    The cottage had everything you needed lovely coming in and you had milk tea coffee and biscuits lovely gesture. Kendal mint cake and something for the dog. Will definitely book again .

The property

This traditional, mid-terrace cottage, Rose Cottage is centrally located in a cobbled area of the historic village of Burton-In-Kendal.

Set over two floors, Rose Cottage provides a romantic bolthole for couples seeking a holiday in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

After a day of rambling, look forward to spending some down time on the sofa, curling up beside the electric fire.

The kitchen is compact yet well-equipped with the essentials for a short break, including an electric oven and gas hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, so home-cooking should be hassle-free.

A patio doors leads to the enclosed patio, offering a charming space to sit at the bistro table and chairs as you reflect on the day.

Whisk yourself off upstairs and begin your nigh time routine in the shower room, before settling down in the double bed and drifting off to sleep.

From the door there are many scenic strolls and cycles routes to take advantage of, including those up to Farleton Knott and Burton Fell to see the limestone pavements, whilst the nearby medieval Devil’s Bridge in Kirkby Lonsdale is well worth a visit.

Also close to Rose Cottage is the Lancaster canal where, in summer months, you can take a relaxing river taxi from Carnforth to Lancaster and back.

Venture to the historic market town of Kendal and browse the eclectic mix of independent retailers, cafés, restaurants and high street shops, providing opportunity to sample local produce and even pick up a gift to take back home.

However you choose to spend your precious holiday time, returning to Rose Cottage will end the day in a peaceful and relaxing environment.

BURTON-IN-KENDAL

Kirkby Lonsdale 7 miles; Kendal 12 miles.

A small, traditional Cumbrian village set in beautiful countryside and ideally placed for exploring Southern Lakeland, the Yorkshire Dales and the peaceful Forest of Bowland. The village has a Post Office/general store, a butcher and a pub that serves good food. It lies 7 miles from the lovely old market town of Kirkby Lonsdale, and 12 miles from Kendal, the gateway to the Lake District. There is easy access to many areas of interest, with the historic city of Lancaster and the seaside resorts of Morecambe and Blackpool all within easy reach. The acclaimed RSPB wildfowl reserve of Leighton Moss is only 4 miles away, while Morecambe Bay is also famous for birdwatching. Other locations well worth a visit are the villages of Silverdale and Arnside (overlooking the beautiful Kent Estuary), Ingleton, Settle and Clapham. Levens Hall (famous topiary) and medieval Sizergh Castle with a beautiful garden are nearby. Good pubs and restaurants are also abound in the area. There is plenty of good walking nearby, and golf, fishing and riding are all available locally.
