The property

This delightful, stone-built, end-terrace cottage is situated at the northern end of the high street in the charming village of Burton-in-Lonsdale, five miles from Kirkby Lonsdale.

Fully renovated by the current owners, this first-class cottage offers an ideal base for couples and small families to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and discover this wonderful area.

With the lovely river just a couple of minutes’ walk from the front doorstep, it is also perfect for those looking for a romantic break.

This delightful cottage offers a cosy sitting room with dining area, a Spanish solid fuel stove and lots of the original features such as exposed stone walls and old beams.

The small kitchen is well equipped and provides a lovely space to prepare a sumptuous meal after a day out on the nearby fells or the amazing challenge on offer at the nearby Three Peaks.

A staircase with a picture window overlooking the churchyard leads to two bedrooms and a modern, individually-styled bathroom.

Outside, there is a patio area to sit out and enjoy dining alfresco, and there is a storage area, ideal for bikes and hiking equipment.

There are numerous walks from the doorstep across picturesque meadowland, woodland and along the beautiful winding River Greta and a host of interesting visitor spots, such as Ingleton, Kirkby Lonsdale and Settle all within easy reach.

For train enthusiasts the famous Settle-Carlisle Railway can be accessed at nearby Clapham.

With so much to do and see, this lovely cottage has plenty to offer.

“Lovely character cottage in the middle of a bustling village.”

Cottage warm and comfortable. All the amenities we required were provided. Lovely little courtyard to sit and to enjoy a cup of tea/glass of wine. Street parking but no problems getting a space every day. Very good community shop. Pub looked lovely but no food served there at the moment. Walks out from the cottage and easy access to peaks and coast via road through village - some road noise was only downside.

About the location

Ingleton 3 miles; Kirkby Lonsdale 5 miles.

The pretty village of Burton in Lonsdale is tucked into the hillside above the lovely River Greta. Its impressive 19th Century church spire is visible from miles around and evidence of Burton Castle can still be seen nearby. In the 18th and 19th Centuries, the village was renowned for its 13 potteries, which formed a vital part of local life. Two potteries, which welcome visitors, still continue the tradition in the nearby villages of Bentham and Ingleton. Burton in Lonsdale offers a shop with a post office counter, and also a welcoming pub. There are several 'undiscovered' quiet walks around the village and more popular walks such as the Three Peaks and Ingleton Waterfalls Walk within easy reach. Places of interest close by include Kirkby Lonsdale, Ingleton and Settle, while this is also an ideal base for exploring the Dales, the Lake District and the Forest of Bowland.
