The owners leave you alone to do what you want. The lodge is very nice, clean and has everything you need, the hot tub is always warm and has some seating with a table so you can have breakfast outside. The local pub is a 5min walk and serves very nice food and has a great atmosphere. The local shop (spar) is a 10 min drive.

. area outside where hot tub is the fence could do with a paint, very tired and nothing like the pics. The hot tub too much chlorine Inside the fridge top shelf was grimy at the back and the freezer door was broken every time you opened it, it fell off The glasses in the cupboard were dirty had to re wash them all also the tea cups. Old crumbs inside the drawer. In the bedroom there was a half eaten Kit Kat in one of the bedside drawers. For the money we paid, we expected it to be spotless and in mint condition so slightly disappointed. Attention to detail vital and lacking Only two bath towels left, even though there was also the hot tub, and when asked for more, was only given one However the Prosecco and the cupcakes were a nice touch and the bed was comfy.

  • "We absolutely loved our stay at Deer Lodge from start to finish."

The lodge is compact and cosy and you have everything you need. The welcome gifts were much appreciated. The toiletries etc are of high quality. The hosts are really friendly but not intrusive. It is so peaceful and quiet but close enough to walk to the local pub for food and drink, which was very very good. There is so much to do in the area that one week was not enough, so we will have to return at some point :-) The hot tub was great to relax in after our many walks. We realised why it is called Deer Lodge when we spotted deer in the next field on several occassions. If you are thinking about booking Deer Lodge - just do it! You will not regret it.

About the location

LANGHO, LANCASHIRE

Whalley 3.4 miles; Clitheroe 6.7 miles miles; Longridge 8.6 miles

Langho is a small rural village around 5 miles north of Blackburn in the Ribble Valley of Lancashire. The village is split into two halves of the old and new, new Langho developed when the construction of the railway took place in the mid-19th century, turning it into a minor but still thriving commercial centre. The new church of St Leonard was built in 1879 because that at Old Langho was considered to be too far away, however even the new church is now rather isolated since the A59 roundabout was built. The ancient part of the village is considered a real gem, steeped in history for visitors to explore, the old church of St Leonard was built from masonry taken from Whalley Abbey, which was demolished in 1537 on the orders of Henry VIII. There are pubs and eateries among a few small shops and a school in the village. The wider area however, boasts many points of interest to be discovered such as, Longridge Fell which lies at the southern end of the Forest of Bowland AONB, and whose summit rests above wild forestry, benefitting some wonderful vistas to the north and west, in particular towards Fair Snape Fell and the Trough of Bowland. Nearby Whalley provides excellent walking at Spring Wood and boasts a fabulous golf club, and the Dean Clough Resevoir offers more walking routes as well as cycling and mountain biking, with some fantastic landscapes to behold. Further afield and for those looking for a vibrant town to explore, Blackburn offers a wide variety of eateries as well as an array of attractions to entertain all ages. There are a number of public pieces of art around the centre along with art galleries and museums for a rainy day. Discover Blackburn's fabulous history on one of the heritage trails, explore Blackburn Cathedral and some of the finest country houses in the surrounding area. Turton Tower is a distinctive English country home located in the small village of Turton, just 15 miles away, on the edge of the West Pennine Moors, portraying evidence of the Tudor and early Stuart periods. This wonderful area of the North West has much on offer, whether you feel like a leisurely stroll, a lively night out or delving deep in history, it has it all, engulfing a delightful village in which to base your holiday break.
