Close by is the picturesque Cartmel village with its 12th century Priory and home to the UK’s smallest race course which holds regular fixtures throughout the summer when free shuttle buses operate from Cark train station.
Cartmel is also the home of sticky toffee pudding which you can buy from the artisan bakery as well as a number of quality pubs and cafes offering delicious meals, not forgetting the renowned L’Enclume restaurant.

Cark in Cartmel is a small Lakeland village just two miles from Cartmel, one of the prettiest villages in the Lake District. Cark is well served by the Furness line railway, and features pretty streamside strolls, lovely walks to the local coastline overlooking Morecambe Bay, two fine traditional old pubs and a scattering of small shops.
