  • "This cottage was ideal for us."

Well equipped, very clean, comfortable, well situated and in such a lovely peaceful area. We had a lovely relaxing week. Being regular walkers it was great to be able to leave the car and go out for a day’s walk with a number of different routes to choose from. The patio / garden area is delightful.

Very warm and relaxing. Comfortable beds, fully equipped kitchen, a cosy living room, a spacious laundry room and a bathroom, great views and a lovely garden. So many little details that make this cottage stand out. My little daughter fell in love with the hens and Maureen was so kind as to show how to feed them. There are so many places to visit and you won't get bored no matter how long you stay.

  • "A delightful detached barn conversion situated in the picturesque village of Morland."

The property is beautifully presented and spotlessly clean and everything we could possibly need to make our stay comfortable was provided by the hosts Maureen and Andrew who live nearby. There is a lovely walled garden with patio and lawn which is private and can be enjoyed by the guests and there are many lovely walks straight from the door. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and although Morland is only a small village it is perfectly situated for days out without having to travel too far. We are very keen walkers and love taking photos so it was a perfect base for us and we enjoyed the beautiful scenery and walks in Morland and from the nearby villages. Sadly the village shop and the Pub closed recently as a result of Covid 19 but the Mill Café is open a few days a week and serves excellent food. For shopping Penrith, Appleby and Shap are only a short drive and most of the little villages have a local pub serving food if needed. On arrival we were greeted by Maureen and there was a lovely welcome basket of goodies which we enjoyed, throughout our stay Maureen and Andrew were always around for a chat and are very knowledgeable about the area, they made us very welcome and we hope to return next year as we enjoyed our holiday so much despite the ever changing weather.

The hosts Maureen and Andrew were incredibly friendly, and left us a lovely welcome pack on arrival. Communication was excellent, and the Byre was decorated beautifully for Christmas, including a real christmas tree. Attention to detail was excellent, there were even chocolates on the tree for all of us. Everything is provided in the Byre, it's spotlessly clean, it's modern, but manages to be cosy at the same time, it's location is perfect, at the edge of Morland Village. The view of the beck at the bottom of the garden is lovely, and there are so many opportunities for walking in the area. There's a lovely pub in the village, about 5 minutes walk away, as well as a cafe. Penrith is a 20 minute drive away, Carlisle about 40 minutes. It's incredibly quiet, and there is no street lighting, which was brilliant for star gazing. There are chickens which provide eggs you can purchase. There's a lovely garden, and excellent wi-fi. We loved our stay, will most definitely book the Byre again
