Thank you so much. Only point that didn’t bother us at all but might bother others was a few cobwebs that had been missed by the cleaners for a good while. The place is beautiful. The walks on the grounds amazing and the children absolutely loved being able to walk around and see the animals every day. We would definitely visit again!

Great place for children hot tub a hit. Very comfortable. Broughton has Post Office, Petrol station, Butchers Bakers Grocers. So no need to travel too far for supplies. Our two boys want to go again so they think Moss Side is great.

  • "The cottage is in a really peaceful location despite being on a farm and next to the campsite."

The hot tub was great, the bedrooms were all nice and comfortable and the animals wandering around were very entertaining. Only downsides were that the water pressure was quite low in the showers and toilets (but probably to be expected in such a rural location) and Wifi wasn't good so joining a Teams meeting had to be done by mobile 4g which just about coped. We don't have a car so travelled by train to Foxfield and the disused Coniston line is a really handy way to get to the cottage.

  • "The cottage was much larger than expected which was great and had a good enclosed garden however some basics were missing such as a mop."

The location was good but the farm also had a campsite which was right next to the cottage and was not expected. We envisioned a cottage away from it all but ended up sharing the space with about 50 other campers. The cottage was tired in places but I guess to be expected from an old house. The owner was very friendly.

  • "I’ve got to be honest."

The level of cleanliness was disappointing, especially considering the current circumstances. We were told we could not check in until 5pm due to the extra cleaning that needed to be done due to COVID. I seriously doubly that any extra cleaning took place. The bathrooms were quite mouldy, we had to purchase bleach to clean the bathrooms and kitchen sink areas. There were thick layers of dust and cobwebs everywhere. Skirting boards, window sills and cooker was also dirty. We had to request for the hot tub to be emptied and refilled after only one use because it was cloudy, foamy and full of scum. However, the owners were nice and any requests were met. I would stay here again if the level of cleanliness was improved. The cottage is well equipped and the kids loved the animals and stream nearby. We loved the location, however the listing stated that Cottage is not overlooked by the campers when it actually is. The views are stunning and the walk to Broughton village only takes about 40 min.

We also had our two children aged 2 and 6 and our little beagle Belle. The cottage is beautiful very spacious and comfortable Louise and her partner were very helpful and near by if ever needed. We had a lovely walk in the area surroundings and our two little girls were very made up being able to see the animals and meeting Duchess for a stroke. All in all we got home yesterday evening and are already looking to return in the summer time so a massive massive thank you.

  • "Description clearly states that the campsite is not visible from the property."

In reality there are tents to the front , side and rear clearly visible from every window and overlooking the garden and hot tub. There is a constant stream of people wandering in the yard and walking dogs along our boundary fence a few feet from the house. The listing was a complete misrepresentation of the truth. We did not come to a remote cottage in a quiet bit of Lakeland to be entirely surrounded by people, dogs and general hub bub. Person in charge completely uninterested, Sykes not answering the phone. Did not 3ven get a welcome and show around when we arrived. Just a key in the lock. First and last time booking with Sykes

  • "The location is 5 star the cottage definetly is not, there was a problem with mice eating the food in the kitchen and it was noisy at night from the owners dogs barking til 11 o clock and gone."

The owner lady was pleasent enough. Problem with the cooker as old and dirty and all the markings worn away so did not know what knob was for what, all appliances were really old, when we asked for help we were told ohh I don,t know i have,nt used it (really helpful - not ) curtains in some bedrooms dnt fit the windows and you can not open the windows in some of the bedrooms so when it gets hot your hot !would not return.Hot tub was excellent think that is what your paying for and whole outside needs a good tidy up the pictures dnt show how neglected it looks.

  • "Settle in, meet Louise the owner, then enjoy the farmhouse, and the surroundings."

Remember its a 400 year old building, rustic, and charming. The hot tub is brand new from Cumbria Spas and is a top of the range one, wow. Didn't expect that, though we knew on booking a hot tub was there, not a new one though with lighting, various jet settings etc, it will take many hours to warm up after you arrive due to the owners cleaning it out for you to use, so it may be a late one the first night if you wish to enjoy it. Was a pleasure staying on a working farm, and the walk into the village about 2 mile and worth it, three good pubs too, though for real ale drinkers the stand out one is the Manor Arms, great pub, everyone so friendly, you know its good when at 4pm on a Wednesday its busy, 8 real ales on offer, and think 7 of those were £2.80 a pint, reasonable in the Lakes. A really good walk is towards Woodland, and beyond, you could spend all day exploring around that area, and its straight from the lane to the left as you leave the site, you will see the signpost for it. All in all a very enjoyable week had by all, laid back, and you don't feel intimidated by the place like some I have stayed at, its not 5 star luxury, just a 5 star stay, will without a doubt look to book it again in the future.

It’s a great place and the local area is beautiful with plenty of walking to be had around and the local village only 2 miles away with a choice of pubs and an easy walk along a former railway line. About the location

Millom 7.5 miles; Coniston 9 miles; Ulverston 9.5 miles.

Dating back to the 11th century, Broughton-in-Furness is situated in the south western corner of the Lake District and is just six miles from Coniston Water. There is much to please the visitor such as a pretty, cobbled square complete with a splendid horse chestnut tree, enclosed by shops, pubs and homes, many of them Georgian in origin. The village provides an ideal base for a walking or climbing holiday, with ample opportunity to explore the rugged beauty of the Duddon Valley and the quieter Lake District fells. Norman Nicholson, one of Britain's finest 20th century poets and William Wordsworth, both immortalised this area in their writing and poetry. The village was home to Branwell Bronte, brother of the Bronte sisters, for a short time. The Furness railway line runs from nearby Foxfield and makes for an ideal day out, travelling the west coast of Cumbria. Set amidst the charm of the Lake District and close to the sea, this attractive town makes an inspiring choice from which to further explore a magical heartland of silver lakes, lofty towering peaks and lonely, heather-clad moors.
