“Beautifully positioned cottage in the Sales, perfect for walking, exploring and enjoying a slower pace of life.”

The property

A stone-built end-terrace cottage in the village of Buckden, a pretty village nestled amongst the rolling meadows and woodlands of Yorkshire’s Upper Wharfedale Valley.

Rowan Cottage is a traditional Dales cottage in a great position with views of Buckden Pike and the Fells from all angles, making it perfect for families or small groups of friends to tour this stunning area.

On entering the cottage there is a well-equipped kitchen with a good-sized dining table; big enough to enjoy some home-cooked food after a good day out and about.

There is a spacious sitting room with plenty of comfy sofas and a woodburning stove, making it an ideal place to relax in front of after a day full of adventures.

Upstairs there are two bedrooms and a family bathroom, again with great views of the surrounding countryside.

To the back of the cottage, there is a large, full enclosed, lawned garden with a good-sized patio and furniture.

A great place for the kids and dogs to let off steam whilst you relax with something nice and cold in the sunshine.

Ideally situated in the village of Buckden with a village shop and a little café all within walking distance.

The local pub The Buck Inn - less than 100 yards away -re-opens at EasterThis village is the perfect place from which to explore the wonderful scenery and pretty villages of this magnificent Dale.

There are many walks within a short distance from the cottage, with the Dales Way passing nearby and a country pub just 20 minutes’ walk along the river to The George at Hubberholme.

Other nearby hostelries include the White Lion at Cray and the Fox & Hounds at Starbotton.

For the more energetic, the ascent of Buckden Pike is not to be missed, with gentler walks alongside the River Wharfe to nearby Starbotton and Kettlewell to enjoy.

Further afield are the towns of Grassington and Skipton with Malham Tarn and Aysgarth Falls a short drive away.

With plenty of things to see and do, you will certainly be spoilt for choice.

Set in a stunning location, Rowan Cottage is a great property to enjoy a lovely holiday at any time of the year.

About the location

Kettlewell 5 miles; Hawes 12 miles.

Nestling at the foot of Buckden Pike, near the head of Upper Wharfedale, this idyllic village makes the perfect place from which to explore the wonderful scenery and pretty villages of this magnificent Dale. Much of Upper Wharfedale is National Trust owned – an indication of the beauty of its classic countryside, with dry-stone walls and barns, important flower-rich hay meadows and valleyside woodland. Undoubtedly, this is one of the best walking areas in the Dales with The Dales Way passing nearby. The village itself comprises a cluster of stone-built cottages and houses with a traditional green at its centre. A perfect location for a holiday!
