  • "Beautiful homely cottage with an amazing garden."

Ideally located for Grange, Cartmel and Windermere. Excellent pub across the road.

  • "Gorgeous cottage, we felt so comfortable."

Very clean and everything we needed provided. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

  • "Our experience was very much a curates egg - some good things, some very disappointing."

Firstly we found the location -between two busy roads- a disappointing surprise and the level of vehicle noise throughout the day together with car light intrusion at all times of the night sleep depriving. You should be up-front about this - the Google map tag for the address needs to be relocated to its actual location. Secondly, there was an underwhelming feeling of cost control over homeliness that we are used to in lets- odd lack of cleaning materials (e.g a broom for the kitchen, but no dust pan; no dish cloth). - shortage of bed-side lights and tables - minimal cooking implements. Thirdly for a trip organised to attend a funeral we did not need the neighbour knocking and claiming the shared drainage had 'once again despite his ongoing complaints to the company owners', been overwhelmed after we had finished one shower and a breakfast dishes. Finally the parking spot was fine for a small car, and the pub car-park opposite suitable, but again potentially problematic for a large family car/ group of 5. In contrast the property was consistently warm and if you like TV well provisioned.

  • "Easy to understand booking process and clear instructions throughout."

The property was cosy and charming and I would visit again.

  • "The property is not suitable for children as the stairs are steep and very slippery, and would benefit from a carpet."

The blinds also need changing as they kept coming off the wall and had to be fixed each day. The beds were very comfortable, and the garden was great.

  • "The cottage was lovely with a beautiful garden - we really enjoyed our stay."

However I couldn’t get in contact with anyone for the property. I emailed Sykes, sent a message on Vrbo, then finally once in the house I called the number for emergencies. Should be a lot easier to ask questions. No info in the book about rubbish collection and wasn’t very well stocked - 1 roll of toilet paper for a family of 4 for 1 week, no washing up scrubbies, no olive oil, no laundry detergent. The house is lovely but a few extra bits were expected with the price.

  • "Wonderful cottage with everything you could need."

Highlight was the beautiful garden that we were able to make good use of thanks to the lovely weather. We had reason to speak to the owners and they were lovely and very helpful.

  • "Cottage is well located in the quiet village of Lindale with easy access to Grange, Cartmel and Windermere."

....with the added bonus of a highly recommended pub/restaurant immediately opposite. The cottage is exceptionally clean with a well kitted out kitchen and dining area. We particularly enjoyed relaxing afternoons in the the large secluded garden.

As you step into the property, leave your coats and shoes in the hallway before making your way into the welcoming sitting room; here you will find a calming blue décor paired with characterful whitewashed walls, a Smart TV, two armchairs and a plush sofa you can look forward to cosying up on after a long day of discovering your surroundings while the woodburning stove gently warms the room around you.

From here, make you way to the kitchen/diner to rustle up some delicious meals for the group throughout your stay; the kitchen is home to an electric oven and hob, a microwave, and a handy washing machine to freshen up your clothes during your holiday.

Gather as a group at the dining table to enjoy your meals and plan the next day's adventures, before venturing upstairs to bed as the night grows darker.

Climbing the stairs to the first floor, three bedrooms greet you; two doubles, and a single, each fit with a Smart TV and a tasteful neutral décor, fitting with the white-and-wood theme throughout the cottage and allowing an abundance of natural light in.

Completing the interior of the property is a family bathroom where you can indulge with a good book and a bubble bath, as well as a shower over, a basin and a WC.

Outside, the garden really is the gemstone for this cottage; the multilevel lawn provides the perfect space for a picnic, while the bistro set tucked away amongst the trees offers an escape where you can savour your morning coffee.

If you don't fancy cooking one evening, head out to the local pub for some traditional pub grub; The Royal Oak is just on the doorstep of the property and offers a friendly atmosphere.

Venture into the popular town of Grange-over-Sands for more dining options such as Thyme Out Coffee House & Restaurant which offers a contemporary menu in a chic setting, or perhaps make your way into the town of Cartmel and visit L'Enclume, a Michelin starred restaurant for a more decadent evening out.

For days out while you're at the cottage, Holker Hall & Gardens makes for a tranquil day of strolling around the well-kept gardens while you marvel at the magnificent manor home on-site.

Racing enthusiasts will enjoy a day at Cartmel Racecourse, known for its rich history and hosting the National Hunt race meetings.

Why not make a trip to Windermere Lake and try your hand at watersports; here you can hire boats or take guided boat tours, as well as canoeing and kayaking.

The Lake District National Park offers ample walking and cycling opportunities around the lakes, through the rugged terrains and up the peaks, making the area as a whole an adventurers haven.

You can also enjoy this wonderful area at a leisurely pace with friends and family members of all ages and abilities, before stopping for a spot of lunch in one of many eateries and heading back to the cottage.
