Travel north and visit the charming market town of Penrith, home to the medieval ruins of the remarkable Penrith Castle, dating back to the 14th century; treat yourself to a spot of retail therapy at Penrith New Squares, discover the fascinating exhibitions of local history on display at Penrith and Eden Museum, or take a scenic stroll through the meadows and wet grassland at Thacka Beck Nature Reserve, keeping your eyes peeled for the wealth of wildlife.
