the ensuite shower room every now and then. Re-arranged the sofa to make it possible to watch the TV while seated on it. Satellite TV. Great variety of pots and pans and plates and knives & forks, all you would need. Would add a sieve, as draining rice through a colander is hard work. No welcome pack at all - not even milk just a half used jar of instant coffee and tea bags. 3/4 empty washing up liquid bottle, pre used washing up sponge - suggest either new ones - or throw the used ones out. Dishwasher tablets provided. Sunday lunch at Kings Head Allendale lovely. Overall, comfy and well equipped.

  • "It was an amazing stay, the cottage has all facilities you’ll need."

They also left us milk and cake which was lovely upon arrival. Owners were helpful and gave us plenty information regarding the region and where to go visit. The location was just the best part however it was, it’s so peaceful to sit outside and just watch the farm animals roam and the quietness of the area. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting a quiet stay.

  • "The cottage is well thought out with everything you need."

We loved the chickens and rabbits running around in front of the cottage and watching the cows and new born calf in the field. The beds are really comfortable and the absolute quiet meant we could sleep really well. We feel very refreshed after our week here. Is a fabulous spot if you are into stargazing as no street lamps. Would absolutely come back when I feel need to hit my reset button again.

  • "Swallows Rest is in a beautifully restful setting, surrounded by farmland and well away from the road."

The cottage is extremely comfortable, and the kitchen and bathroom are modern with up-to-date facilities. The owners are on-site, and give a warm welcome, with a slice of cake, a box of free-range eggs, milk and tea and coffee. The family are clearly committed to conserving the environment and wildlife flourishes. Northumberland is an amazing place for a holiday; so many historical sites, beautiful, dramatic scenery and warm, welcoming pubs for a good meal. We had an amazing time.

  • "Thanks to Molly and family for a lovely stay!"

The location of this property is perfect, so peaceful and quiet on a family run working farm. Molly and her family gave us a very warm welcome and loved our stay - the cake on arrival was particularly delicious! We would recommend the Rat Inn and Carts Bog Inn for a local drink, and the quaint town of Hexham is only a short drive away. The beds are very comfy and the cottage had everything we needed. Thanks Molly and family for letting us stay at your place!
