• "We can't recommend Caldhu Cottage enough."

  We had a lovely week despite freezing temperatures in this beautiful cottage. It ticked all the boxes for us. It is exquisitely furnished yet feels comfortable and homely. It was clean with well equipped kitchen and really lovely bathroom. There was plenty of tea, coffee etc in the welcome pack. Communication from the owners was excellent and we felt the owners really want you to have a lovely stay. We envy anyone booking for Soring and Summer because the garden is fabulous. We saw a deer at the end of the garden and being able to see the neighbouring sheep was a real bonus. Can't fault anything at all.

• "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Caldhu Cottage."

  We were very impressed with how the owners Graham and Nicky had spent considerable time and effort in providing a beautiful and well equipped clean, relaxing holiday home with large well maintained garden. The beds were super comfy and there were lots of lovely walks for us to enjoy with our dog. We would highly recommend this cottage and we will be returning.

• "Probably the best well equipped cottage we've ever stayed in."

  The location was so peaceful and private. Plenty of exercise for our dog just walking around the extensive garden and although just the two of us staying there was more than enough space for a family with three good sized bedrooms. Ideally located for the western lakes and beaches. For us personally, the only minor point was we found the lounge sofas very uncomfortable but everything else was perfect. Would definitely recommend.

• "We all absolutely loved Caldhu Cottage."

  It is so perfect in every way, super comfortable beds, beautiful location and stunning gardens along with everything you could need provided in the property. The Western lakes area is wonderfully quiet and there are so many lovely locations to explore we will definitely return. Thank you for a perfect stay.

• "Gorgeous cottage!"

  We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Caldhu Cottage. A peaceful retreat in a beautiful part of the country and lots to do nearby. The highlight was seeing a deer in the stunning gardens! Highly recommended.

• "A stunning cottage set in a quiet rural location."

  We had an amazing time and can’t recommend Caldhu Cottage enough. Immaculate inside and out, with woodland walks on the doorstep and a huge garden to enjoy. A 10 minute drive will get you to the lovely beach at Drigg - perfect for your four legged friends. The owners were very helpful and approachable. Thank you, we had high expectations which were hugely exceeded!

• "We loved our stay in this beautiful cottage."

  It was so peaceful . The garden with the wild flower meadow was very beautiful and we loved sitting out in the sun. The cottage was very clean with good facilities. A good base for our walks and climbs in Wasdale

  Thanks for your lovely feedback Vivien, especially about the wild flower meadow: it's still early days and we're very much in the learning phase, finding out what works (and what doesn't!) in the Cumbrian soil. • "Needs Better sitting in the sunroom."

  No Seating outside in the front of the house. Doesn’t seem to be enough pots and pans for cooking to full occupied rooms. No egg cups. Lol

  Thanks for your observations Chris. The seating in the sun room is intended for use either indoors or outdoors, but we've also added a bistro table and chairs in front of the kitchen, for al fresco breakfasts! There are also now three extra pans and a set of 6 egg cups. Property Owner

• "A lovely restoration of a beautiful cottage in a rural setting, only observations, complimentary toiletries would have been good and mention in listings local pub is not dog friendly."

  Hi Jackie, thanks for your feedback and observations - both very useful. We do mention in the welcome pack that the Lutwidge Arms is not dog friendly, but I'll see if I can get Sykes to mention this in their listing as well. If you're staying with us again I can recommend both The Bridge Inn at Santon and the Bower House Inn as great, nearby, dog-friendly pubs. Property Owner

• "Caldhu cottage is absolutely lovely- cosy and charming, we loved our week's stay."

  It was the exact right size for a family of 5 or 6, giving us plenty of room to sit together or apart as the mood struck. It's perfectly situated for access to the Western Lakes, and we would absolutely stay there again.

• "Couldn’t fault Caldhu Cottage!"

  The location was a dream! Really clean and comfy! Loved the sun room! Nice walk around the grounds and round to the river! One of our most relaxing holidays. We’ll definitely be back!
