"Another wonderful stay at this beautiful cottage."
Stunning location. Lots of space internally, very comfortable. Sadly the aga was on the blink so it was a little chilly in the kitchen rooms but this was just one of those things, an engineer got it fixed on the last day. All else just as we would have wished and we thank the owner for her hospitality!
-
"Amazing , spacious , traditional cottage."
Able to cook on the Aga. Nothing lacking in the property. Would stay even just for the view !
-
"We had a fantastic holiday with brilliant weather,we loved Shepherds Cottage it was lovely and clean with every thing that we needed for our stay."
The best welcome pack ever and the owner was always real to help with any local information. We would recommend this property to anyone.
-
"Fabulous cottage, spacious, pretty, quirky and with the best views."
Great spot to explore Borrowdale valley and surroundings and can do so without a car if wanted for much of it. Walking distance to beautiful waterfalls, rivers and derwent launches. One of the best spots I have stayed in. Just loved the fire and aga too.
-
"Great location, lovely cottage."
-
"Enjoyed our week at Shepherds Cottage."
Very roomy & comfortable. Gorgeous location with excellent walking from the door. Also bus & boat within walking distance plus 2 hotels for a drink. Best welcome pack I have ever had. Thank you
-
"Beautiful cottage set in a fabulous location."
A warm welcome gift on arrival which was lovely. The open fire is warm and inviting. We enjoyed our stay
-
"What a fantastic cottage!"
A lovely big space for four old friends to celebrate a special birthday. A great setting, a warm and cosy home with everything you could need. Fab walks straight from the door and two hotels very close for meals. Would book again. Oh and the welcome pack was outstanding!
-
"A lovely cottage in a beautiful location."
No attention spared to detail - the welcome pack was amazing. Just one tiny suggestion would be that the owner provide better lighting in the kitchen and dining room cooking areas. Everything else - perfect!
-
"Fabulous traditional Lake District cottage in perfect location for walking with the added bonus of being on the bus route to Keswick."
The cottage is really quirky and the owner really knows how to make guests feel welcome; the open fire complete with supply of coal and logs, luxurious feather duvets, a fabulous welcome pack jam packed with local goodies and brilliant heating sourced through the massive aga (if anything, we were too hot
-
"We had a fab stay at Shepherds Cottage, the cottage is quirky warm & cosy, totally spoilt, loved every minute of our stay, right in the middle of everything Keswick just down road, walks right outside your front door,& if you don’t want too drive you can leave your car and use the bus which is every 30mins!"
!! Like I said a fantastic stay that went way too quick & we look forward too visiting again :-)
-
"Had a lovely week with family in this great cosy cottage."
Amazing views across the lake and Cat Bells. Great box of goodies left ( I regularly order the Muesli after our visit last year) Perfect position for bus into Keswick or further down the valley. 10 Minutes walk to a spa experience, 2 minutes walk to Borrowdale Hotel for a meal or drinks. Only criticism is that if the conifer in front of the lounge window, was trimmed it would provide a lovely view from the chair.

"Fantastic location for us."
Plenty of great walks and wonderful scenery. The cottage is very roomy. Facilities basic but great for us. Would recommend Shepherd's Cottage and would certainly go again.
-
"Fabulous cottage, in a stunning location."
Yolandi was a lovely host, really friendly and gave us lots of information. A wonderful welcome pack and extras are provided and it all has a really personal feeling. The cottage is so much bigger than you think and have us and our children plenty of space. There are great walks to be had straight from the front door, plus the bus to get about and a 10 minute stroll to the Lodore jetty to catch the Keswick launch. A real gem.
-
"Wonderful traditional cottage in a spectacular location."
Everything you could possibly need.
-
"Fabulously characterful and quirky."
Comfortable and beautiful setting. Great walks to be had from the front door.
-
"Just didn't want to come home!"

-

Beds a bit small.

"Wonderful cottage, spotlessly clean, incredible location"
-
"Fabulous cottage in a great location looking out onto Catbells."
We walked and cycled directly from the cottage, then strolled down to the Borrowdale hotel for a drink on an evening. The cottage has everything you could ever need provided, with a lovey welcome pack. The only thing we would suggest to change is Kingsize quilts on the double beds or Kingsize beds rather than doubles again with a super king quilt just for that extra comfort. Would highly recommend this cottage for couples or a family.

"Stunning cottage in a stunning location."
Cottage core done to perfection. Only problem is it is fully booked for months so can’t come back again.
-
"Fabulous location with easy and mountainous walks in different directions from the door and Borrowdale hotel close by."
Very good information and walking guide book provides in Cottage. On the 78 bus route which has regular buses during daytime between Seatoller and Keswick. Holiday cottage full of character and comfortable, with lovely treats in a welcome basket. A shame the view from the main lounge blocked by a Conifer but plenty of seating outside to enjoy the views over Derwentwater and Catbells, and watch lambs and variety of birds. Well equipped kitchen with good quality saucepans that were a pleasure to use on the aga. Cooked lots of lovely meals in the aga oven - just needing to extend the cooking time slightly. Yolanda very helpful in providing us with a DVD player for some films we brought with us though TV could access netflix etc if you have your own account. Highly recommended as a great base for walkers.

"Fantastic week away in an amazing cottage."
Our friends said it was the best cottage we’ve stayed in and we’ve stayed in a few! Greeted with a roaring fire, fantastic welcome pack and lovely hello from the owner, the cottage is cozy with a mixture of traditional features and modern decor. The location is superb and whilst I may be biased as this cottage does hold fond memories from when we stayed many years ago as DB&B, I don’t think there’s anywhere else as beautiful in the whole Lake District.
-
"Recent published reviews have said it all."
Full of character, deceptively spacious, brilliant location with an exceptional helpful and caring host Yolande.
-
"The property was beautiful, as was the setting."
A roaring fire was greeting us when we arrived. A big thank you for the hamper which was left. We really enjoyed our stay, and look forward to returning. Highly recommended.
-
"Oh, wow! We had the best time at Sheherd’s Cottage."
It is so beautiful and had everything we needed. Yolandi is a fabulous host, left us in peace but was there if we needed her. We will definitely return. Blissful break!
-
"Probably one of the best cottages we have stayed in."
It had everything we needed, felt very warm and welcoming and a great place to spend Christmas. Add to this an owner who would do anything to ensure your holiday goes smoothly and the ability to walk out of the front door and keep going around lakes and mountains, it could not have been better.
-
"Shepherds Cottage is one of the best rental properties we have stayed in."
Cosy, comfortable, well appointed and in a great location. We were provided a generous welcome hamper on arrival and a supply of logs and coal for the fire too, which was appreciated. The weather was very cold during our stay, but the cottage was always super warm. We would definitely love to return.
-
"Yolandi is an extremely welcoming host who kindly dealt with my shopping delivery as we were delayed arriving."
She had lit the fire and left an amazing hamper of goodies for us. The cottage is spacious but cosy and in a superb position with fabulous views and handy for many walks and hostelries. Also great for dogs both inside and outside.
-

The house is extremely comfortable and so relaxing. Yolandi , as usual, thought of everything to make our stay memorable. We have only been home a day and we miss it already!

Really comfortable. exceptionally clean. Wonderful welcome pack provided featuring local products. Lots of really thoughtful touches. Extremely dog friendly. Super host Yolandi was on hand nearby & was also very kind & helpful. I would not hesitate to book this cottage again. We all had a great week! Thank you Yolandi & Sykes.
-
"Yolande welcomed us to this beautiful cottage."
Beautifully decorated. Great facilities with the option of an Aga or a conventional oven for cooking. Amazing scenery. Beautiful location. Easy liking. Shirt walk to the shore of Derwent Water. Characterful cottage which you would expect with it being 700 years old. Can’t wait to stay again.
-
"Just great."
Returning next year.
-

-
"Yolandi was very welcoming and the accommodation exceed our expectation."
Super location for exploring Derwent and surrounding areas. Highly recommended.
-
"Had a wonderful break in this delightful cottage."
Yolandi, the owner, was extremely welcoming and accomodating. In addition to having the fire ready for us on arrival, she laid out a huge hamper of goodies and had other assorted gifts around the house. The house is extremely well located with lovely walks in all directions. No need to drive anywhere! Looking forward to going back...
-
"The owner Yolande, gave us a wonderful welcome, lovely touches."
..a welcome pack, fire lit, house lovely and cosy warm . Couldn’t fault anything during our stay. Highly recommend this house!
-
"The cottage is amazing."
Lovely fire and everything that you need with the charm of a 14 century cottage. The host was there when we arrived and made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. The hamper left with the cottage was great too!
-
"This has been the nicest holiday cottage we have ever stayed in and such a beautiful location."
The cottage was even better in reality than the advertised details and pictures. On arrival we were warmly greeted by the lovely owner and found a fantastic welcome basket packed full of goodies and some fresh pastries waiting for us in the cosy kitchen. The fabulous bathroom was stocked with a selection of lovely toiletries from bath bombs/shower gels and face masks to toothbrushes and razors! The cottage contained everything and more than was needed to make for a superb stay. A cottage that is beautiful on the outside and equally lovely inside, full of the owners special touches and decorations that created such a blissful and relaxing place to spend our holiday in. The only disappointment was when it was time to go home!!
-
"Our holiday in Shepherds Cottage exceeded all expectations."
We were welcomed by Yolandi on arrival and she had thought of simply everything to make our holiday so enjoyable and memorable. Shepherds Cottage is a gem - the views over the lake and Cat Bells are spectacular and many an evening we just sat in the garden watching the sun set behind the mountains. We barely used the car as there are many walks from the cottage and on occasions we finished walking near a bus stop when an open top double decker bus took us back to the cottage. The children loved it. A huge thank you Yolandi for all your thoughtful touches. Bobbie, John, Caroline, Eva, Anna and Pippa
-
