    “Very clean property.”

We really liked the upstairs lounge with comfy seating and tv. The bedrooms were more like hotel rooms and didn’t feel ‘homey’ like most holiday cottages do but the beds were comfortable and the rooms large. The 2 bathrooms were good with excellent showers. We really liked the upstairs lounge with comfy seating and tv. The bedrooms were more like hotel rooms and didn’t feel ‘homey’ like most holiday cottages do but the beds were comfortable and the rooms large. The 2 bathrooms were good with excellent showers. What lets the property down is the kitchen area. Plus points are plenty of dishes and pots although nothing to strain rice or pasta which was a bit awkward but not insurmountable. It was possible to cook simple meals but the hot plates are just a bit too high for someone of 5’4” and there is so little space in the kitchen area. If the kitchen was bigger it would be a superb property especially with the area outside for sitting in - we had brought camping chairs and enjoyed sitting among the buttercups watching the plentiful rabbits playing in the late afternoon. The property is in an ideal situation for enjoying the wonderful walks in the area. I wonder if this property is really meant as an add on to the much larger property in the same grounds and that’s the reason the kitchen area is so small - maybe only meant for breakfast and the odd cuppa but in these current times when eating out is not so tempting I would have preferred a slightly larger cooking area. I would also like to add that we had a slight problem with an outside door and Samantha (the owner’s daughter) came very quickly to put it right for us which was much appreciated.

About the property

Perched within striking distance of the ancient market town of Clitheroe and perfectly positioned for enjoying the countryside setting of both Forest of Bowland AONB and the Yorkshire Dales National Park is this superb lodge-style property.

Offering an exceptional self-catering experience at any time of the year, Park Hill Lodge is a unique find for all types of party make-ups and its peaceful setting within the grounds of Park Hill ensures tranquillity.

Savour the views of the well-kept garden as you drive along the impressive manor-style driveway before entering into your temporary home, furnished to a high standard and boasting all the modern conveniences required for comfortable stay.

On the ground floor, there are two super-king-size bedrooms, complete with their own Smart TVs and patio doors, which open out to the lush gardens.

Upstairs, the sitting room invites you to kick back and relax in front of the Smart TV, with additional twin beds (with zip/link features to make another super-king-size bed) should you request.

Balmy afternoons can be spent within the garden, where table and chairs offer an alternative spot for dining during the summer months, and the spacious lawn is ideal for your canine companion to stretch his legs.

Look forward to venturing into the nearby town of Clitheroe, where a number of places to eat and drink await, as well as a number of independent shops to pick up local produce, including the award-winning Byrnes Wine Shop with its enormous underground cellar, Cowman’s Famous Sausage Shop and the Exchange Coffee Company, which stocks more than 35 coffees and 60 specialist teas.

Take a moment to brush up on the local history by paying a visit to the imposing 12th century Norman Castle that towers over the town, a Grade I listed building, which is said to be the smallest Norman castle in England and is now home to a museum and 16 acres of landscaped gardens, promising a fun-filled day out for all ages.

Explore the area further with one of the four circular walks that take you around town and towards the surrounding countryside, or why not enjoy a round of golf at Clitheroe Golf Club, one of the country’s best inland courses.

Avid ramblers will be delighted by the plethora of walking opportunities within the Yorkshire Dales National Park, whilst other outdoor activities can be found within the Forest of Bowland, ranging from hot air ballooning, fishing, paragliding and more!

Other local attractions include a visit to the Bowland Wild Boar Park, the stunning Whalley Arches and the National Trust property of Gawthorpe Hall; alternatively, you could head towards the coastline to spend time within the coastal resort of Blackpool or to Lytham St. Annes.

Park Hill Lodge is an incredible property in a great location.
