  • "A delightful and well appointed cottage set in the midst of some truly stunning countryside."

There is so much to see and do in the area that a visitor will never be bored whatever the weather. The only slight downfall is the state of the road over the last 100 metres or so. Thank you Jean for the very tasty tomatoes.

  • "This was our second stay at Batty Hole Farm."

It is a lovely spacious property in a very peaceful setting. We highly recommend staying here. Lots of walks in the surrounding area as well as being close to transport links to larger cities. We saw baby pheasants and baby bunnies as well as lambs and calves. Eating breakfast outside in such lovely surroundings was such a treat. The people in Lancashire are very friendly and I met many interesting people on my morning walks. We went to Manchester and York and many other places locally. Lovely weather for two weeks. We were very sad to leave and head back to reality. Very friendly hosts and dog too.

Thank you for your feed back we very much appreciate it. you had good weather so you could enjoy the surrounding country side. This was your second visit and we hope too see you again. many thanks Jean Property Owner

It is 5 star + in every respect and we found it to offer excellent value for money and will definitely book it again when re-visiting the area. We received the warmest welcome from Jean & Barry who are both super hosts. Nothing was too much trouble as they go the extra mile in every respect. Russell, Moraig & Nathan, Argyll, Scotland.

You do not have to travel far to appreciate the landscape and rich heritage of the area, whilst the local walks (The Burnley and Bronte Ways, respectively) are literally on the door step, and Widdup Moor is only a couple of miles away. Also close by is the Cliviger Gorge with access to Todmorden and Hebden Bridge. A great local walk will take you from nearby Worsthorne across the moors to Howarth with a lunch time stop en route at the Pack Horse

Thank you for your great feedback ,it was lovely to see you all again and pleased to know you will return. Glad you appreciated all our many walks in the area it is a walkers paradise. Thanks once again. Property Owner

  • "There is so much to say about this cottage I hardly know where to start."

We arrived here after a week in a Sykes cottage in Sussex. When Jean (the very friendly owner) saw how much stuff we had brought with us I think she was horrified! She had thoughtfully supplied everything we could need but we told her we had not had a good experience at the previous cottage so we were bringing everything with us!! There was milk, bread, homegrown tomatoes and a lovely cake provided. So thoughtful. The cottage is exactly as it is described but actually even better than the photos show. Everything is of a very high standard and very warm and welcoming. The area is very picturesque and lots of walking without having to use the car. Do try the cafe at HAPPA. Food was amazing. We would have loved to have stayed longer and felt sad to leave. We highly recommend a stay in this beautiful cottage. People are very friendly in this area too. Jean and Barry and Flossie are wonderful hosts.

Thank you for your lovely feedback. We enjoyed having you all to stay with us. The comment about HAPPA will be passed on. Hope you enjoy the rest of your trip, thank you for staying with us. Property Owner

  • "We had the best week away here!"

Jean and Barry were the most wonderful hosts and made us feel so welcome. We arrived to a clean, cosy and beautiful cottage which was well equipped with everything we needed and more! Jean left us some fresh eggs, butter, bread and milk in the kitchen to welcome us which was so sweet! During our stay we visited lots of local areas which were beautiful, many of them recommended by Barry! And HAPPA was just up the road which was a lovely place to visit. In the evenings we sat out in the garden by the fish pond watching the sunset from behind the cliffs. Thankyou so much to you both for making us feel so welcome (and to Flossy the dog aswell for showing us so much love and coming over for a cuddle at every opportunity!) We will definitley be returning in the future for another stay with more members of the family! Take care and hope to see you all again soon x

Thankyou for your wonderful comments. It was a real pleasure having you all to stay. We are pleased you enjoyed our local area. Also thankyou for the delicious food you made for us. We hope to see you all again. Property Owner

The pictures dont do it justice. It is also very spacious and clean. I can't say enough good things about it to be honest. We've stayed at many holiday cottages and this was the best one. The host lives next door and was friendly and welcoming. The outdoor space is arranged so that there is privacy from next doors outdoor sitting area. The location is very rural, down a country lane. Our children really enjoyed HAPPA, a horse sanctuary which was a short walk from the house and has a kids playground and a cafe with some great deals. Thanks for having us!

  • "A beautiful, well maintained and comfortable cottage in a lovely location."

The cottage is situated on a farm, down a long winding track from the main road. Very peaceful. Jean and Barry, who live in the attached cottage, are the perfect hosts and even provided us with fresh eggs and a few other essentials on our arrival. The cottage itself has everything you could need for a self-catering holiday-particularly in the kitchen where we cooked several family meals. The log burner in the living area made for some cosy afternoons by the fire as the weather wasn’t on our side during our stay. The HAPPA cafe is a couple of hundred metres up the track and is well worth a visit -selling home-cooked breakfasts, meals, snacks and cakes from 11-3. All other pubs, restaurants and shops are a drive away. We would highly recommend this cottage.

Thank you for staying with us we enjoyed your company and thank you for your feed back .It was a shame the weather was not kind to you but you did make the most of it. thanks once again Property Owner

  • "A wonderful stay in a warm, spacious, comfortable, and homely property."

It is an amazing location with great views of Pendle from the top of the road leading to Batty Farm. The weather was wet (very wet) at times but one can hardly visit East Lancashire in late October and not expect a bit of rain. Most of the time the sun shone and we were able to enjoy the rugged scenery of the Pennine moorlands. A highlights was a day in the Forest of Bowland with a good walk at Dunsop Bridge and a delightful drive to Wyresdale Tower and back to Briercliffe via the Nick of Pendle. Some time was spent at Boundary Mills, Colne, where retail therapy was a solution to a grey day. Other delights include to stunning architecture - particularly in Colne and Burnley. It was a revisit to old haunts and we will be back to renew our memories.

  • "The property was as described, it was warm and comfortable with a well equipped kitchen and Jean and Barry were very welcoming."

The only thing that would have helped (mainly due to the wet weather) was a doormat in the porch, which we mentioned. For the smoker in the group, maybe a covered shelter out on the patio area (especially when it's raining). Didn't spend too much time in the property as it's a very good location for a base, as there is loads to see and do. Definitely would recommend and return.

On being shown around this lovely cottage Jean gave us a welcome pack of bread, milk & butter, cake, a dozen of her own chickens fresh eggs + tomatoes straight out oh the greenhouse! The location is great with fantastic scenery, we loved being on the farm and enjoyed exploring nearby, both down to the river and the horse sanctuary just up the road. There were lots of different options for days out locally - we went up Pendle Hill, saw Hardcastle Crags and Skipton Castle, and tried out the local swimming pool, inflatable park and petting zoo as well as going further afield to Blackpool.
